Autists have large heads, I know that much. Someone else found that study correlating short stature in females and autism- hadn't read that one before but I can see it. But the ED thing is probably also a factor- if they stunted their growth with picky eating until puberty then anorexia until they got put on hormone shots, that could be a tremendous factor.
Interesting proposal! Anorexia nervosa most often starts between the ages of 12 and 25, though. It's not unheard of for it to start in kids, but it's pretty darn unusual. Picky eating in childhood is a separate issue, which if extreme enough becomes a disorder called ARFID (avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder). While you CAN theoretically stunt your growth with this one, pros think it's more related to childhood OCD than normal adults EDs are.

If this theory were correct we would be seeing lots of women transitioning in their 30s and beyond. That age, after all, is when women lose their supposed "market value", and the "gender lottery" they supposedly won is rendered null and void.

It's not surprising to me that naive young women are embracing troon out if the alternative is to be "invisible and worthless" in a decade. They'd rather be "male" and have that "long shelf life".
