A lot of YouTubers share this type of experience (i.e. film school dropout, maybe one retail job) which is an obvious recipe for disaster for when it's 10 years later and the fame has dried up and they're now in their 30s, many such cases.
It's not just a matter of target demographic, but content. You're not going to get high-CPM ads matched against stupid political vlogs. If you want high-CPM ads you have to make content that complements the ads so the people watching are those more inclined to either make a purchase immediately or to remember the ad when they are ready to make a purchase. Again, this is why most of these tards are hocking merch and their patreon -- because the ad revenue for their shitty vlogs is pitiful.
