Horrifying Things That Are Viewed As Normal

Not to sound like a tree hugger, but The way people give 0 shits about the environment or natural world around them always boggles my mind. People are creaming their pants for daddy musk to send us all to space, when they don't even know what's in their own backyard. Who gives a shit about global warming or even if it's real at this point, we aren't going to have SHIT by the time it happens as long as the Chinese keep wanting fake dick hardening pills and mega millionaires keep wrapping everything in 80 layers of plastic.
We have such an amazing God damn planet and people are happy to destroy it and everything in it so they can have the next generation Funko-phone.

Also littering. My God even if you don't care about the environment, at least care about not having your child run through/play in trash???
The number of times I used to see piles of discarded trash (including glass, metal cans/other sharp shit and contamination like diapers) feet away from where kids were playing at the beach made me feel like I was in a third world shit hole. Have some God damn respect.

Non environment related: but the fact places like Twitter, DeviantArt and reddit allow both minors and porn on the same platform. All it takes is one person forgetting to (or purposely) flip on the "adult" switch and whoops, minors see porn. Or the fact that all minors have to do is flip a switch and they have more porn than they could imagine, on the same website he talks to his friends about Roblox on. I know kids can lie about their age and get into any porno site, but it feels so much more wrong this way.

Sorry a bit of a ramble. Amhigh

It's always weirded me out how when you walk through the grocery store, there are just wall to wall plastic wrapped corpses, many being over processed slurry mixes of not only different animals, but different species.
But, like you, that's not going to stop me from enjoying a good ass steak.

I'm beginning to understand some of your retard takes better now
That's because the conservatives did a bang up job telling us it was Communism to give a damn about environmentalism. "God gave us dominion over the Earth. That means 'here, it's yours, rape it'. " Actual Ann Coulter quote.

How everything is political now and there’s a constant litmus test on what you watch, where you eat, what you read, who you associate with. Step out of line and at best you get the side eye, at worst you’re written off as one of THEM!!!
Yes, and I'm sick of conservatives constantly shoving that litmus test on me...

Anyway, the "work as a virtue in it'self" culture that places like the US, Japan, and South Korea pulled, especially since we're now bound and determined to destroy the line between one's working life and off-work life, Elon Musk.

Well take that up with the people who supposedly "WUV THE SCIENCE" who fully buy into everything "Green" for social credit points who buy that shit.

Can't take the Chinks to task, too much money to be gained for the political class.

You don't expect the Upper Class Suburbanites to clean up after themselves? That is a job for Paublo or Micheal/Shaq/Kobe/Lebron (insert whatever basketballer was popular when he was born) to do.

I can't speak for anyone else, but when you live in a shithole that's roughly the temperature and humidity level of the inside of Satan's rectum at least half the year (with increasingly less shade at the rate developers are chopping down all the trees), it kinda limits your ability to leave the house in daylight.

My longstanding theory about why old people move to the south is because they have poor circulation and can't feel how fucking miserable it is outside.

also dont forget niggers

people don’t go outside and don’t get sunlight.

I keep my windows open, always have, except at night when it’s time to put on my robe. I also walk a lot. Nobody ever sits on porches anymore or puts their blinds up. They sit in dark hovels all day. If they’re fit but don’t run they go to a gym and work out in that dark hovel. They sit in the dark/artificial light at home, get in a car, drive to work, sit in dark/artificial light there, go back home, repeat.
The sun isn't a safe way to get sufficient vitamin D, you will be sun burned before that. And ew, who does wants to look tan, dirty or basically the same as a grilled chicken. Because the skin is literally cooking in the sun.
And do I need to remind that you look more of a nigger when you got "colour"?

I will never not run in the gym, because it is hell running outside regardless of season. I do see plenty of people that run outside, and their skin looks shitty.
The whole fat acceptance thing, idk if its been mentioned in this thread but its not fucking healthy to be 300lbs and die at the age of 30. Also body positivity was intended for burn victims and people missing limbs, not cranky fat women.
Eh, the joke is on them. They are the ones dying like flies at 30, not you. I see it as a good thing to cleanse out the population that aren't suited for life. Them dying at 30 is better than older. It is sparing the government a lot of money when they die that early, and that's probably why they never do anything about it.

