FFXIV GoW releasing soon?
Y'shtola. Morally ambiguous.
Y'shtola, one of the main members of the primary protagonist group, the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. Morally ambiguous.
Y'shtola, a character who spends much of her time researching and fighting Ascians and Primals; a grave threat to Eorzea and potentially existence. Morally ambiguous.
Y'shtola, a character who, out of respect and care for her allies and compatriots, is distressingly willing to risk her own sight (yeah the white eyes starting in Heavensward? She blinded herself through a scary teleportation spell, spoiler warning) and life to protect them. Morally ambiguous.

Lily Orchard does not understand the word "ambiguous". This binch be Chaotic Good at *most* morally dubious; but she's not ambiguous.

Also while FFXIV is occasionally accused of misogyny, it has more to do with female characters seemingly dying for little purpose (except that's also kind of wrong because said characters tend to have way more weight behind their actions and demises and aren't just discarded); but Y'shtola rarely finds herself being the target of such complaints. Lily's fucking stupid.

edit: FOR FUCK'S SAKE WITH THE EXCEPTION OF ISHGARD, NEARLY ALL OF THE LEADERS IN THE EORZEAN ALLIANCE ARE WOMEN (Nanamo Ul Namo, Kan E-Senna, and Merwylb to be exact; and the leaders of the starting areas at that; Aymeric and sort of Hien (starting in Stormblood when Doma allies with the Eorzean Alliance) are the only male leaders; and if you want to get technical, Lyse and Raubahn both kind of have an equal role with Ala Mhigo) AND NEARLY EVERY MAJOR LEADER OF THE SCIONS HAVE BEEN FEMALE TO AN EXTENT (Minfilia was the first, but after her, Y'shtola is often seen as the main voice of reason; with mission control often handled by Krile or Tataru (the latter of which is basically the one solely responsible for the Scions' finances, their fashion and finding people) with the only arguable replacement leader being a certain male Miqo'te but even that's arguable after certain events).

My game theory is she started in Lominsa playing as a tank (I forget the class, warrior/axe user I think?) and when she was introduced to the scions she latched onto Y'shtola because she's the scion from Limsa. Therefore Y'shtola has the be the 'morally ambiguous' female character she can project onto, even if she isn't one in reality.

I mean honestly? How far do we think Lily really made it into the story? Past the first expansion? She said she quit the first time at the tutorial.

Lily, do you even know when it's a joke complaint or a real complaint? I'll tell you when it's a joke complaint. When you get called out for it.

Maybe covering the MMO everyone left Warcraft for will be the shot in the arm her channel needs to come back from the dead.

I don't believe for a single second that Liliana read the actual comics. I'll believe the stalker story and the concussion before that. She probably read some fan wiki at most.

She made 10 dollars. This is the first donation in months. Mikay's permanent resident card is as good as bought.

She just had to put her nose into the Keffal Drama.
Lily has the perfect way of dealing with stalkers, just beat them up on your doorstep. The Canadian cops can't arrest you when you do that.

But I get it not everyone can be strong and trained in knife combat like Lily is:

Yeah, Keffals invoking even Donald Trump and dead lolcows was so funny.
Lily is a walking corpse at this point. I don't think this gonna be more interesting than the "kf is evil hehexd" and shit.
And it's impossible to she travelling to San Francisco, 'cus Keffals shouted a manifestation in front of Cloudfare... you know.
Just... pretend to Lily just having a generic stroke and focuses on the FF14 shit 'cus... gonna be very interesting boys and gerls.

I already whinged about her claims about the early level questing; but now I know what she’s claiming about weight… and that’s still wrong. Certainly while weapon attacks are more drawn out, that’s because the weight behind the weapon requires more of a windup. You’re also allowed and able to turn particle effects off in FFXIV; but there’s barely any impact to WoW weapons which not only lack variety in attack animations but also lack a sign anything happened. If she’s gonna complain about a lack of weight, Kingdom Hearts is also a questionable comparison because A.) it’s a solo game with higher graphical standards, and B.) the weapons do tend to be floatier in games past KH2; but even then KH2 on rely heavily on drawn out, particle effect based attacks; especially when you start talking combo finishers like Explosion, Ripple Drive, Magnet Spiral and others.

