Vince Gilligan wasn't making the show singlehandedly, the finale was written and directed by Peter Gould (who's been the showrunner for the past three or four seasons). It's gonna be an "Okay, Vince, I guess?" for me.
Yeah, it's s just the dumb "Bravo Vince" memeVince Gilligan wasn't making the show singlehandedly, the finale was written and directed by Peter Gould (who's been the showrunner for the past three or four seasons).
Probably B. My thoughts are the reason he took 86 years over 7 was because even if he did get out of jail what would even happen? He would be alone again without kim or any of his old friends/crew, and seeing as Jimmy always goes back to slipping he would have just ended up in the same shit show as he did this time. So to make sure Saul "died" and couldn't do shit he puts himself away for a long time.what do you guys think:
A. Saul lives his whole life and dies behind bars.
B. He gets out “early” for good behavior. Early as in Old Man Saul.
Tbf that does make sense. A big conflict of the Gene story was Jimmy’s identity crisis. And him having himself as an antagonist has been the conflict since Chuck died. So it all does make senseProbably B. My thoughts are the reason he took 86 years over 7 was because even if he did get out of jail what would even happen? He would be alone again without kim or any of his old friends/crew, and seeing as Jimmy always goes back to slipping he would have just ended up in the same shit show as he did this time. Thinking about it like that is what made the ending better for me. Is it stupid? Kinda, but it still made it better for me in the end.
I agree 100 percent with this. These two shows are great journeys but since they dont take risk with their endings the destination can feel unspecial. The whole sixth season was like this. I was thinking “Nacho and Lalo will probably die” because thats what was signposted and I enjoyed when it happened, they were great scenes but they couldve thrown a curveball and took a risk that either ruined the show or took it to the next level. Nothing risked nothing gainedI think the problem with the ending it's that is simply too...bland for something as big of a franchise as Breaking Bad. It's exactly what everyone was in denial (me included) of what was going to happen: Jimmy takes the shot and goes to jail. The character scenes with Mike, Walt, and Chuck are not bad, despite being as subtle as a brick to the head, but they feel...unnecessary. Jimmy's redemption feels logical but at the same time, it feels too bland and safe. That's the problem with the whole ending: it's clunky and unbalanced. Even if the characters are compelling and interesting, the story beats are boring and predictable, making the whole experience a bit sour. Ironically, Gilligan and Gould's undoing was what made them so good in the first place: the characters guiding the story instead of the other way around. This is what happens when you take this philosophy too far: the characters are good but the story is shit.
It wasn't that much of a disaster either. The writing wasn't egregiously bad, there are no major plot holes, and there aren't any questionable writing decisions. But at the same time, you don't feel fulfilled. It's gonna be an "Okay, Vince, I guess?" for me.
True. He’s a legit celebrity in prison and surrounded by adoring fans of his who would send anyone who messes with him to Belize in an instant. If anything it’s more of a happy ending then slaving away at Cinnabon.Probably B. My thoughts are the reason he took 86 years over 7 was because even if he did get out of jail what would even happen? Unironically there were like 2 endings this season that you could choose if you hate the ending. Him becoming Saul in episode 9, him dropping the scams after Nippy and keep working at Cinnebon forever, or the final ending. Which means even the biggest ending contrarians can still watch the show if they want. Bravo, Vince. For me the ending of the show was episode 9,
Jesse was always a junkie piece of shit drug dealer who wrecked an immeasurable amount of lives and would have been more than happy to keep wrecking them if Daddy Walt had shown him a bit more love.Jesse was always a good guy
Walt is implied to be an antisemite in that he resents his Jewish partners, named himself after the guy who ran Hitler's nuclear program, then teams up with the Trailer Trash Nazis without a thought. In that scene, he didn't like Gretchen's family having higher status than him, so he got pissed off and left in a huff.Gretchen: You left me. Newport, 4th of July weekend. You and my father and my brothers, and I go up to our room, and you're packing your bags, barely talking. What? Did I dream all that?
It's debatable if Kim can be called a "good" person, but calling her "straight evil" does seem to be your own bias. It's not her fault a psychopath showed up at her home and shot Howard in the head.It may be my own retarded bias at work, but I'm the only one that feels that Peter and Vince try to present Kim as a better person than she actually is? They try to present her simply as someone who went too far when she fucking ruined Howard's life and got him killed: just straight evil.
You'd have a point if one of the major complaints this season hadn't been how much fucking filler there was. Many TV series have a hard time squeezing everything they want to do on their last episodes (hell, even Mad Men), and BCS was no exception.
No, you don't get it, when he was Gene and walking free on the outside, really he was in an INNER prison. Now he might be physically in a real prison, but he has INNER freedom.Ah yes. The horrible life he had as a manager of a successful business. Living in freedom. Being able to enjoy a private home and eat nice food, watch movies, go to sporting events. As opposed to the incredible freedoms of an ADX supermax prison? Are you kidding me? He is in the worst possible prison. Literally the most violent Islamic terrorists and drug cartel leaders like El Chapo are in the same prison. That prison is known for even the most hardened criminals killing themselves out of despair.
Never watched it, never will.If they do anything else I'll just pretend it doesn't exist, like that retarded Sopranos movie.
Are you kidding? He killed Mike for committing the most grievous sin of all: not sucking Walt's dick good enough. He treated him in a cavalier way one too many times. That's the worst thing you can do to Walt. And in the end, he murdered Mike for literally no rational reason at all
It was still a cold-blooded murder where he had actually talked with the guy face to face and he had to do it in person with his own hands, not with some bullshit contraption. He still had qualms at that point because he had never done it before. He also had to know it was him or his family.Krazy-8 was either him or his family.
Not Walter White levels of evil of doing reckless shit for the dopamine rush for sure, but pretty evil regardless considering she ruined an innocent person's life just because she thought it was fun. It's hard to be sympathetic to a person who does that for the lulz. It's also her fault considering that she knew that said psychopath was alive and could arrive at their home at any minute. Even the worse shit that Jesse has done was because he had no other option and he was too much into deep shit to go back. It's debatable if Kim can be called a "good" person, but calling her "straight evil" does seem to be your own bias. It's not her fault a psychopath showed up at her home and shot Howard in the head.
