So much for fighting the capitalistic system.
NIMBYism is such a massive part of the ethos of the top of society. They may preach about how capitalism is evil and needs to be abolished, but what they really mean is that they want to abolish the means people can use to get into their socioeconomic class. They're champaign socialists in the most literal sense, and will stop at nothing until it's impossible for any new money to come along and crash their social clubs. Why do you think the promote all this woke stuff? It's to keep the middle and working classes at each others throats so they don't realize the top of society has been the ones ruining it for everyone else, and will never have to face the consequences for their actions.

So it's basically old money trying to control money flow.

Exactamundo. The elites will be damned before they have to share any real estate atop of the heap with an unwashed peasant who got there using the sweat of their brow and an indomitable spirit. They are the type to publicly complain how the system is broken and the American Dream is dead, but are working hard to break the system and make the American Dream unobtainable. They view us as worthless peons whose rightful place is beneath their boot heel, and any attempt to work towards a higher station must be aggressively snuffed out.

@Gehenna I'm curious about your take on this.
I’m curious as well. I do want to see a red wave but on the other hand don’t get too high on hopium and don’t underestimate the insanity and drivel of the left. It’s almost certain fuckery will be a foot for this fall.
McConnel is a long adherent to polling prediction standards. I've explained this before but its dry stuff so not surprised if nobody remembers.

When you are looking at polling for an election you end up with a range of possible results. The standard is that you assume the worst possible result for yourself and the best possible result for your opponent in polling. This tells you how close it can be and you set your expectations accordingly, as well as your effort and funding according.

I.E. The polling says I can get 30-40% of a voting bloc to vote for me, with an election where there are three candidates. Myself, my main opponent, and a third party. Standard predictions would then be I get 30%, and my opponent eats up all votes from the third party for 70%. This tells me the worst case scenario. I then look at the range, eating that extra 10% would provide a significant net shift, and would be worthwhile to then invest time and funding in trying to gain a portion of that.

So in the predictive models McConnell has, the worst case scenario is several tight races.

Just living with your parents is more dignified than having them pay deep into the 5 digits per year until you're 50. Here's your opening Oz, just pretend he's an armenian and go crazy.
That is pretty crazy tbh
The guy is half dead to begin with and now we find out he's been mooching off his family for 49 years

That railroad worker strike I posted about a while ago is apparently set to go on August 15th unless Biden and Congress decide to prevent it.

Good old blue collar Joe supportin' workers rights.

Ah. This will be a shit show.
I know I've heard some concern already, but at some point the military is gonna have to really step in and say "You need to stop". Not in like some coup way, but the reserve is essential to all of them not running out of gas halfway through fighting in Taiwan or the like. That being said, when they do start raising those alarms louder, I expect the media to paint it as a military coup, because its more fun that way.

I do wonder what the plan is if the shitshow outlasts the SPR. I know they don't have an active one, but I'm sure someone has tabled some ideas, and I'd kill to see them.
The military couldn't stop Nancy Pelosi from visiting Taiwan. Pretty sure no one is paying any damn attention to the military at this point.
I wonder if he's finally entered that phase of Dementia where he's just mean or if that recent paper about Amyloid Plaque Hypothesis causing Alzheimers being bunk scared the shit out of his handlers.
Alex Jones had leaks from the secret service implying that Joe was already in the "mean" phase. He was shitting his clothes on purpose just to make his staff clean it up if I remember correctly. And this was... Six months ago? Odds are the Meds burned Biden out and are causing more damage than helping at this point.

The best thing that could be done to embarrass Fetterman in front of voters is to bring up his little "shotgun incident" where he pointed a loaded one at a black jogger (one who was actually jogging and not the usual euphemism) back in 2013, which Fetterman seems to brush off as if it weren't a big deal.

One may default to think "presidential/vice-presidential run" but I doubt it'll be that. It could be anything, really. But whatever it is, it's going to make all the right bastards in the establishment angry.
I think there is a pretty good chance it could be some kind of news relating to legislation or announcing his endorsement of Trump if he wants to campaign for president. If its some kind of "presidential/vice-presidential" run it could potentially play right into the hands of opposition who want Trump and DeSantis to joust against one another in a primary.

God has a twisted sense of humor.

Thanks for providing. Vid rip below. The context does soften the impact somewhat since a lot of his followers at this point, the people actually following him, lost their sense of nuance and perception a while back. But tbh it's not much better. He misquoted Trump directly and went right to "take down those rapist Mexicans" which implies he thinks that and is using Trump as a mask for his own beliefs.
Again, to his true blue followers with the context it probably doesn't matter much. But it's still not a good look considering some of the other shit he's said, such as my favorite, "poor kids can be just as smart as white kids".
Also the second half of the full vid is fuckin gold.

How recent was that? Was that in 2020?

It's because the city of Berkeley is so in love with NIMBYism that anything to construct more housing needs a violent response. The city sued UC Berkeley to stop it from building more student housing.
Reread that article. The locals sued the school because the school admitted more students without building more housing for them. The school was trying to build a new lecture hall, not dormitories. They added 2700 new students (mostly undergrads) and the project would include 150 dorm rooms for grad students. Where are the other 2550 students supposed to live?
The decision was the result of a legal battle with a residents’ group, Save Berkeley’s Neighborhoods, that had accused the university of failing to provide enough on-campus housing while at the same time admitting high numbers of students, many of them from other states or countries.
