Predator 5 announced - Why can't they leave this fucking franchise just rest in peace?

I imagine the lip syncing will be at least somewhat awkward. Still, the best way to watch the movie will probably be with the Comanche audio but no subtitles.

"First 'Prey' Reactions Call it Phenomenal and Best 'Predator' Movie in Years"

Journos are gushing to other journos how great this film is, which convinces me its going to be utter dogshit. However since this abomination of a movie is going to be digital only they might be spared the usual tar and feathering.

That's like a complete rip off of something. Reign of Fire is the first thing that comes to mind, but I can't find that shot, so I assume it's from something else (although it's possible I imagined it). Man this is going to bother me until I figure it out.

Looks a little like a Karate Kid poster I saw where he's doing a kick against the sun right behind him.

It's literally the only 'Predator Movie' that has come out in years. And the only movie to come out in a decade in this franchise was AsPredatoberger in '18. :story:

Here's a funny idea: Check out native American folklore, check for some sort of large humanoid beast, make a movie about that and keep it ambiguous if it's a "magical" monster, a xeno-zoological monster or an alien monster and create your own fucking franchise. I bet this movie could be much more enjoyable without being tied into the Predator Franchise.

Reviews are out on fan sites. To the surprise of no one they are all glowing reviews. These are the same sites that gave positive reviews to literally everything except Shane Black's The (autistic) Predator. I wrote full spoilers below if anyone wants them. Pretty much any Predator or AvP site will attack you if you dare criticize this movie.

- Main character is a female redskin
- She wants to become a hunter in her tribe
- Men in her tribe say only men can become hunter, she is a gatherer
- Ritual to become a hunter is to slay a lion or dangerous animal and brings its head to the tribe
- She decides to hunt anyways, and tracks down a bear
- Predator hunts various animals and takes their skulls for fun
- Bear is too much to handle for her, but a Predator kills the bear in front of her, saving her
- She decides that her trophy kill for the tribe will be the Predator
- She finds a field of skinned buffalo, it was Frenchmen not the Predator
- The Frenchmen are using captured redskins from her tribe to lure the Predator into a trap
- Predator slaughters everyone instead, but the girl and her brother conveniently are left alive
- She and her brother fight the Predator in hand to hand combat and it kills her brother
- She makes a huge fire like in Predator 1 or Predators to blind the Predator
- The Predator is wounded and takes off its mask like a dolt, the girls steals its mask
- She uses the mask to shoot the Predator in the neck, in a very convoluted and ridiculous way in my opinion
- She takes his head to her tribe, gets accepted as strong woman
- The gun from Predator 2 is looted from the Frenchmen and shown up close
- Predator ships visit the planet setting up for sequel

tbh I was expecting her to be made an honorary Predator like the chick from the old AvP comics

- She decides to kill him so she can use his head to obtain a social status that she doesn't deserve

I don't care about this. If this didn't tie in the Predator franchise and if this was its own thing, I wouldn't mind it too much, but it's an another example of mainstream fanfiction.
