While there are reasons to distrust bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general, it's doubtful Fatty McPatty knows any of them. Like @Dragged Into Sunlight said, he's just repeating what he's heard online.

At the annual Berkshire-Hathaway shareholder meeting, billionaire investor Warren Buffet declared he wouldn't buy all the bitcoin in the world for $20- but if you were to offer him 1% of all the farmland in the USA for $25 billion, he'd have the money in your hands by lunchtime. The reason he said this is because he's a student of the famous Dean of Wall Street, Benjamin Graham, and Mr. Graham asked a question that all investors should ask: if you could buy any asset you wished and hold it for as long as you wished, but you could not in any way know the price of said asset, would you still buy it?

The heart of this question is an asset's intrinsic value- its value beyond the price of the asset (that is, what people are willing to pay for it). When Buffet says he'll buy 1% of America's farmland, it's because that farmland has value beyond the price: people need to eat, and that farmland will produce the food. The companies he buys and invests in also have value beyond the price. One example: Coca-Cola. It pays a dividend (meaning Buffet gets money simply for owning its stock), but beyond that, it has a brand and a unique soda flavor that, while not valuable monetarily, is a hit with customers. How many Coke brand peripherals (grills, coolers, hats, etc.) have you seen? They have nothing to do with the soda, but everything to do with the brand. (Fun fact: Coca-Cola owns a copyright on the distinct shape of the Coke bottle. No other company in the world is allowed to manufacture bottles in the unique shape of Coke's bottles.) The Coke brand has value.

Bitcoin, on the other hand, seemingly has no value beyond what people are willing to pay for it (see the recent crash, from around $40k to below $20k) and the fact that it is hard-coded to have only 21 million bitcoin in existence (we're at around 19 million bitcoins). Calling it digital gold seems a bit exaggerated; gold can be used not just for currency, but also jewelry, medicine, food (!?), and more. Bitcoin, at this point in time, is simply lines of code on a computer, like this post. The only reason Bitcoin is worth more than this forum post is because people are willing to pay more (see also: Non-Fungible Tokens). Currently, Bitcoin has no intrinsic value.

Buffet was born in the Great Depression, and has lived through multiple recessions, so he has seen flash-in-the-pan companies and assets rise and fall. Assuming Bitcoin survives the next, say, thirty years or so, value investors like Buffet (assuming he lives that long) may give it a second look.

I’m too busy with every day life and work these days but I’m a big warhammer 40k fan, the table top game, the lore - it’s community is pretty chill still. I hope it doesn’t creep in but it will, inevitably.

I remember on the Reddit once people started asking questions like “why aren’t there any female primarchs?” “Why isn’t there any homosexuality in the imperium in the lore?” spoiling for fights and even though it was shut down with common sense aka “please don’t bring that crap here, everyone has always been welcome” it made me mentally check out from the fandom, it’s infested absolutely everything.

I fucking hate these people that have ruined gencon who Pat is trying to grift now.
Every so often, Astartes trends on Twitter. It has nothing to do with the excellent YouTube animation, and everything to do with Muh Female Space Marines. They claim to be fans of the game, but try to change things once they join, and howl "Gatekeeping!" when you try to stop them. It's damn depressing.

The Ponzi scheme thing shows that someone is so utterly ignorant he doesn't know what a cryptocurrency is or how it works, which is understandable if you haven't been following their development since the '90s, but also, you don't understand what a Ponzi scheme is or how it doesn't work, which should be common cultural knowledge to anyone who is not an abject moron.

Pat isn't just ignorant, he's too deeply dumb even to be educated, even if you could somehow convince this piglike rooting subhuman to want to learn anything.

What I'd heard made is sound like Vampire the Masquerade was now fully cucked. They've got an anti-fascist disclaimer in their book asking the alt-right not to play it, and shout-outs to diversity and inclusion.
How did we get from quality products that want to be purchased to producers outright saying they dont want certain kinds of people buying their products while simultaneously producing crap ON PURPOSE? Is this what happens when every Tom The Amazon Warehouser thinks his opinion on war, politics and technology is relevant to anyone who isn't low IQ? Like idiots used to joke with each other about topics above them, but they didn't used to be able to force people to comply with them

It's the 1.2 GPA in action. Patrick is Dunning-Kreuger embodied.

And fat. We mustn't forget he's fat.

All these GenCon people need to do is uninvite Dorque and it'd be over. They're as bad as he is.
Probably. But they've also shown themselves to be the softest, easiest trolling targets there are.

Unlike Rick, I'm sure even they, wriggling with glee over getting something that resembles actual harassment, would know to block and not feed the trolls.

In the back of their minds they know if they do somehow encounter one of these meanies and they escalate the situation (complete with weapons), someone could potentially get hurt.
Which is why they're so happy to be Tough NonBinary They/Thems about it, because in the back of their minds they also know that it won't ever come to that. Mostly because they believe their enemies are cowards, but also because there's a little bit of them that's aware that words on the internet don't translate into real life. Because for all the ACAB 1312 they are on Twitter, they're 100% calling the cops at the first hint that someone might actually start something near them.

You're right that they want another incident they can posture about endlessly. They just only want it if it doesn't involve them. People they know would be ideal victims - that way they can claim a personal connection to the crime and milk it thoroughly while not suffering the real mental trauma of something bad happening to the only person they care about.

My absolute favorite manifestations of this are the soyboys who post things like "if any w*m*n out there feel scared walking to the bathroom and want a 5'8" 275 pound mound of lustful malding flesh to escort them into the stall, just message me." They are slithering out from under every rock at Gencon and it never gets old.

Is shadowrun still safe?

Vampire the masquerade and Werewolf seemed to be still the domain of nerds, poser goths and metal heads last I checked.
Sorry my friend, but Shadowrun is likely pretty infected with it, or will be soon. I follow a few of the authors (who at times have decent writing) on a throwaway FB account, and even just one was enough to fill a ABC book with the pandering to the gender alphabets. I’ve mostly been out of the game since early 5th Ed, and they just dropped 6th, so it wouldn’t surprise me if they put in a bunch of woke garbage.

Found this gem on the "New" OnA forums. All Credit goes to user "Brooke Shields" on the forum.

seeing the photo in the video fo fatrick wearing a spock's brain shirt reminds me he unironically said spock's brain is one of the best episodes.you know, the episode which every fan with a G.P.A. above 1.8 says is objectively one of the worst episodes of the original series. so not only is fatrick fat, but he is clinically retarded.

also, good song.

I have a friend at gencon rn, they're charging 20 dollars per seat to play shadowrun and no one is paying. For comparison, other games charge 2-5 dollars a seat as a way to stop people from booking tickets and not showing up. Usually shadowrun is completely booked but even indie trpgs are doing better than it.

As an aside, my friend at gencon hasn't heard a thing about fatrick being harassed at the con. He doesn't have Twitter and no one else that he asked about it knew what he was talking about. This big threat at gencon seems be known only to the twitter addicts.

I bet people are just fed up with their sloppy products. The last book I bought from them had huge layout errors, and reference charts were just empty. Even if they paid me to read it I would have felt cheated. Charging $20 to play at their table when the products are already so bad is insulting.

Crypto may be a literal ponzi scheme but you know what isn't? Negro child pepperoni. Consistent returns year after year. A man could live to become extremely and hideously fat off of such a portfolio.

I knew a girl named Niki
I guess you could say she was a pep fiend
I met her in a GenCon lobby
Masturbating with a calzone
She said, "How'd you like to waste some time?"
And I could not resist when I saw little Nikki grind
