The more I think about this the more ridiculous it gets.
Lily has said in the past that writers don't get nearly enough credit and they deserve greater recognition, especially in visual media (remember, storyboarders are incapable of writing, writers must always be hired and therefore be appreciated because by default they know what they're doing more than those worthless artists), and yet can't name a favorite writer.
But she doesn't read books so I guess it's hard to think of somebody.
I was going to say the same for directors before I remembered that Lily is fixated on the idea that producers have all the power over a production and directors literally just do what the producers tell them to and nobody can blame them for anything. Her ignorance is astounding.

As though dark storytelling is something invented by the Japanese. What 'anime tropes' is Lily referring to here?
It's true that there's a difference in storytelling styles between cultures, and maybe this is part of her problem with watching anything foreign; even disregarding translation issues, there's a different rhythm to the way Japanese stories tend to be told within a given genre. Maybe because it doesn't conform to the beats and energy that Lily is accustomed to from cartoons and Friends she can't get into it. Therefore, all Japanese media is bad and so is the culture.
Except Kingdom Hearts, which I assume is because it has Disney characters and her fixation on Disney being an innocent company just trying to be progressive means KH is okay.
Case in point.
Lily does at least have a good point here (although it's funny she says 'decades' and not 'all of human history').
There's something very distressing about somebody writing hardcore pedophile fiction and then, say, explaining after the fact that it was actually exploring really serious topics and the pedophilia just happened to be part of that exploration. This isn’t a trait limited to Lily. In fact it’s rather common online for people to feel vindicated when someone or something they don’t like can officially be labeled problematic, as if they needed a reason to dislike something beyond personal taste.
People get glad that e-celebs they never thought were funny have been outed as groomers because it makes them feel like they were ‘right’ not to like them. They take pride in having some kind of sense for good or bad people and just carry on with an ‘I told you so’ attitude.
For Lily this is just all the more validation for her to not watch the show, because watching it would mean supporting the art of pedophiles and that would be a crime. She now has a great reason to tell other people not to watch the show and weaponize against fans. This isn’t about pedophilia (let’s be real, we all know she doesn’t care about sexualizing minors) it’s about Lily having the perfect excuse to bully Amphibia and it’s fanbase without ever having to watch it.
