Honestly? It's not all that bad.

Art Style: I really like it! However, because of all the close-up details, it's very noticeable when the quality drops or when you can tell the animators had to rush big-time... Every so often, it's to an extent where you honestly can't even look at the screen without cringing or laughing. Still a better art style than the actual show though lol

Animation: As I said before, Ice Queendom has hilarious animation errors at random points in the show, but most of the animation ranges from passable to gorgeous. It actually annoys me how the show chooses when it wants to look nice.

Plot: I'm kinda mixed when it comes to this. The plot follows the original show's plot pretty closely, and it also adds to it in several ways! The problem is that some of these additions are good while the others are bad.

Good addition: In the OG Blake short at the beginning of RWBY, it shows Blake just randomly jumping onto the car in front of Adam, saying "goodbye", and Adam saying and doing nothing in response. In the NEW Blake short at the beginning of Ice Queendom, Blake has already been shown to be upset with Adam (as well as with the White Fang as a whole), so it makes sense that she tries to flee the heist as soon as they're soon. She claims that she wants to find a "new path". Adam is angry and confused, but he stops his henchmen (WOW, OTHER WHITE FANG PEOPLE!) from going after her because he knows she just needs to cool down. Later, when Blake finds a dilapidated home to hide out in, she finds out that she's gotten into Beacon (somehow, she had Wi-Fi), and she begins to sob as she says that this will be her "new path".

Bad addition: The team behind Ice Queendom turned a whole ass season (16 episodes) into 3 episodes. While this thankfully cut out a lot of the filler from the OG show, it also accidentally cut out a lot of important scenes and dialogue (ie. the entire Penny fight in Episode 16... and the fucking "combat skirts" joke)

Music: It's fine, but I don't like how they didn't include any of the original songs... Instead, they replaced them all with generic, easily forgettable J-rock songs. Either Williams didn't want to have anything to do with the anime or they never contacted her about it. Either way, the soundtrack is slightly boring, although the rock songs are not horrible.

VERDICT: I might continue watching the show, but it really depends on if it maintains a solid 7/10 score. I fear it may tank hard as some other anime have recently (Darling in the Franxx). I think anybody interested in the original RWBY show, as well as anybody who wants to get into RWBY. should give it a try.

You may now give me the "Autism" or "TMI" reaction. I don't care. I know this was sperging

The fact that they could condense a sixteen episode season into three episodes and only lose a superfluous fight scene that just serves as eye candy and was a literal last minute Montytism addition and a few bad jokes is almost scary.

I can't find it any worse though since the original RWBY OST was just shitty easily forgettable buttmetal anyways.

Honestly I think they did pretty well for what they were given, the V1-3 RWBY character designs are pretty good but they were never made for 2d animation, they're way too busy to be drawing all that extra shit every frame, that's actually one of the big advantages you get with 3d animation is since you just have to make the model once you can add more close in details without killing yourself downstream trying to make it move properly without omitting too many details for the sake of time and sanity. Great example is to look at how detailed a lot of the Naruto outfits are compared to a lot of the Naruto: Shippuden outfits. Dude got tired of needing to draw all that extra shit.

I'm a little cautious about what's going on in Ice Queendom - whether or not it will be taken seriously, as opposed to the "lul, it was just a dream" trope.

Also, I have news from Anime North, where Caitlin Glass, Kara, Arryn, and Aaron Dismuke attended. I'll tell them to you in the coming days.

So there’s rwby books? I saw from a youtube talking about one where Sun reunites with Neptune and his team, but they all are pissed at Sun and are trying to integrate into a new academy? That actually seems interesting especially since I’m one of the few Neptune fans.

I did find myself missing a few of the smaller moments, but you really don't lose anything of absolute import between what they chose to keep or cut. V1/2 are pretty breezy watches as it is anyway, if anyone absolutely must get the unfiltered version of the show it's not like it's hard to find.

Pretty sure 'lul it's just a dream lmao' is the whole shtick. Weiss is trapped in a Grimm nightmare where she becomes Adolf Weissler and exterminates the Faunus. I was disappointed to see it go this direction, personally. An alternate universe version of V1-3 would have been more entertaining, but RT hates spinoff material that can't be loosely retrofitted into the current canon for some reason, so this is the closest we're going to get to that.

I'm interested to see new stuff happening regardless. It literally cannot be worse than current RWBY.

Sorry, I worded that poorly. This IS the kind of thing they allow because it can be awkwardly retrofit into the current canon. It seems like they're setting this nightmare stuff up so they can have it shoehorned into the overall canon.
