Okay managed to kill Consul B and now I'm grinding Colony 9's side quests.

I have mostly been to Kevesi colonies. Has it just happened to be my experience or do you start seeing more Agnus further down the line?

I'm heading near a Agnus colony in the story in the latter half of chapter 3 and I am pretty sure from spoilers I stumbled into that my next hero is from Agnus, so you'll see Agnus fairly soon. Also the hero after the dumb and useless shield guy is really fucking good and my favorite of the four I've gotten, holy shit are they fun to use in chain attacks.

I don't get if I'm missing tricks to fighting the consults, I feel like I miss in DPS since in no point during the fight I'm in any real danger. The worse was Consul B since he has armour that I have no idea how you could break, so every attack bounced off him.
Also I don't get how to have more than 3 rounds during chain attacks, I have more than 3 characters who can attack but the game still ends the chain.

Consul B just has a high ass block rate at some points in the fight, it just happens. Your best answer is to try to keep him on his ass and use Sena's order during chain attacks asap if you want max damage alongside Noah's. Also if you're playing on normal the game's a joke, hard mode is a pretty large difficulty spike and the only time the game has any real teeth (especially with bonus exp as it is easy to over level especially by chapter 3). If you want danger you pretty much need to play on hard unless you're bad pretty much, hard mode enemies are a bit spongey if you don't know what you're doing but they are a legit threat and are generally fair by chapter 3. Consults just have annoying mechanics you have to deal with.

You can get 4 rounds in a chain attack if you have a hero order as hero orders don't spend your gauge on the bottom right, if you use an main party member it will. So if you go say Noah > Taion > Lanz you end on Lanz, if you go Noan > Taion > Hero > Lanz this gets you 4 rounds with you ending on Lanz. Chain attacks end with either you run out of characters, the gauge is spent, you end it yourself, or one final mechanic you get at the end of chapter 3 auto ends it.

To get 5 rounds you have to end round 4 on a finished ouroboros pair of orders aka Noah/Mio, Taion/Eunie, or Lanz/Sena. This can be done in any order so starting on Noah and ending on Mio counts just as going Lanz > Sena also counts. Once you do this you can get an Ouroboros order immediately and this gives you the full party back no matter what for the final round. Ouroboros orders end the chain attack IMMEDIATELY after they're executed because they do a fuck ton of damage, so don't use them early. Most the time the game will let you finish a pair if you're paying attention.

The problem is that I still play with suboptimal classes since the game locks the regular class level at 10 and gives me new classes for characters who's role doesn't fit. So either play correct optimized class and miss EXP or have a hard fight. Also still waiting for more classes to know Break.

For Consul B I played as Eunie as Medic Gunner. Consul B's gimmicks are the throw, his block rate and making medics useless so maining a medic during that fight is the best call as you can avoid all three of those by staying far away. Since Zeon pulls aggro I'd 100% recommend going with 3 Medics like someone said here already.

As for the block/shield he does early in the fight,
there is an Art for Noah's Ouroboros called Bounding End that should help you bypass that at the beginning and get going early fight.

EDIT:

This is why everyone hates game journalists:

Some choice quotes:

I’m not even sure the game can be finished because, at 25 hours in, it’s still throwing new mechanics and tutorials at me that increasingly complicate an already complicated game. That said, I’m strangely compelled by its combat, which makes it feel like an MMORPG, and its nigh-incomprehensible story. Half the time, I don’t know what’s going on, mechanically or narratively, but I’m enjoying it.
I concede the mechanics are indeed complicated but they are not even close to incomprehensible. You just gotta engage with the game. Anyone wanna bet she was playing on easy or normal? Also, the narrative is relatively easy to follow 25 hours in. Hell that should be around Chapter 3 or 4 if they are just going through the motions, and it has just started to lay out some food for you to theorize what is going on. Welp, guess you aren't playing a cat so it's too complicated uwu.

Let me disclose two things up front. Firstly, I haven’t finished this game. It’s a JRPG; those things take upward of 60 hours to complete. And even with the wealth of time Nintendo gave us — a luxurious full month — it’s just not enough. I’m only 25 hours in with an untold amount to go. Secondly, I’ve never played a Xenoblade game before. I’m a Final Fantasy girl, and the Xenoblade series came at a time when my tastes in JRPGs had long been calcified.
Then why play a 60+hours RPG for the review? Couldn't they get someone who actually plays RPGs oh...it's The Verge... "They gave us a full 720 hours to review the game and I was only able to get 25 hours in." Holy shit how inept are you.

