No one tell them that vans and pick-up trucks are about the same size, and a two seater work truck is 10.8 inches less long, 1.7 inches thinner, and 6.6 inches shorter than the equivalent van:

Even with an 8 foot bed, a two door F-150 is only 227.7 inches long, which is only 7.8 inches longer than the standard length Transit.

A four door truck with a 5 foot bed (typical truck hated on for being not really for work) is smaller in 2/3 dimensions than the standard length Transit:

Good luck carrying your family comfortably after work in a cargo van. The four door truck is two vehicles in one. They'd rather an independent tradesman own two vehicles instead of one (or more likely, tell him that he is only allow to drive to service them, not to take his family places).
Abolish zoning? The fuck is their endgame there? They.... they know that's going to not end in what they want, right?

They don't actually mean "abolish zoning". They actually want to institute an urban growth boundary (zoning rules that make it illegal to develop rural land) and remove all housing density rules inside that boundary. They'll still keep industrial and commercial zoning. They aren't libertarians; they want to create a regulatory environment where only their dream cities are allowed to exist.

These comments on the thread neatly sum up their ideology:

In other words, "Zoning should be used to make things I like, but it shouldn't be used to make things I don't like".

Also lol at the "Japan is obviously known for its [good] zoning":

Fucking amazing.

On the other hand? Go for it, means you're not going to build in my town.

To add most bug hivers are also in favor of other things that would limit other forms of property development as well.
And when you bring up the racist and classist history of zoning in the US, they inevitably plug there ears and scream "nuh-uh" over and over again.

I see you're not familiar with European tow ratings. According to them, you can tow a car with a van or even a small sedan. Since most /r/fuckcars users are either Europeans or American basement dwellers who get all their opinions from said Europeans, if you pointed that out they would likely make some snide comment about how Europeans can tow just fine without some hulking truck like the dumb Americans need. The Europeans standards are less safe, especially if the tower decides to drive at normal freeway speeds, which is why their laws limit the speed of a towing vehicle to 60 MPH or less in an effort to compensate. The American way is always safer though, even at low speeds.

Here's a good article explaining the different towing rules.
I forgot about that. I assumed those anti car people on reddit are mostly US city bugmen and not Eurocucks.

Did Alex McNabb make that Reddit post?

Also this is a hilarious episode of Infight tonight on the Pickup truck question between McNabb and Beermin

This is the thing that gets me. If these ultra-urbanist types weren't so god damn pushy about how they think everyone should live, I'd be fine with them. They like the dense city life? Let 'em have it, and optimize the city to function as efficiently as possible for the people who live there. Trains, walkable cities bike lanes, the whole shebang. But they don't fucking stop there, or at least the ones that I actually hate don't. They demonize everyone who wants to live in a different way from them or has a different goal to optimize society towards. The only thing they seem to care about is more. More people in more buildings more densely packed than ever before. Your value as a human is just to contribute utility to the greater whole, shut up, multiply, and live in your hive stacks eating bugs and jerking off in VR. All the environmental shit is just window dressing. Those that do take a more moderate approach are sadly shouted down by idiots who treat urban planning as a religion and base their entire ideology and identity on some 2-bit youtuber grifter they watch constantly.

To be flippant, yeah, that's what makes all this literally autistic. Everyone needs to live how they want because it is RIGHT and TRUE AND HONEST.

Me on the other hand? I can understand why someone might want to live in a city, walk and subway to everything, bar hop, see music and shit. Sometimes literally. But it's not for me. I find rural or even suburban life way more fulfilling. Which annoys me when they say 'everyone in the suburbs is depressed and miserable'. Like... no. No we actually aren't? We sure don't talk about being on a dozen different brain meds the way the bugmen do.

Fuck, even my favorite art museum's in a rural area.

These are the same people that want to take away lifted trucks and window tinting for being 'unsafe'. I guess driving with an obstructed view is perfectly safe. I like to imagine this dude has a himbo friend with a truck that insists on trying to help him but he's deadset on proving those dang dirty carbrains wrong.

