I like this idea that old DSP was just a shtick. That means at any point, he could have made a video, clarifying that he was playing a character, apologizing if he went overboard with it, and say that he would tone it down/stop being a character.

Yup all the detractor youtube channels, twitter accounts, and subreddits going down is because all SuperKaren does all day is fill out tons upon tons of DMCA copyright strike forms with false information claiming to be phil. You are right that it is similar, but the difference is Phil is doing it out of spite and pettiness. Most detractors did it to show that Phil is a unredeemable piece of shit who scams his audience out of money, showing he is a hypocrite, and overall is a disgusting human with no morals.
