Some minor HOI4 Youtuber related drama:
The subreddit of Bokoen01 had a post about another Youtuber named SpudGun (primarily makes videos on Vic2) being some kind of Neo-Nazi. Bokoen01 himself shows up in the comments

SpudGun makes a tweet defending himself, which Mountain General retweeted:

So I looked at this thread and I gotta say it's just redditors/paradox schills being redditors/paradox schills, the dreadful "evidence" of Spudgun being a nathzee is him posting /pol/tard tier jokes on his discord, because how dare his humor be something different than passive-agressive smug snarks at everyone right of AOC.

Spud was first to make video about Victoria 3 leak as far as I know and he is pretty vocal about not liking direction Victoria 3 is going so of course pdx drones dislike him.

that's it? that's the "edgy content" they want to cancel Spudgun for? I've seen edgier shit in servers from the 2018 hoi4 days, I swear what's with HOI4 discords and being forced/co-oped to be PG-13? I swear every discord i was in got more and more "clean" till they started banning everyone that even said anything close to the N word, I remember a server that had a legit 10-11 year old in it, and a guy got banned for reporting the kid to discord for being underage. Thank god I left that community while I still could. God help those that get into HOI4 now.

Christ. I'm coming back to my home thread after this Keffals fiasco and Pcooler is somehow in the mix. Let's bring up something else if we're allowed to:

This mindset bankrupts development. You would think it is only possible in the mind of personally motivated devs that hold themselves as little responsible as possible to a broader project or community appetite, but you'd be wrong: now you have people calling for the completely off-center ideas that keep people waiting for the entertainment they patently want.

I can't remember who it was, some time ago in this thread, that mentioned how Brazil is a country people hardly gravitate to naturally. Remember those devs coming in from the rancid ranks of CSS going on about "#PlayBrazil", surely knowing people tend to look the other away. Brazil offers no intriguing internal politics, largely resembling those of their actual 60s. The feel of an Axis victory is reduced to fluff or a flowery background. It has no active warfare, no military excitement. It has no meaningful projects on the grand scale: there are no world-defining proxy wars, no reuniting a whole nation, no rising up against an imperial power, no civil war, nothing much to resolve, but plenty to read and... build?

They needed and still need to tell people to play Brazil, just like they would have to tell people to play Panama. These ideas can only live in the dreams of developers with peculiar drives and in the heads of community members that present these projects under a guise of "more content for the little guys", "less Russo/Americano/Euro-centrism". But, in fact, nobody is after this content, and even those who nod along will likely give these backyard countries one or two playthroughs at most. There's very little to gain in terms of player experience, and whatever is gained is picked up by a few; meanwhile, we go on to delay and even derail the development major countries involved in the major narrative need. TNO tends to throws itself against a brick wall trying to rework itself into redemption, and anything that adds delays adds more time for this to grow more acute.

If you are going to code in these little states, at least make it interesting. Give them unique political climates and mechanics, aspirations and consequential weight. Above all, do not compound this with the mod's already established drive towards dull realism and dry expectations whose only result is holding down creative power and bringing forth more real-life mimic concepts.

The "little sideline guy" experience is the nicest-sounding proposal for the most underwhelming projects.

I have never played a South/Central American country in any paradox game/mod and likely never will.

Pcola being retweeted by Keffals. What an insane crossover lmfao
Every lolcow that has been covered on this site is coming out of the woodwork to get attention lol

You could tell with the recent Argentina and Brazil leaks (between the le epic Batman and Better Call Saul references) they're trying really, really hard to get people to care about South American countries which do jackshit in the grand scale of the world because it's supposed to be a Cold War game about three different factions and not like irrelevant countries whose purpose in said Cold War is just to be the battlegrounds between the influence of said factions.

But given the way how TNOdrones will eat anything up with the three-letter-acronym slapped onto it, they'll timepig (they don't pay, but they do waste their time) whatever it is even if it's more booooring South American democracy shit.

Well except for Peron Argentina and the teased Salgado Brazil paths. Those are kinda interesting, I guess.

Let's hope they deliver. My impression is that EsoNaz Argentina won't disappoint, but will prove to be short-lived and probably receive the TNO failstate treatment. Consider that, nowadays, the TNO design philosophy consists of bluntly informing the player that what they want is not possible, even if all the creative tools to accomplish it (in varying levels of difficulty) are there. And, even then, content keeps getting reworked into blandness, excised before we can even imagine it being somewhere above that. I don't only think "succeeding" as Isabel/Lopez Rega will be impossible; I think you won't even be able to tour around their failure much and will end up swallowing a railroaded storyline headed towards whatever's next. I don't mind particularly insane paths having it rough or near impossible, but I would like to see the player in a position to push against this in meaningful or at least more flavorful ways. Hitting a narrative brick wall seems to me like poor, and perhaps lazy, design.

I have no faith in whatever they bring forward, man. It won't be bad, but I believe we're at the point of mediocrity being expectable. Though, who knows? It's been two years since CRF, which was never intended as a major update. We have nothing to actually grasp what they're gunning for with all these reworks and creative shifts. I'm not denying a good result is possible, but I am saying optimism here is without base.
