Horrifying Things That Are Viewed As Normal

People reading what a blogger wrote about a blogger writing about snippets from an unauthorized biography and acting like they knew both what was said in a conversation years ago as well as its meaning.

I'm not even angry, just weirded out by how slender the threads are that lead people to find meaning and make judgements about the world. Of course passing judgment on matter you can't control is primarily a defense of the ego but it does engender a sort of feedback loop of delusion if your peers are doing the same thing.

Thé amount of food that so much of the western world waste us criminal, it’s a very world trouble cliche but you could literally feed an entire starving Malawian village with about half of the food a American high school cafeteria throws out. The waste and greed of humans is astounding even now.
This is retarded, we are not morally equal. Let the Malawi starve.

People moving to places like Phoenix and other desert areas to live in suburban developments with lawns.

Honestly suburban areas in general. They disconnect you from both nature and wider society beyond your personal bubble. You get none of the privacy and nature you get in rural areas and none of the anonymity and interaction with people from all walks of life that you get in a city. People just accept it as the American way of life even though it only took about 30 years from the 40s to the 70s to turn America into a suburban, car-dependent, fast-food-eating, socially-fractured wasteland.

Adults chewing gum, especially in a professional or work setting. The chewing sound is offensive to me.

College educated people reading things like People magazine or watching things like The Masked Singer or American Idol back in the day.
You're mad about people magazine but reading kiwi farms lmao

Probably already mentioned in this thread but casual sex. Nowadays, when people aren't interested in casual sex, they are chastised or laughed at. I have heard some women be told they simply 'haven't had good sex yet'. I'm not religious or an incel, but why can't people simply save themselves for a serious partner? I don't mean chastity, but not putting it out for complete strangers either. Its absurd.

edit: Sex without love is just masturbation. just wanted to add that in there

Even with a religious upbringing telling me that fornication is sinful, I didn't manage to escape this. The media tells us that sex is fun and should be done for fun. If there's no reason not to fornicate, why would anyone avoid it? Why would anyone simply save himself for a serious partner? If you sincerely believe that this life is all we get, why not take it for all its worth?

I'm asking this sincerely. Without meditation on God's Law, I'd still be a fornicator.

It's basic logic to limit your sexual partners. The more partners you have, the more likely it is for you to contract disease, a bad case of pregnancy with an inappropriate mate, or to come into contact with a dangerous, mentally damaged individual. I knew a bi woman (a friend of my housemate at the time) who got a kick out of one night stands with random lesbians she picked up at clubs. She got a kick out of being scratched or bitten to the point of drawing blood, and never told the women she approached that she had herpes.

The thing with you all or nothing 'God's Law' types is that you're convinced that it's impossible to come to logical conclusions or make empathic decisions without being beaten half to death with a Bible. I don't need a Bible to tell me that racking up sexual partners in the double or triple digits is risky behaviour. All I have to do is use my brain. Toddlers have an instinctual sense of what's fair by age two. It's inbuilt, and becomes more sophisticated as the child ages. Religion then comes along and fucks everything up, and children lose their natural instincts and surrender to dogma and indoctrination.

I've lived in both and much prefer suburban life. Everyone pretty much keeps to themselves and if you need anything, you don't have to drive an hour to get it. There are benefits to living out in rural areas (nature, bigger yards, etc), though. To each their own.

Yep, sex is fun and feels amazing. No idea why people wouldn't want to be having it (not referring to cheating on a partner, that is a horrible thing to do).

Not what I said, but go off. "Enjoy sex" does not imply "Have fifty bazillion partners and rack up the STD count." There are a great many strategies you can use to mitigate risk without avoiding fornication. Don't lecture me about logic when you come in with absurd implications like this.

The thing with you all or nothing 'God's Law' types is that you're convinced that it's impossible to come to logical conclusions..
When you start demonstrating a capacity for logic, then we can have a discussion about it. Dr. Gary North demonstrated at length (his life's work) that either you accept God's Law as guidance, or the academic field of economics (which was his focus) falls into gross inconsistency. (TL;DR: the subjective versus objective value dichotomy in econ cannot be resolved without appeal outside of the humanist bubble)

Thanks for the response. Glad to see someone understands what I was writing. Given your perspective, and given that other people have trouble grasping what you do, what's your stance on STDs?