“This is a square enix game, disrespect to female characters is a given” If you’re talking Nomura directed games, yes. But Final Fantasy generally has a history of actually having strong and respected female characters; even IN Nomura directed games. From Final Fantasy IV’s Rosa and Rydia, V’s Lenna, Faris and Krile, VI’s Terra, Celes and Relm, to VII’s Aerith and Tifa, IX’s Garnet, Beatrix, Eiko and Freya, X’s Yuna and eventually how many of the most important characters in XIV are women. Also XIII has Lightning and Serah as the main driving forces of that trilogy.

Instances still vary; between multiperson instances in the duty finder and story ones but it don’t matter.

Yes the first story fight is dull because you’re low level and don’t have your tools; and I just realized: is Lily not doing her class quests? You’re supposed to get some armor and such from those quests. Hard to tell her level because of how small the hud text is.

I have a seriously baaaaaaad feeling about this video.

dont you get it, shes joking, its all jokes, nothing she says matters, nothing is serious at all

Everything she says is a joke and not that serious, until she isn't getting she attention she wants, then out come the accusations of "white favoritism" and such.
Everything she says is important and should be taken seriously, until she gets called out for being stupid and insensitive, then it's a joke lol why are you getting so defensive.

Schrödinger's Douchebag: Somebody who says something that is simultaneously serious and a joke, then depending on the reactions of the people around them, it becomes one or the other
(Note: I did not invent this term)

Magneto is the villain because he's a mass murderer. One of his big moments in comic history is reversing Earth's magnetic poles following Scarlet Witch's death. This caused a series of natural disasters all around the world killing millions.
I think Lily missed the memo that the best villains are usually ones you can sympathize with. We sympathize with Magneto being a holocaust survivor but we don't sympathize with his actions as Magneto. That's what makes his character interesting.

I can't believe someone has to explain this.

I can't believe someone has to explain this.

Not to mention the often-forgotten condemnation that him being a holocaust survivor brings about. The fact that someone who already experienced a mass genocide and unrighteous persecution of a specific type of people decided the best thing to do to bring about true justice was to claim superiority over his fellow man and posing as a savior to a master-race of individuals that should be above modern society is demonstrating why we don't like him. Why he's wrong in spite of his backstory.

Magneto is sympathetic but it's also important to note that he's a massive hypocrite. The X-Men are the good guys because they're constantly teaching mutants the virtues that prevent harm to people in general, whereas Magneto takes any violent psychopath mutant under his wing and allows them whatever rampage they so desire so long as they fall in line when he points the finger. It's Magneto's reckless abuse of powerful individuals that only furthers the divide between mutant and non-mutants, which is constantly pointed out. Despite his sympathetic nature, Magneto is patently making things worse.

This is the kind of thing Marvel excelled at with it's villains compared to DC: While on average the heroes aren't in the same physical or universal perils that characters like Superman or Green Lantern have to handle, the villains they combat are a constant plague to the society each of them live in and have a responsibility to fix beyond just "stopping the bad guy."

Spider-Man's villains demonstrate why a person should be personally accountable for their actions.
Reed Richard's villains are always pushing the boundaries of human interpretation and demand the serious consideration these concepts require.
Iron-Man's villains are constantly abusing technology and weapons and ego and these great dangers need powers to keep them in check.

Etcetera. The X-Men being freedom fighters fighting an extremist section of freedom fighters is just the surface level analysis of what they do. The X-Men understand that it's their responsibility to demonstrate the great good mutants can present by keeping other mutants in-line and preventing the abuse of disastrous powers. It's not this goody-two-shoes obligatory confrontation that Jerry wants to paint as woefully and accidentally incompetent: Someone like Wolverine, despite being exactly the kind of person you'd assume would work for Magneto explicitly works for the X-Men because he sees the bigger picture. He's lived long enough to SEE the bigger picture despite his attitude and abrasiveness.

"Why is this guy the villain?"

I don't know, something to do with the constant attempts at mass genocide and racism to the point that even Red Skull is surprised Magneto isn't a fellow Nazi. You know, since the point of Magneto and the Brotherhood of Mutants for that era of comics was that he's a hypocrite who only hurts the cause he's supposedly fighting for by encouraging people's worst tendencies, becoming worse than the very people who hurt him.

I'm assuming this is for her 'People who suffer trauma aren't at risk of imitating the actions of the source of their trauma and there's no such thing as extremists!'
