Dramacow FineBros - Copyrighting React Videos Controversy, the Ongoing Shitstorm, Sadly Increasing Subs

I used to like some of the React videos...mostly the YouTubers React (even though I didn't know most of them) or the Elders React. That said, this is unexcusable behavior...I think honestly the whole problem started when YouTube started actually paying content creators in the first place, like PewDiePie. I am all for things like Patreon where people can individually choose to fund content creators, but YouTube itself paying people just to make videos, from what I've seen, leads to creators taking themselves way too seriously and doing stupid things like...gee, trying to copyright something that's been around ever since someone told their friend "Hey, watch this dumb shit".

Still, i expect this shitstorm to resurface when the bros start to send copyright strikes again and someone gets so pissed they actually sue the damn bastards.

This is the thing. They have no copyright over any of this shit. What they're claiming is trademarks. They use the copyright notice system because that's what YouTube has.

But the fact they've abjured these trademarks means they do not fucking have them. The public can rely on their (probably bogus) apology and retraction as a statement of their intent, so the next time they go doing this, they'll be committing actual trademark fraud. Plus the fact that these trademarks would be utter bullshit even with a "valid" registration. Plus the fact that when they said they wouldn't be pursuing these trademarks they failed to retain control over them, and since controlling a trademark is necessary for keeping it, effectively abandoned them.

I hope these dumb bastards do go ahead.

React channel isn't that bad. It has lots of hot underage chicks, that's why I subscribed.
You do realize what this topic is about, right?

And that's the thing, they're clearly confusing one form of legal rights (Tradmarks) with another (Copyright). I'm legitimately surprised that they missed the mark that much when they started taking down the videos of those other people. Mind you, trademark or not, what they did was fucking stupid. And in the end, they deserved the scorn and hatred received.

I'm kind of surprised to see yesterday's unsubscribers count ended up being higher than the last couple of days were, now they're down to 13.5 million instead.

I guess the main problem is the uninformed people now coming out of the woodwork to tell all the other uninformed people this was one big mistake but the Fine Brothers reputation, views and hence money will definitely take a long term hit in my opinion.

I tried to read the comments of their newest video. The "fans" have come out of the wood work, content with eating up their apology. Let the sheeple eat up their greedy corporate overlords, they won't listen to reason.

Given that this is the Fine Bros we're talking about, those 'fans' are probably 12 year olds.

still falling but barely

TFB tries it, using the death of David Bowie to cash in and try to get the Internet to forgive them for the React controversy, unsurprisingly because the internet is full of idiots it's actually working.

This is no different to when they used the death of that teen or the elementary school killings for advertising money and positive publicity