For as much as I enjoy combat, beyond positioning, the mechanics make no sense to me. There are icons under abilities that are never explained and do not have an entry in the game’s byzantine tips section. There are ways to chain attacks together (which is unhelpfully called “cancelling attacks”) that I never quite got the hang of. You have to start one attack as the previous one lands for a minor boost in damage, but the timing seems finicky. Combat is chaotic on its own, and trying to play a rhythm game as you’re dancing around enemies is asking a bit too much.

Chain attacks, though, are the worst. When you’ve filled a special meter, you can trigger a chain attack for massive damage, making them critical for boss fights. Chain attacks take you out of the battlefield into a separate screen where you can pick a special ability that, in order to execute, you must choose a sequence of smaller attacks to build up to 100 percent or more.

I play mostly suboptimal classes in every boss fight I've done in hard mode, and I'd say half of them I use whatever I'm leveling at the time save for maybe one or two switches to a level 10 if I struggle for too long. It isn't that bad, it is mostly about tardwrangling the AI and having your general bases covered. Also you can easily get EXP by just farming NMs, near colony 9 their is a cave you can swim into just before you reach the first rest spot you see in the game.

There is an NM called Househunter Carly (Its one of those rock crabs), it drops an item that increases your class aptitude which makes leveling it faster. You can just kill it over and over until about level 28 on easy mode and farm class levels that way with chain attack overkills. Easy mode appears to give you a massive bonus to your chain attack damage so overkilling is very easy alongside the enemies' low hp.

The problem with that method is that you might as well just overlevel if you are going to grind anyways.

Also how do you get full chain attack meter at the beginning of the combat? Most cases by the time I fill it up the tough enemy is already dead.

It is maybe 2 NMs worth of exp at most, especially if you overkill, it isn't a big deal imo if you play on hard in the story anyway as not even overleveling a level or two super helps. It is better then the game just falling over on normal mode, and even then I did most bosses with classes I was leveling anyway so it isn't impossible to just do it with people in level 2 or 3 in a class and maybe two people at level 7 (I just did that in chapter 3). Also that accessory from Househunter Carly makes leveling classes not take forever especially on those with C or D rank affinity so you want to farm it anyway so might as well do it now. Also if you're overleveled you get less exp anyway, so if you're past level 21 then you'll barely get anything from that NM besides the accessory drop.

You have to set the AI to fusion arts focus and then cancel and use your fusion arts as much as possible. That usually is enough to just barely get me where I need to be even on easy mode if I'm not stupid overleveled vs the NM. I never start with full chain meter I usually get it (on non-hard mode) by the time the enemy is at 50% or less hp.

Even though he is most definitely dead by the time this game takes place, Uraya still did not deserve to be shot by that giant cannon

Why doesn't anyone learn the gunner class? It's stuck on zero for anyone but Yunie
Is Gunner one learned from a hero?

The thing I am happiest about (so far) is that I haven't seen any troons trying to claim that the male/female characters joining into a mech is some sort of trans allegory and that Ouroborous is a metaphor for the patriarchy (Or TERFs) trying to attack or control them. I'm honestly I haven't seen some looney try and argue this.

Probably because there’s a pretty blatant romantic subtext, or in Noah and Mio’s cases straight up text, and twitter/resetera trannies have little experience with anything resembling relationships that don’t involve licking axewounds. I think it’s probably tellijg that the only troony thing of note in the localization is the hero character with the most boring quest I’ve done so far.

Appearantly it's because I'm over 5 levels above the current area (thought the level up button at camp would allow to set all levels rather than maximize all levels). Also finally finished up chapter 3. Hopefully the plot start picking up this chapter since the cast is getting pretty boring. Makes me realize I liked how over the top 2's cast was.

You can set the levels individually if you don't hit the "level to max" button. And yes if you're over 5 levels of the enemy you're fighting you gain effectively no class progress.

I finished chapter 3 and I dunno, I like this cast well enough. They aren't as whacky or in your face as 2 obviously, but I like how Lanz has this survivors guilt aspect to him while being a Reyn stand-in for "guy who knows he's the muscle and is okay with that" thing that Reyn had. It makes his starting role as the tank kind of fitting. They also don't make him just a constant gag character either like most muscle heads tend to get, which was why I liked Reyn in the first place and Lanz is at least on the surface a more compelling version of Reyn to me.

