Canada is a failed state

I've been exposed to both healthcare systems, and the American system is superior for service and just quality of care. That's not to say that the American system is not without its tradeoffs or it's own unique problems.
In Canada, it feels more like a security blanket, it's there...as long as you never need it. I have a lot of relatives who died because they were in the specialist shuffle. 6 months to see a heart guy, then 6 months to see a lung guy, then 6 months to see a kidney guy...who tells you, you have advanced cancer and your outlook would be much better had they caught it a year ago. Any talk of opening up the market, so you can inject more money into the healthcare system, by expanding private insurance. Sends people into a frothing rage. Furthermore, the Federal Government uses healthcare funding as a club to get the provinces to comply with various policies. They don't want to give up that lever of power. Why do you think every province suddenly had lockdowns and vax passes?
It's a shame because there does need to be a conversation had about the future of the healthcare system, and something better than the Romanow Report, which was mostly just "Shovel more money into it"

What happened is everyone who knows what they are talking about wanted proportional representation because it would result in nothing but minority governments and force the parties to compromise. For example, right now in Newfoundland & Labrador we have 7 MPs. If the Liberals win all seven ridings we send seven liberals even if they only got 51% of the vote in the whole province, so it's like those votes for the other parties are just disregarded. With proportional representation let's say the liberals had 51% of the vote, the Cons had 29% and the NDP had 20%. Newfoundland would send something like 4 Liberals, 2 Conservatives and 1 NDP to Ottawa.

Trudeau wanted the ranked ballot which is the one that would result in the Liberal super majorities, because both Conservative supporters who are close to the centre and NDP/Green supporters close to the centre are all likely to pick the Liberals as their second choice.

When no one supported the ranked system, Trudeau threw a hissy fit, claimed proportional representation would allow Neo-Nazis to get elected and threw the whole electoral reform process out.

Just think about this, the Conservatives had the most votes Canada wide in the last two elections. With proportional representation they would have formed a minority both times. Not only that, but the PPC would have gotten a handful of seats as well.
Exactly, Trudeau basically used it as an electoral prop- and then turned around with the "ranked" system, which is just absurd.

"Itll allow neo-nazis in"

Canada doesn't even have neo-nazis, theres probably only a handful, he might as well say that they will allow islamists in- of which, there are unironically substantially more in Canada.

When I studied Health Economics, we saw a (admittedly pro NHS) study claiming that the average canuck familly pays roughly $7K per year for healthcare.

I just finished a 6 months cancer treatment (chemo) in the USA for my Hodgkin's Lymphoma. If I add up my premiums and max out of pocket, I paid a total of roughly $7.5K for it. In exchange, I've received 3 different diagnostics imaging services, an oncology appointment, a needle biopsy, and a surgical biopsy/chest port surgery in 7 weeks during the holidays afyer noticing a neck mass. I then started treatment 2 weeks later.

Average wait time for a single non stat diagnostic imaging service in the Canadian province's major metropolitan city I used to live in was 11-18 months (depending on type). For stat, it was 3-5 weeks. I know these stats because I worked a performance manager there.

I've worked in both systems and have been a patient in both system. I'll take the American one 11 times out of 10.

All politics outside, here's hoping you're doing a lot better now pal.

All chemo injections are done and I'm getting a PET scan to confirm cancer's gone on the 21st. Considering how I was responding so well to treatment that they dropped one of the four drugs used in the ABVD regimen, my oncologist is very hopeful! I already have had enoigh energy to do 150+ minutes of treadmill walking last week; I haven't felt this good in months.

Well, well, well, Justin had made Ukrainian president Zelenski angry.

Context is that Germany basically needs them for nord, so the embargo only goes so far.

Reminds me, in part, of how (during university for myself) students would literally protest and "walk out of class", but then when it was time for exams "well, we can't be expected to fail this course as a part of our walk out?"

Are you describing Sweden? Because it very much sounds like you're describing Sweden to a T, and I hate it immeasurably.

As long as there exists a publically financed healthcare system for those who literally cannot afford to save money at all, I don't understand why these morons are so vehemently against private alternatives. I agree that economic disparities in any society shouldn't be too great between the classes, yet you don't manage such things by restricting people's ability to invest their savings into their health, forcing them to suffer in the rampant dysfunction of the government's services. My money is already being taxed in order to fund the public alternative, and yet I still find it worthwhile to spend the income I have left on getting a more expedient and, perhaps, more professional healthcare. It's my business entirely whether I wish to spend my savings on my health, and not something other people should concern themselves with whatsoever. There is the additional benefit of me unburdening the public healthcare by choosing to pursue the private one. Not only that, but I incentivize private enterprises by electing their services, which means a more lucrative society for productive people to settle in, which is of course of benefit to everyone, braindead socialists included. Yet they still insist in shoveling money into corrupt, unproductive and wildly inefficient holes, and sawing of the branch they sit on, taking the rest of us with them. Their rampant stupidity and ugly jealousy should ideally be rewarded with them being declared unfit to participate in the prerogatives of orderly society.

