This just makes me sad. I'm used to franchises I once loved being destroyed by the preachy, self-righteous and tone-deaf zeitgeist of current times, but it hurts more to see it happen to Grand Theft Auto, in which a major part of these games are to satirize the contemporary theme of the times.

It's like resurrecting George Carlin and having him dressed in rainbow colours and crying "Trans rights!" at every available opportunity. There's that extra level of hurt to it because they used to bite back at this kind of thing.

If they wanted to do a LatinX amigo focused story that still carries that vintage R* DNA, they should've done a story about a young sicario who's dragged into the cartel underworld. Have the map be parodies of San Diego and Tijuana with surrounding environments. Use movies like "Hell/El Infierno" or "City of God" as inspiration.
But no, instead they're going to take inspiration from the Banger Sisters meets Thelma & Louise. Fuck me...

A female protagonist for a GTA game is a bad idea imo, the sight of a woman running around and car jacking people is going to be absurd, how's a woman going to drag a MAN out of a car and not wind up getting the shit beat out of her? Maybe if you can only do it if you have a pistol, but Woke Rockstar is not going to add that level of realism, it's going to be a skinny woman somehow pulling a man out of his car and it's going to be laughable.

Carlin was liberal-leaning but was anti-authoritarian above all else, and his American Dream routine from "Life is Worth Losing" is even more applicable to the mega-corporations today than it was back in 2005.

I’m aware that a lot of people felt V was mediocre, but I really loved the way the story escalated, and especially the way Franklin matured through the story. And Franklin can’t happen in a game concerned about “punching down”.
