Historical/classical philology (and classics in general) is just full of goons and sex weirdos like this. Upper-class foppish public school boys who never got told 'no' and think that sexuality=sensitivity. I actually know a couple myself IRL. The classics sphere (the real one, not ya authros talking about percy jackson on twitter) is actually very insular on account of the high-barrier for entry (you have to be in a pretty privileged position to go into classical academia- knowledge of an ancient language or two is essential and it's generally a very time consuming occupation on account of all the research and the required encyclopedic knowledge of scholarship in the field, which stretches back hundreds of years), and so it's very easy to lose perspective when you're surrounded by other classicists who are often white, upper or middle class, left-leaning, and sexually degenerate in that very specific way that nerds tend to be.Hello Dr. Paul Gazzoli, you look like one of those guys who would try to fuck drunk girls. Despite the insularity there's also a very strong culture of criticism and snarkiness (get five classicists to look at the same three lines of Thucydides and they'll all come out with a different interpretation), and a lot of people crack under the pressure. These kinds of guys often adopt these subversive 'secret identities' to deflect criticism or strengthen themselves against the inevitable criticism/nitpicking which always occurs whenever you publish anything. They are fundamentally thin skinned, the kind of person who, back in the day, would have specialised into something so niche and inconsequential that he could spend his entire career happily picking over it undisturbed, occasionally producing a book which no one but his long suffering students and other academics would read, living a quiet and tranquil life as a nice but rather boring man before dying and having a cupboard at his university dedicated in his name. The internet was the worst possible thing that could happen for this sort of man. Sure they were probably perverts beforehand too, but at least they kept it out of their professional lives. Now you go to see professor so-and-so about borrowing a book or drafting a dissertation knowing that he was tweeting about jacking it to t-girl porn fifteen minutes before the appointment.
They're usually smart but also isolated and weird on account of their very hermit-like existence and having convinced themselves that being a degenerate pervert is somehow enlightened and valid because Plato liked to fuck little boys and some Roman priests used to crossdress. It's a consequence of being over-smart, I think, that allows them to convince themselves that what they're doing is justified and not an obvious and pathetic attempt to seem less like yet another snail-faced, tweed-wearing Latin professor. Seriously, there are so many lolcows in classics and antiquity, often numerous bizarre individuals within one university department. Lucky Jim was practically a documentary.

Piggy is completely in the right. When the medical reasoning for transitioning more or less got demonized the only question that remained was "why are you doing this", science has no answer. Most normal people are not going to run around saying that your pain isn't real because I can't/don't experience it. Speaking from personal experience the no dysphoria needed crowd and enbies were really the reason I and many and apparently many other queerios became largely unsympathetic to trans people it's a fucking fad and aesthetic.
It's interesting to see OP complaining about trans people being forced into sex work since usually the TQ+ movement takes pride in sex work, is that some SWERF rhetoric I see sweaty.

Troonery is a lot like Peter Pan Syndrome. Both involve adult men who struggle to accept adult responsibilities. Some of the symptoms include:
- Chronic unemployment or underemployment. An otherwise capable person may refuse to look for jobs. They may be constantly kicked out of jobs due to absenteeism or misbehavior.
- Not doing one’s fair share at home. A person might get married and have children, but spend most of their days playing video games while their partner works, cleans, and tends to the children.
- Relying on someone else to take care of financial responsibilities. A person with Peter Pan syndrome might rely on others to take care of money issues (without contributing something of value in return such as childcare).
- Failure to launch. A person may remain at home with their parents in spite of opportunities to earn money, get a job, or move out.
- Emotional outbursts when facing stressful situations.
- A tendency to make excuses and blame others when things go wrong.
- Little or no interest in personal growth.
- Expectations of being taken care of.
No wonder troons want puberty blockers so badly. They want an immature body to match their immature minds.

As for the gymnastics sketch, it's funny that in the original, the humor was based on Mark Heap's obvious incompetence being contrasted with the audience treating it like it's a masterful performance. But it accidentally does predict 2022 perfectly, with the almost-entirely-female audience and judges clapping along ecstatically to an embarrassingly mediocre man making a fool of himself.
