Lord of the Rings TV Series in Development - How could this POSSIBLY go wrong...

Saban is an old school weeb and clearly has an amazing track record for hiring people, even after he sold the company because disney let the inmates run the asylum the show somehow got even better, he's probably the only guy that hires fans of the work, and because of how low status the franchise is, you aren't getting the JJ types coming in for the prestige or fame. for fucks sake his pre-1980s lifestyle was of a sterotypical failed musician slacker watching cartoons. probably one of the few white people that was a fan of japan spiderman when it aired.
I'm kinda jealous of PR fans' ability to completely remove all memory of the big budget Power Rangers movie that came out a few years ago and was directed by a man whose last name is Israelite.

its like how there are religious themes all over Bill&Ted 2 but no one would call it a christian film. meanwhile you can't not tell a christian film.
Thanks for reminding me of the time I was doing an assignment for my Catholic school where we were supposed to assign different levels of theological complexity or something to pieces of media, and for the highest level of one field that I don’t quite recall, everyone else put things like the Passion of the Christ, and I put Bill and Ted 2. My nun teacher was not impressed.
Tupac would probably be the better comparison, with his work still being remixed and sampled long after his death.

(Melkor isn't actually dead, blah blah blah)
Tupac and Melkor are both alive in Serbia. They have pizza night with Josh.

its because its the same solutions for everything. it reminds me of this BBC documentary a decade ago about moms deciding to make their own porn after investigating the uk porn industry because of their sons addictions. the thread on /r/drama about it was hilarious because you didn't need to waste an hour of your life to know how everything played out. and it played out exactly how it sounded.
Please tell me the moms didn't actually star in it.

i mean they literally come back to life from the depths of hell and bring the world to a utopia through a rock song that sings the praises of god. its a fuck load more blatant than LOTR, in the films you don't hear about sauron's fall nor do they really delve into the fact that the wizards are more like archangels. its like the intergalactic superhero turtle that saves the day in IT, you won't know what the fuck i'm talking about just from the movie.

"... an adaptation of Tolkien's work would reflect what the world actually looks like."
"His stories are about his fictional races..."

If the races are fictional why do they need to reflect the real world? Unfortunately she most likely ment meant "what Middle Earth actually looks like" in which case I'd take the descriptions provided by the author of the source material as being an accurate representation. It's so tiresome to see the injection of modern ideologies into fictional worlds and period pieces.

Shit they really do want to replace the guy's work. Which is just shitty to take someone else's story setting and fuck with it for no other reason but because you wanted to fit your world view.

That's what fanfic is for I thought

You know, if they wanted to stick brown people into the story, they should have had a series about the Two Blue Wizards helping the Easterlings. We know very little about them except that they helped the Free Peoples resist Sauron. You could practically make your own story with your own characters, stick two blue wizards in it somewhere, and have them defeat some bad guy who was an agent of Sauron in the region. Throw in a couple of elves and some Hobbits if you want to connect it to the original LOTR trilogy. Boom. You can have yer series AND your representation. It'd probably be a lot more fun than Rings of Racebaiting as well....

Like fucking clockwork. Again and again, they do not seek to creat their own mythos or cultural reference. They try to change and corrupt for their gain. I hope they will be remembered, for a long time, as a kind of cultural fascist very pron to book burning and records editing. I mean, historicly, when was the last time something as powerful as Amazon tried to force racial quotas into Tolkien's work ? Nazi Germany, no ?

Again, give them enough time and they will try to erase the past... At least in the mind of a younger audiance. Well lads, you know what to do, ridicul the retards loving this ideoligical fan-fic trash in your own social circle and shame those fuckers into near-oblivion.

I knew they'd go for the "the races of middle earth band together to win" globohomo angle, which is by far one of the most surface level analyses of the themes of Tolkien's works, but the most convenient one for them.
EDIT: None of this is surprising, really. We've seen all this rhetoric before. It's just now they've said it out loud in regards to this. Regarding an earlier topic, when they get to the destruction of Númenor, will they bring up the fact that it was Eru Ilúvatar that destroyed Númenor and the Great Armament and reshaped Arda, or will they just have it be the Valar? Will the presence of God offend them so much they will remove all reference to Him?

"The world is very racist and it's racist due to media like LotR where everybody is white, so if we add black people to a new version, we are ending racism, aren't we great?!"

They all believe they've been heroic only for allowing some blacks to play some roles in some version of a beloved series of books.
