Also Charlie and Alfie weren’t dead dead, like Archie is. They were terminally ill with no chance of recovery, but as with cancer there’s the try every treatment, clinical trials, experimental therapy, don’t give up the fight thing. Never works, but people will still desperately hope that clinical trial will magically make them well.

Archie is dead. You can fly him to see the pope, or any country you choose for whatever “treatment” you choose, but we can’t treat death. Anyone with half an ounce of intelligence can see he’s dead and mum is just refusing to accept it.

Eta: i can see the family barricading themselves in the hospital to prevent unplugging, likely egged on by the army. But I can’t see too many pitching up at royal london. Although the weather is nice so they may turn up with picnics for a day out…

DFA is also fuelling it to an extent at times also. They try to take the high ground by trying to differentiate themselves from other forums (including Kiwi) but it's pretty clear that everyone is trying to get a reaction out of the other side or having similar discussions. DFA then adds to those discussions with unnecessary comments or information which doesn't actually add anything to the case at hand and is there to fuel the drama between the two sides

I think a lot of people felt that way. All jokes about Liverpool aside, that's why the police van got mobbed. It's the same reason that baby rapists get stomped to death in prison by hardened criminals. At a certain point your stomach drops and you just know that's something so horrific that no-one can come back from it.

Re: the Jamie Bulger case, both of the perpetrators had awful lives growing up, and one was more influenced by the other to go along with it (and he's now living a more normal life with a new identity, I believe.)
It was also kind of nuts how the case was managed with them being interrogated without any adult/guardians, and even in court were expected to be represented by a QC on their own like the QC is having to ask a 10yr old how he would like to proceed.
