Diseased #Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

YBZ had 3 things working for him:
  1. He cared. His decline is because of getting blackpilled with comics and it sounds in his videos. The true successor on this is aspect is Perch, because he does care about comics but without the more colourful cowish parts of Zack. Yet.
  2. He had charisma and relatability. I remember watching him before the milkshake incident and he was speaking truth to power and common sense. He had his 12 rules for Marvel and any person who ever worked a normal job would agree that it all made sense. EVS is similar in that aspect, but his cow moments have so many levels of intrigue and other people it is hard to explain and laugh at. I mean, EVS did not skip going on the JRE podcast because he was appartment-hunting...
  3. He had high level of autistic stupidity. He would be stubborn, slow to understand what is happening, bitch about it, rage, destroy comics in funny ways, make the dark roast and lots of cowish stuff. In that aspect he is like Linkara, only a chad center-right former marine that left a lot of women of colour pregnant instead of a dorky, thinskinned libertarian nerd with girldick fetishes.
It is hard to get a package like this. @FROG comes close due to charisma and narcisism and had a couple years of caring about what he talked about.

From what I understand, Rand was a huge lolcow herself but few people care enough to go through her miff over communists kicking her out of Russia.
As for Kermit the Frog, he clearly knows his litterature but is unable to make a god damned point even when you point a gun at him. Yet, he talks the way blue collar men believe educated people do and agrees with them, so they worship him. His big wins have been him making a reasonable arguement after jerking an equally stupid SJW around with sophistries and endless jargon.
Also, @Captain Manning my sincerest congratulations of biting the bullet and enduring 2 hours of Stan Marsh's sister debate with EVS for our entertainment.
Perch is a retailer who is desperately trying to find a cool kids table to sit at while simultaneously trying to act like an above it all 'insider with friends in sales-poor places. If some of you guys think 'Comicsgate' is a shit-rich LOLcow pasture, spend some time in his comment section with an empty plastic bag and a garden hose. You can cash out a full bag of methane with Gretta Thunberg in 5 min from the sheer volume of flatuence coming off him. It hangs in the air due to the nearly sexual belief of his fanclub who believe, as they do with women they will never know the touch of, that he doesn't actually fart... And they refuse to huff it on principle.

Wesley Snipes is now on Fraga's stream. Did this get silently changed as i recall this being on friday at 2:30 eastern?
As an interview it was pretty bad with Fraga constantly shouting out people in the chat and interjecting $2-5 superchats over Wesley Snipes' answers, which quickly tanked his attempts to a build a repoire with the temperamental hollyweird diva and beloved cultural icon (Snipes comes off as a strange combination of Bruce Lee and Gwyneth Paltrow). On the other hand, we (and Snipes) did get to hear about how Wesley Snipes inspired CiderHype's outlook on life and his personal philosophy, shedding some light on the longstanding mystery that is the uncanny similarity between the two individuals. So y'know you win some, you lose some. While it was clear that Fraga was more than a little starstruck, like when he asked Snipes if he listened to hip hop, ("No, I'm all about listening to Taylor Swift"), his falling back on good livestream practices probably should have taken a backseat to more formal interview etiquette here to be honest.

All that said, Dan Fraga did manage to avoid the unspoken Sword of Damocles hanging over the whole enterprise, which was the possibility of a Comicsgate repeat of the "Zack Snyder incident" and him being forced to fight for his internet movement's honor. Except it would be against Wesley fucking Snipes instead of a mere gayopping mormon superhero blockbuster movie director. And by the metric of that not happening alone the stream was an overwhelming success.

However, this wasn't the only unlikely high profile interview that happened recently.

Robert Willing, personally characterized by @FROG as "Nerdette's credulous simp" last week and currently defending Nerdette against accusations that she's exploiting his crippling autism, managed to land an interview with Frog's (along with most of the CG Kings) former boss and one-time Publisher of DC Comics, Dan DiDio. After Frog was given the ole heave-ho, it wasn't that long before it was Dan's head on the ole chopping block as part of a rumoured internal coup orchestrated by lead Batman writer Scott Snyder. How has Dan DiDio been faring since then?

Not good... Not... good...

