Considering the supposed swatting involved threats to gov officials under Keffals' name I could see that being the reason for holding onto hard drives. I don't think that the forums or the "swatter" are in Keffals' crosshairs, if anything, this whole thing has been a major boon with both intangible and material rewards. I think that the target of the lawlsuit will be the London police service and that he will attempt to sue them for their alleged misconduct and the "damages" that he suffered as a result of their handling of the case. Keffals might argue that had the London police heeded his brother's warnings and added him to a "no swat list", this whole debacle could have been avoided.
It's a bit tricky because this isn't really a case of swatting in the traditional sense. Your run-of-the-mill swatting usually involves some idiot ringing the police to say the "[Streamer] is in crisis, has a [Insert choice of deadly weapon here] and is an imminent threat to [themself/other(s)]". Police respond to what they believe is an immediate danger, no warrant or item seizures required, blah blah blah, you've seen it countless times before.
