Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

>Tony Toons
'ey Tony, wats wit dat Shirley bitch? She's always floatin around and mumblin to herself. Dat ain't right!
Tony Toons sounds like the perfect choice of Paulie Walnuts and Tony Soprano trading barbs back and forth in the outskirts of New Jersey, but in cartoon form.

Yeah, I would probably watch that too. :story:

GENNDY TARTAKOVSKY'S ANIMATIC FOR THE CANCELLED POPEYE MOVIE HAS BEEN LEAKED!

wellblowmedown.jpg

Someone called Chip Butty uploaded the full 87-minute animatic and shared it with Cartoon Brew who confirmed the authenticity. But because jewtube will forever jewtube, it's already gone on copyright grounds. Thank God the internet never forgets for there is an archive of it here. Now we can see for ourselves if Sony was right or wrong to shelve this thing.

First off, somebody's in trouble. We'll know who once someone at Sony gets fired.

Second, great news. Genndy said the Popeye film isn't gonna be made, so this is as close as we will get.

Holy shit, finds like this are rare! Like, aside from The Thief and the Cobbler, and The King and the Mockingbird, I don't think another "lost" animated film has been saved from the brink of death like this. Downloading to my hard drive immediately! Whoever leaked it did God's work, for real.

Edit:
WHY SONY.JPG

SONY ARE A BUNCH OF FUCKING FAGGOTS. GOD-FUCKING-DAMN IT.

Double Edit:
GRAB IT WHILE YA CAN, FOLKS!
Is it just me or do same sex couples in western animation come off cringy. Well live action show handle it better mostly?
No, same-sex couples in live-action can be pretty cringey as well. Not that the characters written aren't proud to be gay. No, no, far from it. It's that they're a little too proud. They feel like they have to announce it everywhere they go and to every person they meet. Maybe it's overcompensating for past prejudices, maybe modern writers just don't know how to write for (normal, non-flamboyant) gay people. Whatever the case, it's a plague upon our media.

You misread my comment. I said live action shows mostly. As in some than other. There are some shows I seen that have handle gay characters just fine like giving them more to do in the plot and don't constantly talk about being gay.

If it makes you feel any better, they've redeemed themselves, somewhat:
In brighter news, more info has come up on Genndy Tartakovsky’s new adult animated comedy, Fixed. In a welcome turn of events, it’s going to be 2D animated.

Reminded Ralph Bakshi made this 55 years ago.
Great stuff. Those last few Paramount cartoons are really cool and stylish, and much better examples of limited animation than what Hanna-Barbera had regressed to by this point.

One of the animators, Jim Simon, ended up on Sesame Street a few years later, working on such classics as this:

Yep, the "stick of butter" guy! You can see the evolution of NY animation coming from this point onward.

So I was looking for some stuff regarding the story of Beowulf early and came across this:

Good little animated short. I like the designs for Grendel and the dragon, also liked how aside from grunts and yells, the characters don't speak.
