Saints Row thread

This is why the 2000s will always be a better decade than 2010s and this decade and we will never recreate that decade, EVER.
Dude, don't make me cry please. It's weird to see how bad things have gotten in the last 10 to 8 years. Being Anti-PC was everywhere back in the 2000s and PC culture somehow took over for some whatever reason.

Please tell me about it. Sure, hipster culture might be a thing back between the 90s and 2000s, but at least said culture was more of a niche thing, yet all of a sudden, it took over like an all-and-all viral epidemic by the end of the late 2000s after its recession, and by the 2010s, hipster culture took over the world, including our own pop culture that we've grown to love, with its series of virtue signaling, woke ideology, and other forms of political correctness and SJW bigotry and has gotten worse since then.

Don't remind me dude. I don't remember seeing any hipsters back in the 2000s until around the mid-2010s.

Watching that old SR2 trailer made me think..."God, please let this soulless plastic Fortnite/Tencent chink game looking reboot tank so hard that thousands upon thousands of unsold copies of it end up in landfills."

You know what? Mass Effect Andromeda had a similar, but not nearly as disgusting leadup to its release, and it ended up tanking hard. Here's a picture of a ton of 'em at a Goodwill several months after launch:
Mass Effect Andromeda on sale.jpg

That game came out in 2017, and its been littering discount bins ever since. I'm not a fan of the series, but this game seemed to kill it completely. and I know Mass Effect was pretty popular - much more popular than Saints Row, for sure.

The funny thing is, nobody learned a fuckin' thing about this. That was 5 years ago, and we're all so fatigued because this is the

we've seen a thousand times over. For years and years now. Saints Row will flop, and we'll be onto GTA6, only to go through this rigmarole once again. I think that's what offends me more than anything: the unbridled triteness. Saints Row gained ground as an answer to those disappointed by GTA4 going overboard on the slow paced gritty realism angle, making a name of itself as something of an iconoclast, only to become yet another element of our increasingly stagnant culture where there is nothing to look forward to. The game will flop, we all know this, because we've seen it dozens of times before. But, we keep discussing it, because there's fuck all else to really discuss in games right now. This past E3 was a fucking travesty. The two announced games I care about, Breath of the Wild 2 and Yakuza 8, are still possibly years out. Will we still see garbage exactly like this by 2027? Back in 2017, I would have figured Mass Effect Andromeda would be a distant memory we could all laugh at by 2022. It doesn't make financial or creative sense to make such mistakes, so logic would easily dictate that the games of 2022 should be much better, yet, here we are. So will games be this bad five years from now? Will we still see the same woke pandering to retards who don't care about video games? I don't have a fucking clue at this point. I wanna stay optimistic, but it's harder than ever.

The nightmare will end someday. It has to.

Trust me on this, I too am hoping nu-Saints Row crashes and burns faster than fucking Enron. I still have nostalgia for the first three Saints Row games (and yes, I will still defend the third until the end of time), and I'm hoping that once this new game flops hard, this will teach any and every publishers and dev teams cautionary lessons on how soulless reboots and cashgrabs have ruined companies reputations for the past few decades.

I remember enjoying the original Saints Row back in '06, playing with my buddies online, all of us having a great time and talking shit to each other online. Then we moved on to Saints Row 2 in '08 and it was even better. Who would have predicted the upcoming woke, brainwashing nightmare that would happen to gaming and society in general a few short years after that? There were so many great, creative games released every year that you could easily build up a backlog. Now the majority of games I have absolutely no interest in and the gaming industry is not even worth following anymore.

That's why I don't bother with modern games anymore and just stick to pre-PS4 era games. Thankfully, I have a massive collection to enjoy myself for the time being until the market crashes or they learn from their mistakes.

The nightmare will only end if so called “gamers” stop buying into pre-orders, digital only games and DLC that will either be gone or unable to get back when they shut down online gaming and move on to the next installment.

The worst part about this is that even in just five years, video games went from being laid back escapism to a charade of chores to go through. We don’t even have to mention GamerGate or Brianna Wu/Anita Sarkessian anymore since they’re largely irrelevant. What’s really stopping this industry from making memorable games in the near future is pic related:

On a brighter note, Saints Row 2's free to download until August 16 if you have Xbox Live Gold or Game Pass Ultimate, and the rest of the series is on sale for Xbox this week. If nothing else, Saints Row will actually have something good happen this month before that reboot makes a bigger embarrassment of it.

Probably until our generation enters retirement. These ideologues are not going away anytime soon with shit like ESG and federal government-mandated equity and inclusion.
It'll take a new generation to undo this mess.

Pray our generation isn't as long-lasting as the boomers who refuse to die a la Nancy Pelosi.

And if you have a PS Plus or whatever it is called, you can stream the game to play. Alongwith 3, IV, and Gat Out of Hell if you are that way inclined.

For ESGs, you would have to outlaw them in some way or fashion. And as for federal government-mandated equity and inclusion, you're going to have to abolish the bill that made into effect thanks to Obama signing it back in 2011.
