Nexpo/YT Horror Channels - Do they all suck

Yeah, I cant think of anyone else other than Goose who manages to make disclaimers sound so neutered and faggy, it makes Canadians look like they have balls.
 
Ain't reading this whole thread so sorry if it's been mentioned, but I find Scary Interesting less grating than most true crime/horror channels, and I like that a lot of what he covers aren't necessarily murders or the supernatural, but just disastrous accidents while hiking/camping/diving/etc.

Wendigoon is still probably my favorite horror/true crime Youtuber. He'll touch on supernatural stuff occasionally but I have yet to find a channel that consistently covers supernatural stuff that isn't obnoxious or faggy or covering obvious fake bs. A lot of the channels in the OP are insufferable now.

Enjoyed his videos about caving and cave diving. He's fine so far and ok in my book.

Cave diving accidents spook me more than disappearing innawoods or thinking my kid's doll is whispering into the baby monitor. Go deep enough and it's as inhospitable to humans as space. Just something in my primal lizard brain I guess.

It's nature. Brutal and fair, but still unpredictable. Even if you got some years under your belt, you should('ve) know(n) better. That's why caving/cave diver stories are still the best and I honestly prefer that the people survive. They have a hardcore story to tell and that experience is a true lesson in humility.

Seems like almost every cave diving disaster I've heard of was caused by someone taking on a tougher dive than they could handle or diving despite bad weather/iffy equipment.

That, and people with an impressive amount of Scuba diving experience not realizing cave diving might be an entirely different experience and process being a bit cocky seems to be a common story as well. People doing horrifying sounding things (to me, anyway) like taking their tanks off their back to push ahead of them in tight crevices to make themselves a bit thinner sounds like probably the sort of thing you would never encounter in a normal ocean dive.

And yeah, the idea of being lost or stuck and just watching your breatheable air levels going down and down is a pretty scary thought. MrBallen, whatever your opinion of him/his content might be, has a bunch of diving stories by the way.

What kinda saddens me is that a lot of these YouTubers start out interesting. I liked NightMind and Moth when they first got started. Nick's videos on Everyman Hybrid are what got me into the series because they helped me understand what all was going on across the various accounts used to tell the story. Hell, if you're into ARGs, I still think that the NightMind index is a good resource to look for new stories to check out.

What sucks is that there are so many copycats out there. I've found so many much smaller channels that are clearly trying to copy Nexpo and Nick and cover all of the same topics that they do. (Thankfully, I haven't really seen any Moth clones. I think that most people know better than to brag about watching some of the shit that Moth has covered.)

It's part of the reason why Wendigoon is such a breath of fresh air, imo. He has more subscribers than Moth and Nick combined and yet he still seems like the same guy I started watching back when he was still in the early stages of his Conspiracy Iceberg series. He also covers whatever he wants, whether it's popular or not. It's a nice change of pace. I wouldn't mind seeing less creators like NightMind and more like Wendigoon.

IIRC Wendi metioned it briefly during the conspiracy iceberg but thankfully didn't treat it like some horror cult. Given some of the weird phrasings he used during the angel iceberg he'd be more likely to treat catholics that way than gnostics.

Fishstickonastick seems to treat shitting on Creepypastas as more of a hobby nowadays. He occasionally comes back but honestly I'd rather have this then him become a egotistical degenerate over time like Nightmind
