You are correct. Thanks a little known section of the Affordable Care Act, forgoing curative therapies is no longer a requirement for children to receive hospice services. It's called pediatric concurrent care. Some states, as well as the Veterans Administration, have adopted it for (some?) adults, as well. In order to qualify for concurrent hospice care, children must still have a life expectancy of <6 months, but they can continue to receive both palliative and curative treatment. Kids can live a lot longer with a terminal condition than adults can, and concurrent care seeks to maximize their good days. When you only get a few of those, all of them count.

As an example, kids with terminal cancer can receive blood transfusions. Without blood and blood products, many terminal kids would die within days to weeks. Even if their cancer is no longer curable or even treatable, receiving blood products prevents children from having to experience disturbing effects like severe bleeding at the end of their lives. It also makes parents more likely to consent to palliative care or hospice. Telling parents their kid couldn't get a blood transfusion while on hospice was basically a guarantee that the kid wouldn't enter hospice until they were actively, undeniably dying, and then there would be a huge scramble to get services in place.

Next time you think about the ACA, whatever your beliefs, take a moment to remember that despite its flaws, it allows families to spend more good days with their kids. Concurrent care is the sort of thing we all hope to never have to use, but we should all be thankful that it exists.

Here's more information via the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.

Well that is awesome, and I say that without a hit of sarcasm. I can see the point in getting as many “good days” as possible, I think I’m just surprised since Luna isn’t having “good days”.

But you’re right that kidlets deserve as much good time as they can possibly get. Poor things.

Why does Robyn show Luna “eating” random foods yet she never captures her swallowing them? I mean, that’s something Robyn would do— gaslight her audience to no end but what about those PTs.. are they buying it too?!?
On the video with bacon PT looked like she was pulling a trick "Look I can feed her with no hands" and Luna quickly pushed the bacon out of her mouth since that's her reflex and not an actual chewing.

The PT seems like grifting money I can't believe they do it because they believe she is doing better.

How old is Atlas and have we heard him talking yet??? I beleive he is around 15 months and I havent heard him so much as babble or grunt... its very depressing. He is so bright and alert but no one is interacting with him enough to develop the speach pathways. Even sitting him down in front of Coco Melon all day would be more beneficial than the blatant disregard they give him. They literally act like hes not there. Thats got to be fucking up his development.
I don't think he's quite in trouble yet, especially since most of the time he's on camera is because he happens to be next to Luna, the real subject. I would hope that he's at least babbling when the camera isn't going, but who knows. Maybe his parents talk very little to each other (I pretty much expect that they don't) and he doesn't even hear voices outside of whatever they're watching on TV (or their phones) and Luna's stupid therapy. He certainly isn't learning a huge vocabulary with the latter. It could be that he's saying more than narc mom is letting on because she's desperately waiting for him to say "Gud jawb Wuna" For what it's worth we had almost no build up to his first steps until maybe a month before it happened. And even then it was just a few of videos over several weeks before he was confirmed walking, so who knows how far along he is or isn't with talking.

Also I get the vibe that Glen and Robin will get a divorce in the future, probably after Luna dies. I wonder who will take Atlas? I don’t really see either of them wanting the responsibility but Robyn will want those sweet mama points for her narcissism.
Possibly, but at the same time she really can't seem to stand him and keeps ordering him to a completely different part of the house. And it's not like the total apathy Glenn had in the car photo paints a better picture. Or his documented refusal to change him. Atlas' best bet is spending as much time with his grandparents (either set) as much as possible.

Also when Luna dies and the PT ends Atlas is going to be heartbroken because he gets way more interaction and attention from the therapist, that isn't even there for him, than anyone else in his damn family.
