Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

Has Hulu's hit monkey been discussed on here? I was given a recommendation for it after watching Archer, had my doubts at first since it was a marvel TV original and we all know how THOSE usually are. But I'm on the first episode and so far I'm legit impresseed. It's got the gore of Invincible and yet the off the walls writing of the boys. Frankly this is showing not everything Marvel makes is Coonsoomer capeshit. 8/10 so far.

Neat.

Also not really a reboot if all you’re doing is removing the 2016 version.
More like...necessary surgery than a reboot. But this is great, these voices are iconic.
He can't really get back all the original cast. There's one pretty big exception. But he can get pretty close!
Knowing Craig McCraken’s legacy, if he can deliver this with the original intention of what made PPG great in its heyday, then this will make the 2016 version look more like something that would make a CalArts graduate squirm in embarrassment.

If anything, between this and Genndy Tartakovsky making new cartoons again, it’s just nice to see the old guard not forget what made their gifts and talents beloved by all. I do hope this succeeds, even if something like this is considered to be an “old” cartoon.

Animated by Alex Henderson. The music itself is pretty meh IMO but the animation is impressive.
That was cool but it's web animation so put it in the Web Animation thread.

They deserve to squirm. They let their egos cripple things so badly the industry had to beg the old masters to put things straight again. That's a bittersweet pill all of them, both industry cogs and the studio heads, need to swallow.

>tfw not only are the old guard coming back and kicking ass, but new indie animators like Vivienne Medrano and the guys behind stuff like Murder Drones, Far-Fetched, and Monkey Wrench are giving the industry the kick in the pants it sorely needs

But how then could they have traveled back in time to meet the Flintstones in The Jetsons Meet the Flintstones?

(We do see the ground in the old 60s series, and it's apparently where the bums all live.)
It did predict a long-awaited Simpsons/Futurama crossover in 2014 (and also a Simpsons crossover with the short-lived The Critic in 1995).

Ironically Craig and Genndy are actually graduates from CalArts.
I know I grouse about Craig working on reboots currently but as people mentioned with Genndy and new indie cartoons coming around, there’s still some hope for western animation.
Indie animators are hamstrung by the fact that money can only produce so much, though.
Not as big as a problem with revenues such as Patreon and merchandise sales. SAG issues seem to be the bigger hamstring apparently.

To tie into my first post, so long as they keep rebooting shit, the only ones squirming will be the audiences. A consequence of the industry heads holding the IPs and hiring industry cogs to milk them.

George: JANE! JANE JANE! STOP THIS CRAZY THING! *Is stuck on a treadmill on the outside of an apartment miles in the air. *

Fred: WILMA! *bangs on the door so loud it wakes all the neighbors*

Shaggy: Here double ugly! Go buy yourself a new face! TA TA! *bounces away from an angry zombie in a money sack*

Tom Reading Jerry's "will": One custard pie!? LEMME HAVE IT! *gets a pie in the face*

Love or hate their work, you can't deny hanna barbera made entire generations of childhoods. From boomers to gen x and even a few millennials (thanks to reruns and later cartoon network)

I noticed it existed a while ago but had not got around to looking at it. If it's looking passable to people posting here I'll try to bump it up my list.

So far so good the opening act is full of gore and the animation is very fluid and expressive. You almost never see that level of attention in western animation these days let alone an action one. Glad it got recommended to me. Impressive that Marvel was able to make an adult animated series better than DC did. (The Harley Quinn show)

It's pretty good. Just watch out for the latter episodes.