Ever notice any workplace or campus form you fill out it asks you for your pronouns as well as has many gender options other than the normal 2?

One thing I’ve noticed in stores is this .the making of eating plant based food, and apparently the normalisation of eating bugs.
think it was the world economic fund that is pushing for this. So my retarded observation is this:
so humans are eating the plants reducing supply to the herbivores.
and humans eating insects, reducing pollination of plants.
WTF happened to the food chain?!

Fuck off the hypocritical world economic forum, I’m not eating bugs

Maybe this isn't horrific, but I certainly think it's scary that most Americans don't even consider that someday the status quo could change or end. They never ponder on anything like the end of the world, collapse of internationalism, or the collapse of the United States. I realize those aren't normal things to think about, but all the same it's off-putting that so many people seem to have this blind faith that nothing will ever change or end. It's compounded with many of the other things discussed in this thread. To these people, the United States will always be this modern pop culture wonderland with a perpetual Burger King mentality.

If we really do have to face a genuine cataclysm in our lifetime, then I dread to think of how most Americans will cope with it if coping is possible. I can only begin to imagine stereotypical Karens realizing their tantrums are meaningless in the face of a catastrophe.

I wouldn't say there aren't any positive applications for it, but there's something cosmically horrifying about meme culture. I'm sure y'all have caught a whiff of something very strange about people who just accept blindly whatever is in front of them because the community reaction is positive or because they already have confirmation bias on the subject. Memes can be cool too, they definitely seem to bring people closer together, like books or other forms of art, just accepting the fact that other people can have similar or same reactions than you is somewhat cathartic, makes you feel like you're a part of something bigger than yourself. Just always have to remember the cardinal principal of free will.

LOL WTF?

Any food you make takes away from animals since land is fixed in supply, but almost all the plants we eat are farmed and then bugs they sell are ranched too (they feed them plants), they don’t go out and pick bugs off the ground until they have a full bag.

Going a little deeper, I don’t think it’s hypocritical but it is sometimes counterproductive. It is true that every step up the food chain you go you need way more calories of inputs to get a calorie of human (because the animal lives on eating plants we could eat). So in general meat is inefficient.

But where they get it wrong is that animals can often be fed on calories we can’t eat (grass), and some large parts of the world aren’t good for anything but grass, so raising meat there is the most efficient land use instead of wasting money irrigating the land.

One thing I will always find horrifying, among all the other things we've discussed in this thread, is how American society loves service. As in Americans love being served. They think they're entitled to service. Because they expect it, and they're so used to getting it more or less, they don't even appreciate it. Perhaps the only exception is military service. Americans generally seem to love it, though so few are willing to do it. Even then, their love of the military is shallow and misguided at best. That's another topic for another time. On the same note, Americans love acts of kindness and nice people, but only as long as they're not the ones who are obligated to be kind. In other words, they love being the recipients of kindness much like they love being served. Fake gratitude often follows this demand for service, not because the recipients genuinely appreciate it, but because they know pretending to care will hopefully get them more service.

I know this from years of doing customer and public service. I know there are people who do care, who do appreciate kindness and service, and they also recipocate. However, that's not the norm. Most people really only care about what others can do for them. Nothing is ever enough either. Many of these same people would gladly throw their own family, friends, and neighbors under the bus if it means they can get what they want. One of the most evil ideas that has encouraged this is the phrase, "The customer is always right." Additionally, most people seem to have a thin grasp on what it means to "do your part." They think doing this bare minimum justifies their selfish, despicable behavior. I think it's fair to say they don't have any values, or at least any meaningful or respectable ones. They certainly don't value their relationships, their communities, or even their own lives. Everything, everyone is expendable and only matters as far as obtaining what you want goes.

What would it take to change this? It's sad to see this is what passes as the culture of the United States.

You missed all my powerleveling about having an NPD mom?

Tbh there's pretty much no education or awareness about NPD parents and the warning signs of them for school and social workers and shit. At least when I was a kid, they generally didn't seem aware that psychological abuse is abuse. Abused kids are failed at every level by the system and it needs to massively overhauled.
Also had an NPD mother. Things will never change, as these people are perfectly adept at acting normal in public situations. It's literally one of those 'well, I'm fucked' if you happen to have a parent like that.
