It's more so that MauLer does this with several tweets from accounts with next to (and sometimes literally) no followers. It's also far from unheard of, as people like Mundane Matt were infamous for using Google Alerts to find out when people were talking about him so it's hardly a baseless accusation. But even if MauLer isn't actively looking for them (let's say his fan base is constantly bringing up these tweets to his attention), it makes him look insecure when he regularly would respond to any person who talked negatively about him or his friends. You can look through this thread for examples if your interested.

If MauLer does this like once in a while, then yeah I can understand why you think as such.

The problem with that is that he does it a lot of times that it becomes a very unhealthy obsession. Given that he has a huge fanbase who would flock to anything he says, unless you have a bigger fanbase than his, (or for some dumb reason you post here) you may as well better off not posting anything about him since you are more likely to get dogpiled on.