We do not have universal healthcare. Michael Moore really did a number on people, didn't he?

First putting Canada in one of his documentaries and portraying it as a crime and poverty free place where guns were freely available at every walmart or hardware store but despite this there was no one being ''shot'' because Canadians are angels without wings

Then making another documentary portraying the Canadian system as entirely free with universal coverage even covering Americans who sneak in and pretend they have a Canadian spouse for cancer care. I believe he even suggested we get our dental covered (lol).

I'm only mentioning him again because many of the internet myths about Canada come from him and his wildly stupid documentaries. Some Canadians themselves even believe this shit.

Nah, much of the systems are already private in it's not the government who runs it. We have no universal country wide, identical health system and we certainly don't have drug coverage or other add on's like dental etc. We get the bare bones in many provinces. The majority of people have supplemental insurance.

We also have politicians using ''starve the beast'' to fuck up the system more. Ontario has been an offender of this since the ''common sense revolution'' where there has been a desire to kill off all public services.

Most people don't understand how healthcare in Canada works, nor do they understand that doctors are not salaried government employees. Doctors charge the provincial health plan per appointment. With a cap of appointments per week. I think in Ontario it's 45, with another 15 at 50% compensation. As well healthcare is failing becuase the middle class is failing. Yruns out...when you tax people to pay for a service, and then send away all the jobs where people make enough money to be taxed, services fail. Wild idea I know. Turns out you cannot support hospitals with tax revenue from Uber drivers and the HST.

No kidding. Tell that to Tru-dumb and drug ford who think getting rid of the middle class is no big deal.

American Thinker posted a good rant about euthanasia. https://www.americanthinker.com/blo...entally_ill_be_candidates_for_euthanasia.html

Canada’s ‘expert’ panel recommends the mentally ill be candidates for euthanasia

By Eric Utter

Canada’s medical assistance in dying (MAiD) law is already the most permissive euthanasia and assisted-suicide legislation in the world.
Understandably controversial in itself, there are many horror stories surrounding its implementation. For example, as lifesitenews.com recently reported,
A 71-year-old widower was admitted to a Southwestern Ontario hospital after a fall. His family says during his admission he contracted an infectious diarrheal illness. He was humiliated by staff for the smell of his room, his family said. He developed a new shortness of breath that was not comprehensively assessed. In this context, a hospital team member suggested he would qualify for MAiD. The team said he had end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and it was terminal. The patient was surprised by the diagnosis but trusted the team. Within 48 hours of his first assessment, he received a medically assisted death. Post-mortem testing showed he did not have end-stage COPD. His family doctor, when notified of his death, also stated he did not have end-stage COPD, but the team had failed to contact her when they were assessing his history.
Oops. Sorry.
First, do no harm? Respect for life? Canadian nice?
Nonetheless, the Great White North’s federal “expert” panel on MAiD has recommended mental illness be added to the list of maladies making one eligible for MAiD……apparently without any legislative changes. How nice, euthanasia by administrative fiat. What could go wrong?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04f4dnC3GEU - this is russian immigration agent who spams youtube with his how to immigrate to canada videos, trying to lure more and more ukrainean or communist russian immigroids. He makes stupid titles such as how to immigrate to canada without knowledge of english when you are 49 years old or canadians demand more immigrants; LOOK AT HIS GREEDY EYES. FLAG HIS VIDEOS FOR FRAUD OR SPAM.

btw YOUTUBE IS ADMINISTERED BY THE RUSSIAN SCUM Sergey Brin and Susan Wojcicki who are 100% russian spies.

They have to shoehorn art in there because the teachers are retards who can't teach STEM. Coworker of mine moved from China and his 8 year old is leagues ahead of his class. High school teacher I know had the school division try and get him to stop teaching Ohm's Law in Electronics Class because they didn't see the value.

With how much time we spend using computers I do not understand why microprocessor fundamentals, hex and binary aren't taught in like 4th grade. Any kid graduating high school should be able to install Linux, troubleshoot a network and write Hello World in 4 languages.