Be safe. Either use condoms or have sex with someone with STD test results since their previous sexual partner

Probably more of a personal gripe but I find how autism is handled in North America to be absolutely horrific, especially for children.
Mental healthcare in the US is terrible in general, from doing absolutely nothing to throwing pills around to locking up the afflicted for an unspecified amount of time.
It discourages looking for help and breeds online self-diagnoses with cultish communities taking advantage of vulnerable persons. That and the copious amounts of legal issues involved if you do go through proper channels.

On the other hand, if we did somehow master the mind we would be easily reprogrammable and I don't think we want that.

The way many people see today's science as something infallible and accept any research results as facts. Especially in medicine field, people will take any medication without much thought, they rarely read side effects or what the medicine is made of. Psychiatrists are big offenders here, they prescribe highly addictive and dangerous pills to young and/or uninformed people who have no idea what they're getting themselves into, they usually don't get any warnings, only promises that it will help them.

I'm in the science field myself so I'm not a science denier, but people should be a lot more cautious and think critically, and not trust everything just because it's branded as science, because today's science is not perfect. Many scientific methods were horrific in the past, and decades from now, today's practices may be seen in the same light.

Slightly related to this - IQ tests being widely accepted as an accurate tool of measuring intelligence. When anyone speaks against them, someone is bound to show up and tell them they got a low score and are bitter. In reality it's just an exam like any other, a person can practice progressive matrices just like they would practice for a math exam, and improve their score.

I used to work with a guy who was in MENSA and it made it his entire identity. I never wanted to beat up a dork so badly in my entire life...

He thinks all kids are whores
And if you call him out on it
He puts you on ignore 🎶

I live near a pub and every weekend for like a year I have to hear 'WAP' playing super loud at 1am with that blacktina prostitute singing about her gross pussy. The funniest thing is hearing hundreds of people singing along, the woman screaming in a frenzy and the defeated men forced to play along. I miss the days when it would have been 'pop that pussy', by the 2 Live Crew or the famous 90's r&b song 'give up that hole now.' I don't recognise this country.

The number of people with huge shitty tattoos. It's one thing to get something small on your ankle or back but the number of not-felons walking around with full sleeves is out of fucking control. These niggers will be completely different people in three years' time yet they think permanently inking their flesh is a good idea. And yes, people will judge you for them, say what you will about boomers they at least recognize a walking pile of human wreckage when they see one. If 2018 me got a tattoo I'd literally be cutting it out with a knife.

One I never see mentioned on this site is little kids being exposed to shitty pop/nigger music on a constant basis. Over the past 15/20 years the public attitude on this changed completely, there used to be a conscious effort to shield kids from music that is overtly sexual or adult but now you have 4 year olds being taught dances to Cardi B or Lady Gaga songs like it's nothing weird at all, and a general attitude of little kids having a "right" to be regularly listening to top 40 music instead of anything appropriate for their age range.
I'm almost convinced the only reason top 40 music as we know it occupies that place is because DJs in nightclubs are the only people who actually buy music regularly, and because of global homogenisation almost every club plays the same shit.
Cars. Huge lumps of metal hurtling each and every way, with no one giving a second thought to how fucking dangerous they are. I mean obviously modern day society could not exist without them but they are still terrifying to think about if you examine them critically.
The same goes for planes but less so because they are highly engineered against going wrong and they are not really an everyday usage item.
Tbf car safety has been a priority, we just don't often notice it because nobody pays attention to what goes on in the corporate/design world unless it's their job, or their investment. Like most endeavours of this kind it's often counterproductive, ever noticed how modern cars are so much bigger than they were in the 80s? It's because of crumple zones so when you do crash with them you'll have a better chance of survival, but it also means you're more likely to crash because the roads are overcrowded because every car has gotten bigger.

Maybe not quite “horrifying” but the general aversion to commitment these days. It’s basically socially acceptable at this point for zoomers to be 20-30 minutes late for everything. Flaking and just not showing up with zero explanation is more common than ever and ghosting people you’re dating is considered by a good portion of the population to be perfectly fine behavior.
And if you're a zoomer and decide to be on time for once, the other person will be late so it's pointless. Might be in the same vein as club culture, only an idiot shows up at the club event at the advertised time, everything happens an hour late.

One other thing that I realize horrifies me, and it really does when I think about it, is how people don't want to really fix our sociopolitical problems. Every solution is a hodgepodge of scapegoats and band-aids.

