Robert’s Anime Corner Store is pretty good. In his recent email, he actually used the Grim Reaper meme to mock the idea of Sony buying his own site after they did it with Funimation, Crunchyroll and RightStuf.

I had already been a bit standoffish with them for a long time. As much as the store was probably useful to people and had good sales once in while, they really seemed in bed with the stupid crowd including ANN. I'm not surprised they would be so deluded that they would think something like this would go over well, but it reads like a retirement pay-out so Mr. Dark Lord Anime Store Guy might not actually care about selling out the fandom. I hope he gets a lot of oversized pork tenderloin sandwiches out of it, because RightStuf's rep is in the toilet now.

I am not sure how it will be moving forward for the company, but my last two sale orders arrived and the items were simply wrapped in shipping paper and surrounded by more of it instead of using the cardboard padding frame that holds your items in place. Granted, this may have been due to the sale but I hope that this isn't the level of quality they'll use for shipping in the future. The ecchi title was still sent from them, not EroAnimeStore so that previous email they sent was confusing. Maybe they finally realized it's not an adult item, since it's still listed on the shop.

Last time I checked they liked isekai such as Fushigi Yuugi, Inuyasha and The Twelve Kingdoms. Even Digimon can be considered one as well. I'm having Déjà vu with all these complaints. Remove isekai and replace it with ecchi, fanservice, mecha or moé. It's all the same bellyaching. All these idiots do is complain about things they feel personally attacked over and talk shit about those who go against their agenda. For example, Bamboo Dong reviewed the Project A-ko 2 remaster and just had to push the narrative that the burly women are bad since they look like troons. I'm sure everyone else enjoyed it and there weren't any "fans kind of squirming" in their seats. Leave that to Justin when he misgendering a tranny in the audience.

I'll never understand their thing for negatively comparing modern LN isekai to those classic shojo isekai. It's literally completely different niches whose sole similarity is the basic "transported to another world" trope that's existed as long as literature has.

Even Digimon can be considered one as well.

Y'know, I wonder how many people on ANN have watched Digimon besides Hope. Nick still uses Mimi as his avatar on the forums, and I know both Adventure 2020 and Ghost Game got generally positive reviews on the Preview Guide even though none of them watched past those first episodes, but that's it.

I dunno, the sad honest truth is Right Stuf's overall quality has been slipping these past few years. Like there web site, I used to love it, but it just got crappier and crappier just like the customer service did too. I personally think the "dark lord " mentality checked out on his own company years ago, now he got paid to off load what's most likely a financial sink hole at this point. Good for him for being savvy, bad for us, can't blame him though...

Looks like Isekai existed before anime did, and in anime it existed before Osamu Tezuka was born.

Also if you want to look at the RightStuf situation from a non-blackpilled perspective, these old companies being gobbled up by a corporate monster is a good opportunity to build new competition that has no connection to this same group of gaijin oldfags who all went on the ANN podcast and did nothing to stop the fandom from getting to the horrible state it is now. I feel like something like this has been needed for 10 years honestly.

But of course, you would need non-SJWs with backbone to actually take advantage of the situation like what ComicsGate was trying to do. Maybe Vic's dubbing studio could be part of that who knows. And even if it can't really compete on equal market share basis, I think people would be just fine with having something non-Sony to support, kind of like how your local amusement park doesn't need to go up against Disney World.

I remember seeing I think it was Kodansha giving money to MAL instead of them.
