I've always wondered what Senator Armstrong's deal was, is he supposed to be a lolbertarian? He's got a yellow tie like the Gasden flag and he's talking about social Darwinism like a caricature of a libertarian.

Armstrong was all about absolute freedom, so long as you could keep it. PMCs got in the way by corrupting the fight for it with greed and money. It reflects his theme song in how society values wealth but not the hard work that goes to achieve it and the complete lack of it now. Ironically, Raiden beating him with violence is just acting within his view and why Armstrong doesn't see his loss as one at all. Raiden outright does what he wanted to do the hard way through cutting up PMCs in the end.

He's an extreme social Darwinist and eugenics fan like virtually all Metal gear villains I don't think it was ever explicitly mentioned if he was a Democrat or a Republican politician.

I'm hearing some crowing on Twitter that the "filed incorrectly" thing might be what they're aiming for, that he moved Classified dox over to MAL. A convincing counter argument is that by law, Trump is the final say in anything being classified or not, and if he improperly filed it, it becomes unclassified immediately.

No, this is beyond the establishment war at this point. The power bickering factions have grown desperate, and in their desperation, one of them has attacked a third party in an effort to gain a leg up. Being the part of the group that 'Toppled Trump' is a political win in their side, if they can achieve it.

Unfortunately, they've just arrayed all the external powers violently against them. It would be like the US-China conflict increasing in their bickering, and then China nukes Taiwan - Everyone in the world, not just the USA, suddenly has a life and death involvement in making sure China loses the battle.

Unfortunately for the establishment, the wider public isn't going to distinguish between the factions very easily. This just put a massive timer on the establishment conflict if nothing else, they HAVE to unify under someone to manage this fuckup, fast.

China already knows there's chaos in the Executive, Russia does as well, this is why they went into Ukraine. All this says is the usual suspects in the US are determined to hang on whatever the cost. It smells of desperation and fear, like a banana republic strongman trying to impose his will on the populace when the serfs are making demands. The problem is the conditions they've created in the US are ripe for exploitation by any number of actors, from hostile to friendly, for their benefit.

The idea is that he's right about America going down to 3rd world tier and waging useless controlled wars, but its his absurdly extreme plan to fix it is just completely sociopathic and without a shred of humanity.
At the end its implied Raiden actually agreed with Armstrong but had a different plan to fix shit as he went rouge and split from his mercenary team to become a vigilante wanted by the government
