Saints Row thread

Is it also supposed to be badly delivered? Seriously all of the VA work sounds unnatural and off, like they brought their friends in to do it.
They're begging for paychecks, that is why. Being a VA also requires talent, and these VA's are talented for sure, but they shouldn't belong in this game, especially when they're going to make stupid ass excuses like this.

Now that I have finished Saints Row 2 after I managed to get it to run decently I must say, I've missed out on a lot of good stuff by never playing it and only playing SRTT and SRIV before. The more serious tone is definitely much better than the overly humorous tone of the third and fourth installment, especially with how the Boss handled Shoko and Maero, that was some fantastic stuff, 10/10.

In terms of gameplay, I do like that you can layer clothing and how you could customize more than just the color. It's nice that every activity has a dedicated into cutscene, something that was missing in later installments, probably due to lower budget. But overall it was pretty fun, albeit frustrating at times. It's a damn shame the PC port is this broken, though I've managed to get a crash only twice or three times during the entire playthrough and not once did my save corrupt. Also worth mentioning, I was playing with the Gentlemen of the Row mod, for the sake of fixing issues, even though the GotR mod adds and changes a lot of stuff in the game itself.

How did you get it to run well? I'm considering playing it but the claims of it being a broken mess are holding me back.

Followed tips from here: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Saints_Row_2
DXVK, GotR, and also a framecap at 55fps to keep cutscenes normal, plus I had to use a patched .exe from here to keep the game from crashing with DXVK when the memory usage hits 1GB, which happens very quickly after loading the game.

Check out the replies for stuff like “umm, have you PLAYED a Saint’s Row game?” and “it’s SUPPOSED to be bad, that’s the joke!” and so on.
This makes Saints Row 3&4’s writing look less juvenile by comparison. Saints Row 2 had swearing yes, but it was never done just because teehee swearing is funny, even Saints Row 1 wasnt like that. You want swearing for the sake of maturity? True Crime NY
Also also heres ACG’s review. Its boring, its shit, its lame but most importantly: its buggy. Gamers are stereotyped as being neckbeards dissatisfied with everything and constantly having a bone to pick with devs, just ask any self professed game designer on twitter or any consumerist wokie redditor. However, gamers have a lot of patience for your stupid politics and even the game itself being bad if the game is at least polished. Look at Dishonored 2, they could call the first sexist all they wanted and this new game better but if the game doesnt function they cant defend that. This new game being buggy might mean this will finally be the third flop that kills Volition. Huzzah!

I hate to be fair to this game but SR2 did the same thing. Cutscene for completing the last Ronin mission has The Boss tell Akuji Sr. that his son shouldn't have fucked with their friends even though The Saints' started the war with Ronin, I never liked that line.
The thing is thats at least emotional payoff to the end of a storyline. The boss is a sociopath for most of the game so him or her saying that was like cool. If the first thing you hear this character say is “pweeze no hurty my fwiendies” it gives you an immediate negative impression of the character

This is incredibly awful. I haven't paid attention to this game since it's disastrous reveal at E3 but I didn't think it could get this bad.

THESE are threatening gangsters.

A San Francisco leather club doing cyberpunk Mad Max roleplay and a white female games journalist/"nerd culture writer"? I would run in fucking fear.

The straightest Bay Area resident and his boyfriend, some Urkel lookalike bowtie wearing hipster faggot who would've gotten bullied to death by literally any of GTA San Andreas's cast?

I am shitting myself in fear, this guy is so terrifying.
Its so weird that writers are so out of touch they refuse to write pop journo characters as what they are: worthy of contempt
Here's a larger image in case you want to find out which one's the diversity hires. But it's mostly hambeasts and soyboys.

Gman review
After all the faggots saying how Saints Row was always woke propaganda that was 100% wacky with no drama, all these reviews give me such catharsis.