Between Willing's... "Corky-esque" verbal affect and Dan Didio's non-working audio (which Willing was I guess too nervous to try and fix and make DiDio intelligible), the interview was almost completely unwatchable for people uninterested in witnessing the absolute state of a former industry leader. JDA though showed up near the end to dab on him and promptly got banned.

The bulk of the stream consisted of Willing's sharing his rose-tinted glasses fan enthusiasm and nostalgia over DiDio's work and tenure on ReBoot, Metal Men, Outsiders, etc, but beyond that there were a few kernels of interesting information. First was in response to a question by Willin about how when Didio did queer sexual raceswaps of established characters like Greg Rucka's Batwoman and the Question, it was organical and natural (100% lie) vs the recent "unnatural forced virtue signal" lesbian Batwoman flop on the CW. DiDio candidly answers that he doesn't watch the televised versions of DC superheroes as he considered them competition, describing his role as Co-Publisher of DC Comics as a (losing) struggle against television to be considered the "source material" for characters like Superman or Batman in the eyes of the viewers. He follows that by adding that when he was in charge, he always stipulated that any proposal for a homo or black version of a character put on his desk "had to have a good story" for him to approve of it (Then of course he was ousted by those applicants and those restrictions were removed).

Finally, there was an unguarded response when Willing forwarded some kind words Aaron Lopresti had for him about being a good employer who at least made sure that long-time loyal artists and creators were able to get enough work to live on even after they were considered to have "aged out". Cryptically and through garbled audio, Didio says something about how it's always been about networking - those oldtimers he looked out for back in his day were simply his friends. They're not friends of whoever is in charge now. Willing expresses even his exasperation at the rate of DC homosexualization of characters, simps a bit for Nerdette (who's in the chat) and relates to DiDio how she's one of his biggest champions in the comic community, and then the stream ends.

To his credit, he immediately acknowledges that that's the stupidest possible question he could have asked.

Also, if Snipes expected Charlie Rose, he would be a fucking idiot. Which I'm sure some people will debate given the fact he felt he didn't have to pay Federal income taxes but, regardless, I'm going to assume he knew this was gonna be a bit more goofy than that.

Pour one out for Jeremy.

Oh yeah, but it was the sort of (endearing) slip up that Dan Fraga wouldn't make under normal circumstances. He's a well spoken motherfucker usually.

I'm just noting that most of Snipes' stories were cut short mid-way by Fraga's interruptions and when they were done he didn't bother picking up where he left off. Was it unreasonable of Wesley Snipes to expect a higher level of accommodation than might be given to Fraga's normal calibre of guests like Berserk Guts, Sketch Therapy or J Dolla? Perhaps. Perhaps....

Thinking Critical says he has “sources” that tell him that DC is on It’s last legs.
Well, that can't possibly be right. I just got done listening to a shrill harpy try to convince me that D.C. is doing just fine and that Ethan is full of shit. Said harpy, at one point, also made it a point to bitch at Ethan for e-fapping Thinking Critical's impassioned (and, quite frankly, borderline homosexual) defense of Doug Ernst that the harpy wholly endorses as truth.

If Thinking Critical (an ally of Doug Ernst) and @FROG (an enemy of Doug Ernst) both now agree that D.C. is on it's last legs, what is a poor Nerdette to do?

Could it possibly be that that whole part of that ear rape debate was really fucking stupid, and overly pedantic, and Nerdette just wanted to be contrarian for no good reason?

I dunnoooooo.

Honestly, I don't know if D.C. is on its last legs, but if you told me they're not in the best of financial health, I'd certainly believe you.

Any impartial observer with half a brain in their head would take as a baseline that a year of cinema shutdown followed by ongoing paper shortages would put even a robust media conglomerate behind the eight ball. You’d have to seriously have your brain baked on fandumb to not be starting out from that premise, optimistic or not.

Pretty much DC is literally getting mogged by Marvel in sales & market share. The only thing keeping them afloat is Batman.

You keep talking like that and the Lightbringer is going to come round Zack's house and "defend women" from him like he promised he'd do.

My take on the shadow ban is nicely summed up here:

I remember you having some trouble with IGG releasing your funds, but I didnt know you changed all the swastikas to IGG logos. :lit:

Thats fucking hilarious, and I agree, this may be why they are giving you the run around right now. Shot in the dark here, but they may have a list of "troublesome" and/or "problematic" creators that whenever they make a new campaign, it is hidden like yours is. I would think doing something like you did might get you on such a "list".