Somehow in the before times when I was in school we had to reach 60wpm in typing class but they actually just ditched the class entirely now.
even Linus' own kids would tell you learning CRT is better than ever trying to use Linux. if he can't get his own stupid slut daughters to learn linux why would you think a bunch of Canadian kids would bother learning it.

Glad we are focusing on that instead of coding & robotics. Kids gotta know what gender they are.
Linus is glad too. imagine raising a daughter.
I think at some point all youth counterculture gets turned into another marketing trend.

The worst part of getting old is not being able to see the current subcultures. I'm sure there's kids out there now getting amped up about the next big sound and aesthetic but without being in the scene you'd never know.

What I know for sure is that the 2000s were kind of the beginning for a unified look, social media made us all get on the same page, there weren't that many regional variations to the archetypal looks. Whatever is next will be similar, it'll spread across the english speaking social networks.
it was always like that, its just that its easier to see with the internet, the deadheads in San Fran looked exactly the same as the deadheads in NYC or Miami. The same magazines people steal their fashion advice from circulate to all the major cities, even Gavin noted that it didn't matter that Vice weren't heavy online in the 90s, it's fashion "dos&donts" circulated just as efficiently as it would if it was a thread on twitter.

just being on this website is a counterculture technically, as for marketing trends, they only end up happening if there's enough cash for a break through, the pop-punk of the 2000s only happened because of 20 years of punk slowly regaining popularity after the late 70s. hot topic only got big because the ceo decided to make a big push into suburban malls because they realized most punks in the 1980s had to travel hours to the big city or buy merch at rock shows to get the stuff that they now sold there. and it only was a proven store concept once green day and other punk bands broke through in the late 90s. a fuck load of people were already pushing 21+ as punks by the time the money men came to capitalize on their "youth culture"

And sometimes it never happens, plenty of fans of any type of rock the last decade and a half that will be safe from getting marketed to because its a dead genre in this country. Beyond that some things are too spicy to market, Lloyd Kaufman has been waiting to end up the dominant guy in culture for 50 years now. Highly doubt the modern right will ever be marketed to ever. For fucks sake they've taken away curse words from youtube.

honestly the idea of one counterculture or it being good or it being something all youth do is such a jew trick its amazing people still believe it. think about how many artists in all genres never get their time in the mainstream spotlight, entire genres of one hit wonders.

even youth culture, if it reaches our ears its already old and stale. think about snapchat now compared to when it was initially released ,when it was for teenagers could get away with making porn, now its for the middle aged to send goofy snaps of themselves with dog ears or other bullshit.
Unfortunately I know way too many Canadians like this. I've said this in many posts, but the ones who say this^ and brag about how much better we are than Americans are the ones who rely most on America, be it through trade or American culture and entertainment. They love to shit on the states but also love to rely on them.

Really, Canadian and American bugmen have more in common with each other than bugmen do with the rest of their own country. And those bugmen are to a big part to blame in the current failed states of each country.

Shout out to the real Canadians and the real Americans. Fuck all bugs
honestly how often are people relying on healthcare if its considered a plus that its "free" the only time i've seen guys go to the hospital is if theres a bone sticking out of their body or they have a kidney stone. guys on average spend more money on nail clippers in a given decade than on "healthcare" the last time anyone i know had a psychical it was to play ball in high school.

in fact thats a big reason why its so affordable in so many countries, a healthy aryan population that doesn't abuse it; the second they need to care for abdul's wives and kids medical issues from a lifetime of smoking and eating carbs and being 300 poounds suddenly the systems start slowly collapsing in on themselves.

I should have posted this one in the Coronavirus thread but since that guy is a well known doctor in Toronto. He passed away while he did some jogging.

A well-known leader in Canadian emergency medicine has died.

Dr. Paul Hannam, who was the chief of emergency medicine and the program medical director at North York General Hospital, died suddenly on Saturday.

Hannam reportedly collapsed while out running, friend and fellow emergency physician Dr. Howard Ovens said in a tweet.

“Olympic sailor, marathon runner, family man, ED director at NYGH, a sweet, thoughtful, compassionate and gentle man died suddenly today on a run. The quintessential mensch. Hug someone you love,” he wrote. https://twitter.com/HowardOvens/status/1548483762710650881
Some wondered if the vax might have something to do.

Until bleeding heart judges, prosecutors and parole boards are personally made to pay for letting violent criminals prey on Canadians, this will keep happening.

The same thing just happened in Ottawa. A violent Sudanese migrant murdered someone just after a corrupt judge let him stay in the country.

The Judge, Sebastien Grammond, is apparently well known for being a piece of shit.

EDIT: spelling
