General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

spoilering this because it's kinda long, fan boy-y, and I don't wanna shit up the thread anymore than I have.

A few days ago Pippa asked how people viewed PC.
A lot of people said PC was the schizo company which, albeit is funny, I think sells the talent short. When they started there wasn't really much to differentiate them from any other group. They were all hamstrung into the seiso, idol model. It wasn't till they broke free of that, I'd put the time right when their manager Muumi got hired, that they branched out. Compare to where they were at the beginning to where they are now.

Lia screams at her chat about how stupid they are for suggesting she spend coins on skills when she can spend them all trying to acquire Bae in Holocure and failing.
Uruka did an almost 3 hour stream of her as Urufurby doing bad ASMR.
Tenma screamed at Remi at the debut watch along with some old fashioned, Goddamned good hazing.
Pippa is Pippa and apparently had one of her idols get caught dressing up in an SS uniform last night.

If I were to describe them I would call them, and I know how cringe this sounds, punk. They are irreverent, unabashed, and proud of being goofballs that don't fit a mold. Yuri and Lumi are a perfect fit for them. The JP branch, as much as I can enjoy them without being able to understand Japanese, I can't really show their progression. I will say Michiru gave us Michi Peach

and Nasa is just pure idol.

Did Botan played Escape from Tarkov yet?
Nah. And good luck getting permissions (or even buying the game) with the sanctions regime in place. Buying Tarkov before February was already a massive pain in the ass that required me to essentially prove my identity by verifying my checking account. I can't imagine how hard it is now.

I bought it like 5 years ago, and I still had to go open a second, prepaid card at my bank, because their horrendous payment processor just wouldn't take my card. That uh, that should've been an omen, but I still went through with it. And then the game didn't work on my computer because their website was lying about the system requirements. I keep that expired card in my wallet to remind me to be less retarded.

But Tarkov is a terrible game to watch if the streamer doesn't actually know what they're doing already, because it ends up just being a menu simulator followed by "where the fuck am I going" simulator.

I will say - as much as I want to doompost about how hard games like Rust and Tarkov are to learn on stream, HoloJP figured out fuckin Ark through sheer force of will. So it really just depends on if they're willing to devote the same autism to Rust as they did to Ark.

Thank you for your smiles! I will continue to support you!

And her post-stream kachi.

Kachi. Thank you all for watching. I wanted to say that I didn't want to cry until the last moment, but I didn't expect to get such a great picture. Although I can't speak much English, she still wants to get along well and I'm really happy. Thank you all Oversheep. I will chat with Sana-chan more. Thank you.

Depressed Nousagi is currently doing a livestream where he ranks vtuber drama into tier lists.

On one hand, I want to be proud. But on the other, I fear for his life.

It can only go one way or the other. There's no in-between.

3.3k viewers at the moment and a hella lotta normies. Dude's been getting lotso suppachattos. And lotso memberships. Good fucking luck managing those kinds of people. I hope it goes well for him though.

Also. No tax today. But I watched two Pippa streams this week and I felt my eardrums quiver at the autistic screeching of the rabbit. She really likes having her mic hit the peak. I like the tangents she goes through every now and then. She's quite relatable sometimes. And the occasional funny, subtle references to lolcow/Kiwi culture. Fun stuff overall. I really should watch her more...

Rust is an extremely slow game starting out. The learning curve is so steep that you won't even be considered a baby-tier player until you have around 100 hours. I have slightly over 1000 hours logged (half of them solo and half playing in a trio with friends) and I'm still considered extremely green. The main hurdle starting out is learning where to find resources, how the building interface works, and how to acquire new recipes. Unless you have someone explicitly backseating you, you'll probably spend your first 10 hours stuck in prim trying to figure out how to smelt metal.

Payday 2 is sort of like this, as well. It takes a while to get the feel of how things work, and you can't just hop into a 4-player lobby and expect to successfully stealth First World Bank (unless you're going for comedy, which is how I view the few times HoloJP played it). It's a huge grind to level up until you have useful perks, not to mention figuring out how to even build a proper perk deck. Very slow grind in the beginning, turns into a great game eventually.

Did Botan played Escape from Tarkov yet?

Even Botan would have a problem with that game, given the recent increased recoil issues the game has experienced in the past few wipes (not to mention the million other bugs). I play Tarkov, and I tell people it's the best game I cannot possibly recommend, because you must hate yourself to play it. People go in expecting to be Willerz, and they turn into Calli really quickly.

My dream is for her to play S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly, but I know that will never happen.

We all haven't checked in on the thread's mainstay lolcow chuuba Futakuchi Mana. Figured I'd saunter over to her pen and see what she's been up to and it looks like she's dropped a Rumbling cover just a few days ago:

'Gotta say, my dudes. The cover's really fucking good. It's really too bad Mana's a fucking tankie know-it-all asshole.

Payday 2 is super accessible if you just go into it as a co-op shooter, because trying to stealth in that game is difficult to initially get a hang of, at times esoteric, buggy as fuck, and not very interesting to watch. Stealth just involves waiting for a drill to finish for 3-5 minutes in a good half of the older heists.
My dream is for her to play S..T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly, but I know that will never happen.
I feel like there's a better chance of some chuuba playing the actual STALKER games, because they have a clear goal, quests and progression, whereas the "do whatever" nature of Anomaly would probably end up pretty aimless.

Yeah this is not far off from how Rust is. A confounding factor is that Rust doesn't really do permanent progress. It's essentially an RTA survival game. Your server is going to get wiped either weekly, biweekly, or monthly (every server wipes on the first Thursday of every month regardless of server settings) and your only persistent progress is researched crafting recipes. And even those will get reset from time to time (most public servers reset them every month and official servers will usually reset them every 6 mo to a year when big changes happen to the item meta). The only advantage established players have over new ones is skill and the power curve is shallow enough that if you're good, you can frequently take down dudes with AKs using only spears and bows.

The key to getting good is to play it enough that you can progress through the early parts of the game quickly and consistently. A new player will spend 10+ hours figuring out how to build wooden shacks and smelt metal after spawning in whereas someone like me will already be on tier 2 crafting early machine guns, hitting PVE monuments, and roaming for players to kill for resources. Your only permanent progress is your skill and that's part of what keeps me coming back tbh.

I don't think she's played Tarkov or S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (Though I remember her reacting to the reveal on Twitter), she did stream a larger variety of FPS games on her old channel. And there's an enormous backlog. Her voice can drastically go from really high pitched to her normal voice though depending on the video.

On one hand, yeah. On the other hand

Doesn't Max0r know latin?
I'm just going to shoot down that possibility because as someone who follows Max0r he's a bit too committed towards his own channel to even consider joining StarsEN. Lately he's been focused on making his Elden Ring video series and judging by his Twitter he's been hard at work with it.
