So a bit over $200 a night after tax. Earliest move-in date somewhere would be September 1, so about $3500. Bought a new laptop even though she has a whole fancy gaming computer already, and guaranteed it's some fancy gaming laptop, so probably $1500 for that. 5 grand already spent, not considering both of them eating takeout food for every meal now since there's no kitchen. My roommate's grandma who lived alone and had dementia managed to lose $3,500~ after getting a scam call. The caller claimed to be her grandson and said he needed the $$$ to be bailed out of jail for a charge he was innocent of. She went along with this as her cognitive abilities had all but evaporated and considering she was long retired and on disability, this caused her financial problems. What Lucas is doing is far different of course but it also reminds me of this story a bit, it's not just unique to this latest saga either.
He's taking advantage of people who are retarded, but these people are also freaks who will continue to send him more and more money. Much of that is their parents money the same way 8 year olds rack up massive Roblox bills on Dad's credit card unknowingly, I imagine. The scam caller didn't need to know her grandchildren's names or do any research at all ahead of time because her dementia was just that bad and with a phishing approach like that you're bound to get a few people totally disconnected from reality. Lucas can throw out the most transparent lies that make zero sense to keep up appearances and the money train rolling all while confident (in his mind at least) he's effectively shielded from consequences given he's a total troon freak. And one in Canada at that.
These stories are very different of course but the point is he's completely comfortable in his position making bread off these retards. It was easy and natural to feel sympathy for my buddy's grandma though. Of course Lucas deserves none but neither do his paypigs.
