Gross Anna Johnson / The Fit Vegan Ginger / Creation Nutrition / Anna's Organics Lynchburg - Jesus Freak, orthorexic, creator of vegan food monstrosities, munches to avoid getting a job

She's way too deeply in denial to listen to any kind of advice or offer of help at this point. Everytime she posts a picture she instantly get likes that further reinforce her delusion that she's the picture of health and lifestyle goals, anyone who disagrees just doesn't get it.

Eating disorders are always tricky. With Ginger she justifies it it by saying it's for her health, that if she strays outside of her safe foods it will make her sick and uses vegan/gluten-free/calorie-free labels as ways for her to pass off her diet as legitimate. I feel like her deep dissatisfaction with herself has probably been there for a while, hence her talking about how sick she used to be before she changed her diet. She didn't like something about herself and that manifested as an obsession with her health, always finding something wrong with herself. Her ultra-regulated diet gives her a new thing to obsess over, when it used to be her headaches that made her bad now it's the fact she could be cutting things out of her diet/working out more. The more control she has over her food the more control she feels she has over whatever she doesn't like about herself and you trying to take that control away and let the bad stuff come back terrifies her.

I have a friend who is like this, thankfully to a much much lesser degree. It's so difficult to help because it gives them a sense of satisfaction and pride when theydon't eat/scrutinise their food; it's like a fuck you body you don't need that sandwich, I'm stronger than that. It's a lot less painful for them to pretend they're being motivated by their health instead of being consumed by their own self-loathing.

Have we tried communicating with her at all?
A lot of people have reached out to her on Instagram, both vegan bloggers and eating disorder recovery bloggers. She either brushes off what they have to say or is actively cunty to them. This includes people she has had friendly exchanges with previously, who are respectful and gentle about telling her she needs help.

Although Anna was in rough shape before getting treated by Quacko the Not-A-Doc, I do think she's enabling (perhaps even if she's trying to help).

Pretty sure Anna's paying her own rent. Reading between the lines this fall, it looked like her parents refused to pay for her college unless she got treatment for her ED, and Anna responded by getting a second job.

@All: Thanks for the info and observations.

I suppose at this point, all we can do is pray (if we're believers), or just hope that Anna somehow wises up, and slowly walks away from the precipice.

As a friend once put it: if an adult is bound and determined to kill themselves -- through drugs, drink, insane risks, or madness -- after a certain point, there's very little one can do about it.

Speaking of jobs, what is it exactly that she does? If I were an employer and I saw her coming in the door, I'd kick her right back out again. Best case, she faints at random times and scares customers, and bleeds like a stuck pig if she gets a paper cut. Worst case she raps her hip on the edge of a desk, breaks her hipbone, lands in hospital with a raging bone infection and sues the living fuck out of the business owners for failing on their duty of care.

You'd have to be almost as self destructive as she is to want her around.

Here's her GoFundMe.

Why the fuck does she need 10k to publish her cookbook?

More to the point, why does she need the money? She doesn't eat, doesn't appear to socialise, and spends the vast majority of her time at the gym. Gym memberships tend to be unlimited and running is free. Essentially all she does is pay rent and internet. And her utilities bills would be low for the simple reason that she only goes home to sleep and purge. Given that all the food she prepares goes uneaten, all she probably does is concoct something random out of protein power, take a photograph and throw the powder back into the cupboard until the next set of photographs. I'll lay money that she can make a small tub of powder last months.

To pay for the inevitable lawsuit when someone dies from eating her shitty foods and recipes.

If the poisoning that mug cake gave me had gotten much worse I'd be wanting a chunk of that $10K.

When it comes to the dried-Play-Doh doughnuts...I might stay away from any of her recipes that contain protein powder in any future Kiwi Kitchen episodes. I'll need a bit more than ephemeral e-cred in return for taking on those buggers.

I'm morbidly curious... How bad was said food poisoning? Like were you debilitated for a few days, or just had the trots for an hour?

How poisonous are we talking??
