Unless this is a second one, it was mentioned earlier this month but the thread moves pretty fast so it'd be easy to miss. I'm surprised she doesn't use it more to beg for pet food. It's worth adding to the OP if she does move some of her begging there.

Weirdos like this love the hospital. She'll have a TV, an AC, and wifi. It'll be clean, and she won't have a bunch of sick, hungry animals bothering her. She'll have people bringing her food, washing her, and just generally paying attention to her. She WILL be there the full 5 days if she has any say in it.

I wanted to build on this.

Never underestimate the power of attention to people like Polly, it is like heroin to them. Being in hospital and having people caring for you gets their cheepies up like nothing else, it validates their ideas about how fragile and stunning and brave they are because in a situation like this where she will be unknown to this particular set of staff they are likely to treat her with sympathy to try and make her feel safe and comfortable. People with Munchausen’s tend to be very childlike in many ways (colouring books, plushies, all that nonsense we can see on her wishlist) because they’re trying to get people to look after them because being an adult is hard.

This is the absolute best stage of the munchie grift, the part before they get labelled a malingerer and are bum rushed out of the ER when they show up because they’ve been pegged as a drug seeker and PITA. After that, they have to find a new hospital or GP who isn’t wise to their scam - they will have stories of how their last care provider was abusive or will straight up deny they have ever seen another doctor for this same problem. The cycle then begins anew.

She’s excited about being in hospital because to her it *is* like a vacation. She can‘t wait to be coddled and called a brave spoonie warrior, and she will milk her recovery for weeks if not months afterwards. This is literally the most exciting thing that has happened to her in fuck knows how long.

She was! She’s been asking for gas money all week. I am imagining this will be a regular thing until he gets paid or loses his job bc she can’t grift gas money that day? With gas prices so high and being broke, why isn’t she just having him take the car so they aren’t making two trips each day?

ETA, if Polissa would actually fucking drop a solid hundred, it'd contribute towards improvement of their gas milage. Poor engine, I feel for it, having to haul around that blubber. I pity the engine almost as much as I pity the suspension. No vehicle deserves to be put through hauling around a turbo-tubber.

Well, sure. I have Amazon wishlists with hundreds of items. I'll periodically purge or add things and at Christmas when people ask what to get me, I'll pick a couple of things. I think that's totally normal and I'm sure most of us do the same. I'd die of embarrassment before I'd ask randos to buy things.

Some (maybe most) of us have been working since we were in our mid teens and have struggled and persevered all on our own or maybe our families have helped because we're not shitheads who lie and steal. Polissa is someone who's never figured things out on her own and she's probably going to be that way to the end.
