So speaking of Sony buying Square Enix, I looked up S-E's market cap and it looks to be around $5.7 billion (760.92b JPY). I'm actually staggered that they're so cheap. That actually makes them one of the cheaper Japanese game companies out there, and they're flush with good properties that've been squandered to all hell and back. They're probably one of the wiser big acquisitions Sony could make.

Is anyone actually excited for Forspoken? I really couldn’t care less about that game. The combat looks awful, the world looks bland, dialogue is painful. The maybe two positives I can give it is the movement looks cool and the soundtrack sounds good. But if I wanted a good advanced movement game, I could just play prototype. And if I want to listen to a good soundtrack, I could play any other Squeenix game. And $70? No wonder they delayed it twice, but even then that can’t fix the bad dialogue and the boring looking gameplay.

You have to think too what what the hell else is on the horizon, and that most top seller lists go by revenue, not actual sales numbers. It's why the Steam Deck and Index are always at the top of the list despite being niche products.

The move to rosin core solder was forced by EU regulation. Rosin core was new and manufacturers did not know how to handle it. The PS3 by virtue of being much larger and frankly better built was able to shrug it off, even today YLOD is much rarer then RROD. The 360 was also horribly rushed to market.

MS and sony were not alone. Remember the macbooks that needed motherboard replacement? All the gaming laptops with failed nvidia 7000 and 8000 series GPUs? Same problem. Even into 2011 manufacturers were having this problem. Dell's D630 was an utter travesty, HP and lenovo had to retire model numbers early, and many a GPU from this era suffered from solder failure.

Between this and Microsoft compacting everything in that small space with the OG 360, how was "cooling the system so it doesn't explode/melt/malfunction" not top priority?

Well, look at the xbox 360 sales and ask yourself the question again. Gamers will buy utter trash if it scratches that itch, and the 360 was a legit impressive piece of hardware at the time.

Seriously. The two games I’m waiting for that are only coming to ps5 right now are FFXVI and FFVII Rebirth, but even then Sony had to pay squeenix to keep those off of other platforms. They’ll come to PC in a year or two after they release, so I can just wait.

Sony went full woke and most western game development after mid 2010's started to adopt this policy, you can thank dangerhair feminists and trannies for this trend. Classical female beauty is offensive to them so it had to go. Then you get enablers like Alexander Battaglia from Digital Foundry calling the main character from Project Eve "a design from a by gone era" or "distracting in a bad way" but saying that the MC design from Forspoken is better suited for modern audiences. This is a general hardware whine but Sony really cheaped out on their SSD capacity this gen. The usable space is only 667gb compared to about 802gb on the Series X. It's not a world of difference, but when some games are around the 100gb mark like GTAV, FFVII Remake and GT7, you really start to feel the lack of capacity. I have to do the space juggle far more often on PS5 than I do on Xbox. Add to that the lack of Quick Resume functionality like on Xbox, and it does make PS5 the more annoying console to actually play on.

They didn't choose lead-free solder, they had to use it because of new EU regulations iirc. EU faggots fucked up the 360. The PS3 had its own problem known as YLOD. The Yellow Light of Death. I don't know what caused it. I knew a few people that got the YLOD and some PS3's even had the DRE issue the early model PS2's had. It didn't seem like the PS3 had as big of an issue with the YLOD as the 360 did with the RROD. Sony wasn't promising to fix peoples PS3's years after they bought them.