The fact the issues started the moment the campaign went live leads me to believe you might be correct. Even if it had been instantly flagged by haters IGG customer service isn't that fast. I think this was predetermined to happen. I can't prove that though.

Weve seen a whole bunch of campaigns having issues with being reviewed and asked to make changes recently (Terror in the Trenches being an example) and I wonder if those creators next books will suffer the same fate. Its worrying.

I'm confident that Krishna Kid will fund despite the shadow ban. The rallying around from the community has really helped and will hopefully continue.

And IGG shadow bans aren't new. When I was putting together the Liam vs JDA video I was able to confirm that at least some of Jon's campaigns (Dynamite Thor and Robotoad) had the same problem.

I dunno how many people here are paying attention to the pretty massive issue surrounding KiwiFarms right now, but I wanna say, just in case...

Gentlemen (and potential non-troon ladies), it's been an honor shitposting about Comicsgate with you all.

:semperfidelis:

So is there another place to bitch about Cecil if Marjorie Greene manages to kill this place?
4chan's /co?

As discussed earlier, it seems to gets mixed reviews though. Probably also not too friendly on a technical level with @Mister Dongs reports, either. :(

JDA is interviewing Erik Larson right now.
The comics industry whisper network is really losing steam if JDA can get an interview with the CFO of Image Comics without them noticing or interfering.

As far as the interview itself goes, most of Erik Larsen's interviews are the same one over and over again -the story about getting started in the industry, the story of creating Savage Dragon etc. That said, Jon was a capable interviewer who managed to keep Larsen hooked the whole time without getting mad, sperging out or fucking up.

In a follow-up Frog stream Jon theorizes that this is the beginning of some cultural watershed moment where industry figures like Larsen, who only a few weeks ago tweeted that he looked forward to Trump being executed on the White House lawn, is rejecting political division and returning to enlightened "both sides of the aisle" appeal. I have my doubts and suspect it's just wishful thinking based on him genuinely enjoying Larsen's company more than he thought he would.

So is there another place to bitch about Cecil if Marjorie Greene manages to kill this place?

Cecil's recent "The Insufferable She/Her Hulk" outrage peddling review is getting called out by even the Comicsgate casuals in chats as a sign that he's moving into the FNT/G+G orbit.

Brief writeups:

  • Simple Zack put out a video titled "PREDICTION Warner CEO David Zaslav Wont Spend More Than 15 Minutes Deciding The Fate Of DC Comics" where he engages in a thought exercise of what he would do if he was David Zaslav - he predicts that Zaslav as CEO of Discover/the entire WB media umbrella won't review the sales of each shitty DC title like Aquaman individually but review the entire imprint as a whole. Whoa! Really? These and other bold insights, only on "Comics Matter W/Ya Boi Zack".
  • Eric July had a 2 hour interview with Graham Nolan where he entered a stream-of-consciousness fugue state how happy he was about becoming a creator and having big love for all the fans who made all this possible you know what I mean over and over or in other words a generic young rippa segment. At the end though he complains that nobody is speaking out about the Diamond distribution monopoly, which is an odd stance for a self-advertised ancap.
  • Frog on a recent livestream declared his forgiveness of Wes from Thinking Critical (Year of Forgiveness) for siding with Doug Ernst over the Comic Book Hut op, now that Wes has returned to his proper role of doomposting about DC's future. As a result Frog vows he will no longer infer Wes is in a homersexual relationship with Ernst or at least until it's no longer as fun to rub Wes' projections in the face of his scoffing friends like Perch or Nerdette.
  • Piper hosted one of the most repulsive streams humanly imaginable when she invited her coterie of out-of-shape middle aged orbiters like Deej, WyzGyz, Hex Allen and DarkGift to get shirtless on stream with her in a raw, uncensored celebration of their sexuality. I don't know if Comicsgate has a legal system or some form of capital punishment that can be meted out, but if there is Piper should 100% be subject to it for this.

Whatever happens, in one form or another there should always be a place for the discerning Comicsgate connoisseur to go and discuss the latest happenings in CG-related youtube autism.
