What conspiracy theories do you believe in? - Put your tinfoil hats on

For all "fake internet" believers;

I stumbled onto a strange account today. I was browsing the Cookie Clicker subreddit and noticed this odd, unrelated comment:

The post is about cookie clicker's minigame, stock market. This comment is completely out of touch, and it looks like a bot account made a comment based of some trigger words.

The whole account Marktaylorr makes these kind of comments. Probably a bot user.
Bit late to this one, but check this out: https://forum.agoraroad.com/index.p...net-theory-most-of-the-internet-is-fake.3011/

Years ago I was teaching at a community college classes about "Logic and Fallacy", "Ethics", "Journalism", etc. And every group I had I introduced the idea of "Flat Earth" into my teachings.

I reasoned that the Earth could be flat and you will never know it cause the chance of actually seeing it for yourself would be nill or close to it. Pictures could be doctored, history could be rearranged, statements could be manufactured, etc. And because our society tends to alienate people with opinions and ideas that went against the majority, we accept willingly the word of others if they are put in a "cientific" statement, even if we don't know who said or why, we believe "the experts".

If an "expert" says it we must believe it. We are conditioned to believe it with no questions.

And the Flat Earther all they do is ask questions and in turn they get ostrize or ridiculed, regardless of merit for their questions. Questions that rise from individuality and human curiosity outside of societal constructs.

We live in an age of technology that has been increasing since the 40' with the advent of TV and moving pictures. Who's to say what is real or not right now?

My point was to put pressure and make them critically analize every piece of media and information they come across, logically and rationalize it based on facts in lieu of properly distinguish propaganda and not to fall into it.

Do I believe in a Flat Earth? Fuck no, that's retarded! But the important thing is not be an NPC and ask questions.

I get your point and all, but you could do the measurements yourself.

I think some skeptical lads did it recently; they tried to measure the rotation of the earth over a period of time; needless to say, their result was pretty much on par with the expected, mathematically calculated outcome, proving that what we know about the trajectory of Earth is true.

Another thing is, we rely on intricate webs of satellite for our GPS and mobile data. These rely on the Earth's orbit to function, proving pretty much that the Earth is round and that gravity exists. They don't just float in air, they move around at predictable patterns and are able to rely data. We also had countless drones sent out in orbit and outside to confirm our calculations.

There's not so much 'listen and believe' as there is "I have little to no understanding of physics and no intellect as well, and my assumption is based on faith/hearsay than my own observations".

Anyway, there's so many 'experiments' you can do yourself, from measuring the height of a tall building in the distance, to actually measuring the rotation of the Earth. Humans have done pretty much all of them to conclude the Earth is a round planet. It's a fact.

I still wouldn't be amazed if 9/11 was a 9/11 conspiracy

Like, real planes with real passengers hijacked by real Al-Queidas, just with help planning and getting away with it

Presuming the goal was to shock Americans into supporting everything that came after, the towers would need to fall for sufficient drama and there's no guarantee the planes would do the trick, some bombs could help

Building 7 is the part that still irks me

The Alex Jones trial made me look into Sandy Hook, and now I'm half convinced that Adam Lanza was made up and the whole thing was a simulation that they pretended was real for political gain.
Its quite common, with many incidents throughout modern history. You have to wonder how much of any incident you really know about, if something as large as Sandy Hook, which I assume you at least knew about, yet upon actually learning about it somewhat changes your opinion about it. You start to wonder what happens that is just a normal occurrence anymore.

Futility, thy name is Fek.

You say it's important to not be an NPC and ask questions, yet you shut the argument down immediately denouncing it as stupid. I'm curious as to how you presented the argument to the class, considering this mindset.

It will never ever cease to amaze me how quickly others will spring all over people with certain takes on how the world works with this sort of crap. This tells me that you have never once in your entire life looked into the other side of the issue (and I don't mean "I put 'flat earth' into youtube and clicked on the first link"). If you did, you would also find completely sound arguments by quite sane people which support a "flat" model as well. You may not agree, but the methodology is there plain for all to see just waiting for someone to dismantle the argument instead of getting scared/disingenuous and calling it stupid.

And fucking lmao @ mocking those people as assuming things based on faith/hearsay vs their own observations. I have seen a plethora of observable/demonstrable experiments done by people in the flat camp compared to people in camp globe. Camp globe has some observable "facts" (that can actually be shown to work for both models), sure, but most of it relies on incredibly complex math, ridiculous unobservable phenomena, and cgi/"composite images" to wow over the public. They can't even keep their math straight, because people throughout history have called them on their bullshit. They have to run off and invent a new term or push celestial bodies further and further away from us to make their junk math even work out, lmao.

Beyond all that - you wanna talk observations? Let me know when you fly up in a rocket ship and see the Earth spinning through the cosmos instead of taking some twat in a lab coat or a completely bogus Michelin Man suit's word for it. Let me know when you find some raw video feed from "outer space" (read: not low earth orbit) without any doctoring or fish-eye lens.

