Bella should have been put down after that attack but greedy, nasty Porklissa was too fucking fat and selfish to get her dog to a vet to treat a minor ear infection, instead opting to put her down then.

I wonder if anyone has reported them to animal control or the city health department. I have been trying to not comment on the animals because it makes me aloggy but I can’t hold it in.

A family member of mine adopted a retired rabbit beagle when the dog was 10. That dog lived to 14 1/2, and was raring to go until about the last two weeks of his life. Wonderful dog, but very much like an autistic toddler (and would eat to the point he made himself sick). I love hounds, but I should not own one and I'm aware of this.

I don't think she or the rest of the pro-UBI crowd realize that if *everyone* receives the same minimum income at regular intervals, costs and expenses increase as it's assumed everyone can now pay the same base level for goods and services. Sure, many people spent their COVID cash immediately -- sometimes for stuff they didn't need -- but inflation has run rampant ever since because so much more "free" money has been pumped into the economy. If I heard correctly the other day, it sounds like the end to (most if not) all of that money stream led to a "technical" recession as of the end of the second quarter of 2022 in that key metrics decreased for two consecutive quarters. Nobody thinks about or cares about the ramifications associated with "free money now!"

Sadly, this is true in a lot of areas, especially when any combination of budget or staffing are low. It takes something absolutely egregious or someone who is persona non grata with the local government to get hit hard by animal control or code enforcement. For better or worse, this could be the case in Polissa's rural hometown.

He also studied simple, pre-industrial human societies and came to the conclusion that in harsh environments, altruism and mutualism are in fact key for the survival of all the individuals within the community.

When he applied this to a possible future society, he quickly realized that this wouldn't work in a global economy, because it is nearly impossible to feel sympathy or altruism towards somebody you never met. Rather, Kropotkin imagined regionally connected communes which would help out each other locally. In a society like this, individuals are incentivized to help because they know the other and similarily motivated to be as productive as possible for themselves because they are in turn seen by everybody else they deal with. So a shirker who just takes would be just as much in danger of being cast out as a miser who never gives.
