No, not at all, the reason why people hated Skylar was because she was an emasculating, dominating bitch who basically prevented Walter from having any kind of life whatsoever (not just the wacky meth adventures) and didn't show him any affection whatsoever.

That's also how she was portrayed, dicking around her ebay shop while giving him a handjob for his birthday, like he's getting a treat because he's been a good boy.

They tried to nuance her afterwards, but they made her so unlikeable at first that they just could never correct course. Plus they still did the bullshit with Ted, being ok with crime and then not being, etc...

She was a great actress, as far as playing unlikeable characters. Same thing with Mary.

Hector Salamanca was an evil piece of shit. He and Lalo are the only major characters in this universe I would define as such. Weird how language like that is reserved for a female character who wasn't perfect.

Right, but you don't hear anyone focusing on his piece of evil shittiness. It's reserved for people like Skyler. The level of vitriol for that character has always been outsized, irrational, and sometimes disturbing. There are various states of moral decay, and there are all sorts of flaws you can justifiably assign to Skyler and valid criticisms of her actions and behavior, but evil? Nah. That's actual crazy talk, especially when you have a legitimately evil character to contrast and compare.

Hector is evil but he also endures the most miserable and degrading existence imaginable on the shows for years and years. A husk of a man kept alive solely by hate. Unlike really most of the characters his measure of suffering was immense.

Anyone else feel like a somewhat depressing but better ending would have been to end it with the time jump to him in bed with a prostitute, alone and broken?
Could have even had it end with him tied up in the back of the RV, making the story feel semi-complete, bringing it full circle. There wouldn't be a resolution to the Gene timeline but would that even have been such a loss?
I really don't care what happens to Gene. The story seems like an afterthought now considering how close it is to the resolution to Breaking Bad and El Camino.

Better Call Saul is one of the most pitiful and hopeless TV shows I ever watched. This is why I don't watch them anymore. I won't watch anything again after being led down the garden path by this pathetic shit.

Because what more is there to say he's a monster with zero redeemable features. There's literally nothing to discuss except making ding-ding memes.

Vince Gillian does not do Sopranos or Shield style endings. Stuff has to be direct and spelled out. Hence why the fans are speculating and guessing on very concrete endings like Jimmy getting a specific jail sentence. Or Jimmy committing suicide like Chuck and them showing it and not implying it. The BB writers obviously did not like how they left Jesse's ending ambiguous, though optimistic, so they gave him one final moment in the sun to show and confirm his fate to the audience so that there was no misunderstanding. Jesse is battle scarred, but free.

Gene will not be getting his own movie. So the last episode is it for him. And with an hour left there is not a lot of room for him to make some major adjustment again like disappear to another state with a new name. Suicide is a major theme for BCS. Chuck, Nacho, and Howard being framed as one. But Walt's last stand was almost framed like a heroic suicide. They even game him a Christ wound in his side just to drive home the message. I cannot see them doing that again.

Jimmy will get caught because he is an idiot for the entire Gene timeline. Not just this season. He is working in public during the daytime as a manager two weeks after being on the FBI's most wanted list. And telling people his name was Saul Goodman no more than six weeks from the time of Walt having his shootout and Jimmy's face being all over the news. He is either written as being an idiot. Or written as him wanting to be caught but being too cowardly to turn himself in so he puts himself in positions where he will be caught. But his reaction or Marion puts him more in the idiot camp unfortunately.

We have no idea what really happens to Gene and his story could end anywhere. From suicide. Capture. Running away with Kim. Murder-suicide with Kim. Life in jail. Few years in jail. Witness protection. Disappearing again. Kim being his lawyer. Jimmy defending himself as Saul. I would not call the last episode afterthoughts unless it ends with no new resolution.

Find it funny some of the comments about Kim's confession, she still lies/covers that she's been in touch with Jimmy when speaking to Howard's ex and pretty much explains how they've gotten away with it and there's no actual consequences for her to achieve her redemption.

None of the main characters in either BB or BCS are "good", all of them are willing to compromise themselves in the aim to get their perceived deserved outcomes, just a case of comparing those that went further than the others as to who is worse.

My reaction to Gene in the last episode: bruh

When they've finally started showing Gene, it was insufferable seeing him doing retarded things, especially that last episode. He could've left and cancerman wouldn't have seen him but nope, he messed around and fucked up, and not to mention, calling Kim, like what on earth is he doing? I just don't understand, was he stupid, overconfident or wanted the rush of adrenaline once more of being chased? It just felt out of character because Saul isn't like that at all, he isn't this clumsy and stupid, like come now he literally managed to steal a bunch of shit in a Mall last 2 episodes ago (I think). He even told his goons to not mess up that mall plan, and what does he do in cancerman's house? Goof around, which caused a mess.

Regardless, I still think the show is great and can't wait for the last episode. I'm very curious as to what Saul's fate is gonna be, and hope Vince and Peter doesn't disappoint.