Faith/hearsay, indeed!

It astounds me how taboo this topic seems to be for some people. Like you can't bring it up without making sure that at some point in your dialogue the people presenting the argument are denounced and usually insulted fervently. You never once dare to try and address points as they are raised as most people would for (almost) every single other topic in existence.

Actual cult-like behavior of shunning the heretic, lest their words poison your minds with the seeds of doubt. Lmao.

I haven't even fully made my mind up (neither should any of you) on the matter, but even daring to hear people out in camp flat is enough for people to turn their nose at you. It's hilarious. Like SCIENCE™ has been wrong about many (dare I say most) of its hot takes throughout our recorded history as we know it...but they totally got it 100% right this time, amirite?

Anytime throughout history that a voice of authority clamps down on a topic and only filters knowledge through their particular lens before it reaches the plebs is just the best sign they're being truthful, right?

Fucking please.

There's no completely sound arguments that the Earth is flat, my dude.

I told you, "camp flat" has done some experiments that proved 'camp globe' right. I told you there's some experiments you can do yourself to calculate the curvature of Earth.

What 'camp flat' experiments were there that were successful?

I really want you to think about these:
* How do satelites and the ISS work?
* How does Google Map work?
* Why can you accurately pinpoint one's location on the (((globe))) using satellites?
* Why do planes work?
* Why can you go north from Canada/Alaska and reach Russia?

It's not taboo lol. You just need to dismiss PROVEN science that has been used as a staple for a lot of 20th century technology (mobile phones, GPS navigation, etc etc) because you simply "don't see it"?

Instead of proving anything you just rant about the SCIENCE™ and how much of an anti-authoritarian you are for not doing the minimal effort to research a basic topic.

And you claim you're the wise one and everyone else is retarded. The nerve.

Worse, a flat Earth goes against the basics of physics. By believing in a Flat Earth, you must, by necessity, disagree with gravity itself, and also even the most basic observations you can do yourself of a night sky with a telescope or even the naked eye.
Why are all celestial objects observably spherical, only the Earth is flat? Are physics different here?

My question to flat earth morons is always the same: What about the other planets, our moon, their moons, etc.? Is only Earf flat, or are the other planets flat too? Most of the flat earth morons just babble shit about all of them being tiny and high up in the sky. No, that doesn't make any sense or fit any of the available data, but when has that ever stopped flat earth morons? They usually just handwave it all away and claim it's all faked by scientists. Why scientists would do this, going back hundreds of years, remains unanswered.

And @Fek is definitely a flat-earther. He just won't openly cop to it because everyone would dunk on him for being a moron. Just admit it. I'll still think you're a moron, but that would be a step up from what I think about you now, which is that you're a dishonest moron. This whole "I'm just asking questions!" charade is just pathetic.

The nearly endless availability of degrading abusive BDSM and slavery orientated porn is allowed to freely propagate in order to desensitize and condition Society in accepting dehumanizing levels of abuse and allowing them to be groomed into accepting unhealthy relationship Dynamics. This conditioning will moreover allow people to be accustomed to viewing barbarism brutality and sadism as just a normal part of life. Instead of a society of people working to better themselves they ultimately turn on one another acting out their own individualistic power struggles continuously never bettering themselves or uniting instead perpetrating victimization amongst themselves.

But I'm sure that's just a conspiracy

By believing that planets in the sky (and respectively, stars) are tiny you must also believe the universal constants of distance are also wrong. Why can I see a 3dm radius disk in the sky, but I can't stretch my hand upwards and grab it?

I did no such thing. I very highly value all discussion here even when people disagree with me or I with them. I'm no better than anyone else posting here.
This whole "I'm just asking questions!" charade is just pathetic.
But that's exactly what I'm doing. I've found evidence that I cannot find sound answers for as presented by the official narrative. You may think whatever you wish of me, but I would much rather read your thoughts on the topic without the hubris.

I'm quite fond of the oblate spheroid idea, myself..just not quite the way you'd probably think of it.
I think flat earth is a go-to brought up to derail discussions of real conspiracies.
It's actually a second order distraction, if you want to be serious for a moment. There's an honest to goodness movement of people out there simply recording their observations and asking questions. It's a surprisingly genuine affair..

..but then there is an absolute dung heap of misdirection and malicious intent piled on top of it. A surprisingly well-funded and large bullshitter network of which their only intent seems to be to make the first group look as insane and stupid as possible. Dare I call it a conspiracy, even.

Like I get rolling one's eyes at the topic, but I promise you I've not brought it up for such a silly reason. I like this thread and all the discussion it spawns.
Along with some other bullshit and outrageous conspiracy theories, they're a distraction.
Okay, what would you like to discuss that you don't think is a distraction? Seriously, I'll talk about whatever you want.
