Tarsiers -- they remind me less of Anime girls than of
Norns, characters from a 90s AI simulation/game.
SJWs always use the same buzzwords because they are extremely uncreative.
People treating fictional or imaginary entities like they were real is not something new, though. If you take a bit of an "euphoric" stance, religion can be seen to sort of work in that way. Otherwise, there is a long tradition of people falling in love with fictional characters from mythology, novels, plays, art, etc.
Think Pygmalion. Psychologists actually have shown that nearly all humans think of another (possibly fictional) human while masturbating. Reports about people rolling a blanket Dakimakura-like into a partner-effigy and kissing their pillows while masturbating go back to the heydays of psychoanalysis.
What probably IS new is the extremes to which some take this. When people claim they live in a long-term committed relationship with Hatsune Miku and have a daughter with her, then... erm... well... then things get a bit... strange.
Anyway, like I already said, I think IF they claim that an Anime girl is their TRUE and HONEST spouse, then they should at the very least treat her better than many of them do. You do not invite your spouse to a "romantic" dinner consisting of fast food in a basement. At least cook something by yourself and set up some flowers and candles and stuff. Most of all, do not treat her like... the guy who shouted at his waifu on her birthday to leave the video game console alone and go get her cake and presents and gave her condoms. I cannot find this video (because I don't have enough endurance to search for it systematically), but I found this which is still rather cringey:
