General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Maybe I take solace in the fact that she graduates peacefully, No big drama, No leaked Discord messages, No rabid Gahickois, No dark past revealed, and certainly no Twitter cancellations. It just her going out on her own terms, And I hope she will be happy on her future ventures.

God she had become one of my favorites on EN also. I say that I don't like when somebody graduates, included those who may deserve it, But this sting me much more.

They didn't say anything about taking her channel down. Hopefully that is a good sign and she gets OG status, like Coco.

Anyway, this is making me way more depressed than I expected it would. I'm gonna take a break from chuubas for at least the night. I'll leave you all with her roommate's youtube, which will hopefully become active again, eventually.

Channel was created exactly 3 months ago, probably a coincidence but it makes me wonder if these negotiations that Cover talks about in their statement were a monthly thing, she created the channel after one of those, and they fell though just today (admittedly a big rrat but it explains the suddenness of the announcement)

Thanks i hate it. Although if it was going to be someone from HoloEN it was always gonna be her.
I blame Susan for this.
Probably couldn't handle the workload between this and her job, on top of her back injury
I'm just going to assume it was because of her back injury.
My opinion is a mash of all of this:

1) She got royally fucked by Susan and never recovered. Her hours were good even before her first break, but she just couldn't build the same kind of steam as the rest of Council.
2) She was weird, and didn't care at all she was weird. I frequently and unironically compare her to Luna Lovegood. Someone who marches to her own drum, and that just doesn't rub everyone the right way.
3) And obviously, her accident. She had talked about how much of a strain even the most basic of streams was on her body.

As others have pointed out, she's a rather prolific artist outside Hololive. If her body can't manage to do both the drawing and streaming, it's obvious which one needs to be the first to go. It's a shame she never got the chance I feel she deserved, but I don't think that was Cover's fault. I think an unfortunate set of circumstances outside both Sana and Cover's control just hit at all the same time, and there was really nothing to be done about it.

So can people who graduate come back? Her model is there, the audience is there, her friends are there and circumstances causing her to leave could have changed.
When Coco and Aloe graduated Cover said that they could come back if they want to but has never happened, in the entire scene it has only happened 1 time and was a super special exception

Her channel will stay up with all videos. The only thing getting removed is her monetization and her Member-Only videos after 3 months. So it will be exactly like Coco.

And admittedly, she didn't really have a lot of Member-Only videos.

In addition, her channel membership and members-only content will continue to be available for three months after her graduation. Deadlines for each service will be as follows:
 Fan mail and presents acceptance period: Must arrive on or before October 31st, 2022.
 Membership and exclusive content: 11:59:59 PM JST, October 31st, 2022.

I doubt it was as simple or as far-fetched as some people insinuate but it's neither a surprise nor i think it will make that much of an impact, sure, it's sad and all, but Sana was the smallest member and didn't contribute that much to anything nor had very interesting dynamics with other members, neither is her story that interesting.

She isn't like Aloe, who was like a slap in the face for most of the western audience as they witnessed their first graduation, or Coco who's career burned down around her for months before finally going out in a blaze of glory that will never be forgotten, or even Rushia, who caused one of the biggest dramafests in the community and was then unceremoniously pruned from the lineup without even saying goodbye.

Sana to me is just unremarkable in all aspects, a quiet career and a quiet graduation, to be remembered only by the few fans she ever managed to get.
Completly agree the writing was on the wall back when she took that month break. This isn't going to have a big effect on anyone for the long term. She wont be remembered maybe in the future someone will reference her and we'll go "Oh yeah her".

Im willing to give cover the benefit of the doubt and say sana did actually decide to leave, i doubt there's some massive fuckery here, gacha art probably pays the same as 5 streams combined.
The only real fuckery that's apparent is Cover opting for talents that really don't work in their business model. Sana's character is core to the chuuni lore they invented for the gen and yet they picked someone who has to balance both streaming and a full-time gacha art job while having health problems.

Like I can understand some of the questionable choices for Myth because it was the first of its kind but they were supposed to firing on all cylinders for Council.

The time is long past when they can pick up girls to do hololive part-time to build the brand. If they're going to sink the resources and planning they did into something like Council, they need to get people who are committed.

It's probably just as frustrating from Sana's end because she likely went in under the expectation that Council was going to be sold like previous gens and the actual expectations foisted on her were far different than what she imagined.

Does gacha art really pay that much? Just seems bizarre to me to choose that over getting paid to play video games for 9 hours a week and/or do streams chatting with friends about what kind of cake you'd like to eat.
I'm pretty sure the priestess was making more money on gacha art than hololive until recently (she might still be).

The money is absolutely insane if you can keep up with the workload.

Going by covers guidlines for auditioning they arent even that bad. She knew what she was getting into.
She signed the contract and sure she had some bad luck but taking a full month of because your dog died is a bit much. Speaking from personal expierence when my childhood dog died the one i had since i was born i was fine after like a week.

There's the passion aspect to it too. I'm not an artist so I can't relate but she made an Arknights character that she loves like a child, absolutely adores what she created in them.

I just woke up, for fuck sake
But as someone said, as sad as this news is, Sana's graduation just seemed..... inevitable, for reasons that are obvious to many
At least Cover is proven to follow the graduation example set by Coco
Maybe they knew in advance, but it just hit a lot harder once it became “official”.
It's always hit harder no matter how prepared you are, like if someone you knew died of illness. You might think you're prepared of that, but it's always going to hit harder than you thought

Didn't her health issues start AFTER joining? isn't like cover could have foreseen it being a issue.
Im not fully convinced her streaming hours were the issue, more likely i think the stress was too much, and when it came down to it, between a streaming job and gacha art , the one that probably paid her upwards of 10k per piece (random number guess) was gonna win out.