I'll share one quick expedient example of what I mean. Take how both the left and right blame video games (scapegoat) as a source of societal ills for different reasons. The left accuses them of encouraging sexism. The right accuses them of encouraging violence. What makes it worse is they both think that just banning or censoring video games (band-aids) is going to make these problems go away. Naturally, doing this never works. There are myriads of other real-life problems that either barely acknowledged or ignored altogether.

Why do these activists and their allies do this shit? There are a variety of reasons: narcissism, corruption, and stupidity among others. It would be too easy, too obvious, to fix the real reasons for sexism and violence existing, but then that wouldn't give any activists, politicians, and celebrities any validation or influence if they actually fixed the problems! Then again, since most people are too busy consuming, fighting, and ignoring the world around them anyway, they can keep the vicious cycle going and no one cares.

It horrifies me because sometimes it feels like when you actually want to do good in the world, your efforts are shot down or even downright meaningless because "the people" and the assholes who wrangle them don't care one way or another either.
To be fair this kind of shit exists because a real solution wouldn't be easy and may even be downright impossible. Otherwise someone actually would solve the problem, and the attention whores would have to pretend to solve something else. Perhaps it's a blessing in disguise that attempts to deal with these things get derailed at so early a juncture, since whatever measures put in place to correct human nature by a truly determined group with the necessary powers would be quite dystopian in themselves.

The fact that America doesn't have a nation wide federal level law to make you required to speak English. It's just better for business and better for everyone. Some of the southern states have Spanish in bigger text than the English. You can fuck off with that. This also lead to that cartoony situation where that runaway spic truck driver didn't use several runaway truck ramps because he couldn't read the signs and they didn't have any in his poor home country so he kept driving and caused a massive accident and deaths. English is not a hard language to learn as long as you stick to simple english and don't talk like a boomer ie completely in phrases and sayings.

I used to work at a shitty corporation as a contractor and during meetings, the Indians and Slavs would form little groups and respond to each other in another language after the manager/leader/whatever in the meeting spoke to one of them in English. Imagine telling them to do some work, them talking in Hindi for 30 seconds, then one of them in the group responding back in extremely broken bad English for the person you were talking to, like they are their fucking representative. You come to this country and take our money after winning the H1B lottery, you fucking speak English. I cannot tell you how many meetings were literally ruined by some Indian piece of shit who would just start screaming "WHAT MEANS ______ ?" Because HR is all leftard dipshits, this falls under the classic "we have to respect their dipshit culture" area. So as an H1B you can just get out of work for 6 months once you know that you can just start screeching like an autist one you hit some word you don't know and it's okay? Meanwhile if there's a business-specific term I don't know and I ask, I get strange looks.

They even did this in e-mails and company chat. They would write out romanized Hindi (basically using roman/english characters to phonetically sound out the words so if you spoke them you would understand the Hindi) in FUCKING E-MAILS AND THERE WOULDN'T BE AN ENGLISH TRANSLATION AT ALL. This is even worse because it's easy to show a record of it.

Job sites go out of their way to remove job postings in AMERICA that have SPEAKING ENGLISH as a requirement. Dennis Prager has a huge thing about idiots that complain that everything isn't in their native language and I used to think he was an autist for it but now I see he is right. You don't have to write a 12th grade level essay you just need to know enough to do your job, but the second you bring this up you will get called racist by NPCs. He is right that it just fucks everything up as quick as possible, because you have to basically go to school for 100 years for every accumulated possible language you have to speak at once.

Shit like this is what started to redpill me on liberalism. They have these high-minded goals but when it comes down to brass tacks who gets stuck with the extra work? That's right, you do! Now get crackin' on that Duolingo, we have more Somalians to dump on your head. What do you mean they should learn English first? Do you even know how xenophobic you sound right now?

My current position is I support whatever you want up until the point it requires me to do extra work on your behalf. No free labor, fucknuts.

How every piece of software and technology actively steals and sells your data. Most people are aware of it at least on some level but no body really goes out of their way to change it. Every time I get a new phone or computer or even a TV now I have to spend like half an hour turning off settings and shit that collects my history and location (I'm fully aware there's probably unchangeable background processes that still collect shit).

Also is it just me but am I the only one that remembers when it was common knowledge NOT to use your real name on the internet. Now everyone put their full name, where they live, where they work, where they went to elementary school, high school, university etc. It's maddening that it's so easy to learn so much about random individuals based on all the private info they willingly put out there.
