Goonswarm has erupted in chaos, after allegations of rampant goon behavior by the leadership. The drama spread to Reddit, though I'm not quite sure what an "investor" is in this sense.

I was in Goonswarm once, and would sometimes lurk in their teamspeak; can't recall the name of the service they were using at the time. I remember one of their fleet commanders, dabigredboat aka DBRB, talking about being at EVE Fanfest in Iceland and engaging in pushy dudebro behavior towards women. At the time, it didn't raise any eyebrows, but I suspect that nowadays he'd get cancelled in a heartbeat for talking about it.

Additionally, someone on Reddit posted a massive callout of Goonswarm leader The Mittani, aka Alex Gianturco. The tl;dr is that somebody on Facebook claims he got excessively handsy with women at some event, and a shitload of comments corroborated that it's a thing he does.

At this point, The Mittani has shat the bed so many times in so many different places that he might be threadworthy. Though the EVE thread on Something Awful is mostly concerned with the possibility that there might be stealth nazis needing to be banned from Goonfleet.

I remember him with all the authority of a 3 year old telling people not to play with his toys saying "I cannot sanction this kind of unprofessional behaviour from a low rate corp.". What did we do to earn the wrath of Mittens the Conqueror? One of our guys ratted one of his guys who were ratting our miners in the first place. We didn't actually realise they were ratting our guys until much later.

Ratting is just another word for ganking or farming either NPCs or players if you didn't know. But our group was apparently bullying poor old small alliance Goonswarm. Our leader was a dickless shit though and kissed Mitten's arse. Later on the leadership in our corp was replaced with Goons. They kicked all the non goons out. And I stopped playing Eve shortly thereafter because I was sick of the dickless sucking dicks.

Mittens being a sex pest has been at least an open secret if not directly confirmed multiple times. Like most Goons he's got that weird cognative dissonance where they can do what they like to you but you're a bad person for doing it to them. So I hope he gets eaten by his own for once. But he'll brush it under the rug like he's done before.

Unclear at present. Getting information about this is difficult because in huge part, it's about one subgroup of Goonswarm (calling itself [sic] Delta Sqad) shit-stirring and trying to encourage a mass walkout, presumably so they can scoop all the deserters into a new internet spaceship guild.

For now, a lot of the thread is taken up with old accounts returning to the EVE thread to disavow Goonswarm, and those accounts immediately being confronted by other goons airing dirty laundry about how someone once called someone else a faggot while playing internet spaceships. It's pretty awesome.

There have been calls for whoever runs Goonswarm’s IT infrastructure to go rogue and open up/leak/sabotage things, which would be hilarious. My recollection is that they used a plethora of homebrewed and third party services to coordinate shit, which is necessary for a large org because EVE is so incredibly grognardy. Besides the forums and voicechat, they had a homebrewed tool for planning travel through their and allied territory based on where they had functioning jump portals, and so forth. New recruits went through an onboarding webapp that automatically registered accounts for them on all Goonswarm services, and of course could instantly ban them from all said services if someone quit or was exposed as a spy or whatever.

It was all impressively autistic, and if past events with goon-run web services are anything to go by, its data security probably sucks balls and it’ll irreparably implode if someone with the right account permissions crosses the right wires. Or tugs on a load-bearing slur.

Since 2020 I’ve been posting in a PMF thread called Passing Time In Chemotherapy: A Diary, which has been equal parts me talking about fighting Stage Four Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and being given two months to live, and equal parts screaming about how horrible the American Healthcare System is and trying to make a case for universal healthcare.

Briefly I went into remission and then my cancer returned. I also have Stage 1 breast cancer. These last two weeks I have been in the hospital with a kidney disease likely brought on by my chemotherapy treatments, and a lung disease which I need tests to rule out that it’s lung cancer.

The problem is I need $4500 to continue receiving care because I am am several hundred thousands dollars in debt due to my chemotherapy. Each chemo treatment cost me $50k after insurance, which no sane person has, so the debt has built up to the point where I am being held hostage for micropayments in the thousands of dollars range in order to receive life saving treatments.

I received mod approval to post a GoFundMe I set up in order to pay just for December healthcare bills. I will either lose treatment or lose my home, and I was recently homeless over a year a few years ago and would not like to repeat the experience. My wife is permanently disabled after her battle with Ovarian Cancer (and needs another $800 down payment foe a surgery but that’s ANOTHER can of worms).

Basically, without goon help, I am fucked. I have zero plans for Christmas or any holidays this season because I’m too busy fighting to keep my home and my health. My GFM is nearly halfway funded as it is, and on the off chance that it gets overfunded the excess will go towards my wife’s surgery.

Both my GFM page and my PMF thread show I am very transparent with where the money goes and what it’s spent on, so no worries there.

Mittani's a massive faggot but will wipe the floor with these people. Eve is his equivalent of a job, GSF leadership are his employees and he's been at it for over 15 years now. Also, at least a decade ago Goongleet was already full of people who didn't go away with the main forum's leftward drift and thus are much less likely to believe all women.