Taion is actually a good "smart guy" character that anime tends to use poorly. He's not portrayed as the only intelligent one in the room as Noah tends to pick up on thing shortly after Taion does and Eunie and Mio aren't retarded either, only Lanz and Sena could be considered dumb. He also isn't just an asshole either, he actually parallels and relates nicely with Lanz of all characters in that they're both people who are somewhat subtly driven by their emotions over their personal losses despite being opposites in almost every way.

I find Mio's looming dread over nearly fading away compelling and the stuff they hint with Eunie is pretty fucked up to me. Only Sena hasn't really done anything for me, but I think she's more meant to help ensure we have some positivity and pep to this otherwise pretty dower and depressing cast.

Noah I think will get some Shulk-esque twist eventually where in the last 3rd of the game he'll hit a wall and be forced to do something besides mope around and talk silently, their is some really weird stuff being hinted at with him when they introduce Consul N and he clearly has only one red iris that just so happens to be on the same eye as Noah's iris. Which with Consul J and Eunie's stuff I think hints at something about to happen that'll fuck Noah up. This is Xenoblade, these little things always come up at some point just like Shulk's "two voices" line did in 1

The obvious twist being built up is that the game villains are aged up versions of the protagonists and heros, that N dude is 100% adult Noah and the queens are the Eunie and cat girl Melia and Mio's mom

Edit: Welp got to the tranny archer. She doesn't have the usual tranny lisp but I'm switching to Japanese anyways.

I'm getting this game used because fuck translators.

Can someone who isn't as stupid as me explain the picture that's spoilered?
It's a picture of the main cast of Xenoblade 2 which shows up near the end (at the very end? I haven't gotten there yet) of Xenoblade 3. The one in the middle is the main protagonist, Rex, who was an annoying 15 year old kid in the game but grew up to be a chad who married all three of his lovers. And by the rules of the Xenoblade 2 universe none of them of them should be able to get pregnant but Rex is a gigachad and doesn't care about the laws of reality.

Anyway, this picture is hilarious for a couple reasons. First is that the woman on the right (Nia) declared her love to Rex in the middle of a tense cut scene and his response was "I love you...and all you guys!" which sounds he hardcore friendzoned her. But this picture confirms he did love her like that. The other funny thing is that the fandom has had shipping wars for the last 5 years about who Rex "should" end up with and this picture is the very Rex answer to them. Of course the guy who's determined to save everyone also gets all the ladies.

Is Gunner one learned from a hero?
Yeah from Gray. You can start his quest above the waterfall near the entrance of Millick Meadows once you unlock climbing. One of the best classes too, great DPS and AOE attacks.

Why doesn't anyone learn the gunner class? It's stuck on zero for anyone but Yunie
Put the hero in your party for a while, that unlocks the classes a lot faster. Otherwise it's pretty common to get to 10 on the first character without unlocking it on anyone else.

The thing I am happiest about (so far) is that I haven't seen any troons trying to claim that the male/female characters joining into a mech is some sort of trans allegory and that Ouroborous is a metaphor for the patriarchy (Or TERFs) trying to attack or control them. Same, especially since there's so many trannies in the fandom. There was a bit of this early on before the Agnus forms were revealed, mostly jokes about Taion being trans because of who feminine Eunie's form is but those more or less disappeared after the other forms were shown.

But I'm sure bad tranny interpretations of the game will start showing up in a few weeks as more and more people finish the game and have time to spit out hot takes. Of course since all troons are part of the same retarded hivemind, really it's just gonna be a bunch of memes like "Mio says trans rights" and "Eunie says TERFs get the bullet". They'll probably mostly stick to Nia's character arc though since it can be read as a trans allegory a lot more easily than anything I've encountered in 3 so far (even though it's really closer to a detransition allegory).

Edit: Welp got to the tranny archer. She doesn't have the usual tranny lisp but I'm switching to Japanese anyways.
She doesn't have a lisp because her voice actress is a zero effort, non-binary person (so a woman with short hair). There's zero tells (so far at least) that she's "non-binary" except Taion referring to her as "they". So for all I care he just misgendered her and the rest of the party rolled with it even though non-binaries make even less sense in the context of the game than they do in real life. Her hero quest and class suck though, which is probably the most trans thing about her.