Bonus, some people try to point out that virtue-signaling about using a bike to get home is meaningless because the item was made in China and shipped across the ocean on an extremely polluting ship. They get downvoted because urbanist bugmen don't like hearing that their lifestyle isn't environmentally friendly:
1661885742490.png1661885896868.png
What that analysis misses is that if you manufactured goods locally, the entire ship is eliminated, not just the small portion used to transport an individual package. Since a handful of ships pollute more than the every single car in Europe, if those goods were manufactured in Europe more emissions would be reduced than if every European was crazy like the OP and used their bike's handlebars to take large items home from the shops.

This is an accident waiting to happen. And if it does happen, I'm going to laugh my ass off.

based?

>1 and a half kilometers
>not even a mile
nigga you couldve just walked with that in one of those utility wagons if you wanted
Good Lord, I forgot how out of sync metric was with Imperial. I just assumed a kilometer was somewhere roughly around a mile. Not only is it just "ride a bike everywhere bro" it's "just live less than a mile from everything bro", which is the really nasty part. Like many people here have said, fine with more buses, trains and bike lanes, but I'm not okay with the density these people demand. Every single solitary time I've lived in apartments or other shared living not with family, I have eaten shit for it. Babies squaling at 4am, white trash neighbors either fighting or fucking at all hours, the guy upstairs taking up tapdancing, you name it.

What these people miss, or perhaps conveniently leave out about communal living of the past is that it typically involved close-knit communities or extended families living in close proximity. At the very least most people could expect to live around people of racial or cultural similarity. As a result, there's some common ground and some incentive for not acting like a total prat, as there's a nonzero chance they'll run you out of town on a rail. When you're a loose affiliation of dispossessed rootless diverse mercenaries with no shared heritage or culture, all this will do is lead to infighting and resentment building. One of the most infuriating part of fuckcars is that they're on reddit, so they almost universally uphold the idea that there's no difference between different racial groups besides skin tone. They understand you shouldn't put dogs and cats in the same cage, but somehow this concept is lost on them, because the alternative is to tell a poor oppressed minority no.

Sorry for the double post but this is important enough to need its own post
/r/fuckcars' mods had to make a post telling them to cool it with the slurs and argumentative language:

Discouraged words include "NIMBY"

Do they seriously think that they invented that just because they use it a lot?

"NIMBY" was created in the early '70s as an acronym for "Not In My Back Yard!".

It's first use was in a protest against a proposed nuclear power station in California by a bunch of hippies/former hippies who had a commune in the area. (The power station got cancelled, but not because of the hippies, because CA got a new governor who vetoed it).

The pejorative form was always "NIMBYism", not calling people NIMBYs. Maybe that is original to r/fuckcars.

Also lol that even the subreddit considers "orangepilled" cringe. Just take the L, NJB.

In an earlier post(on the variety of Matrix-themed "pills") I said trannies use "purple pill". That is incorrect.

Trannies use "pink pill" - for evidence see Keffals' Twitter feed.

Nobody tears down perfectly good buildings to build parking lots. Those buildings were torn down because they became crime-filled slums. Over the years, as the economy has recovered and crime rates fallen, those cities have been built up again.

This is the same angle of Houston today after an economic boom. Most of those parking lots have been turned into buildings. I've highlighted one of the few buildings that is visible in both pictures. Houston is just as car-dependent as it was when your picture was taken:

Your Kanas City picture is also deceptively cropped. This is what it actually looks like today:

Wow, they totally destroyed the city for a highway.
You know what’s really ironic? Downtown Houston, despite being the arch example for car dependent urban planning actually meets a lot of their criteria. The center of downtown is a collection of businesses and housing buildings connected by underground walking tunnels with restaurants and shops. You can get just about anything you want in under 15 minutes of walking. You can stay cool while doing it too.

The problem is that the city grew so fast over various parts of its history that the government just gave up expanding this, because you can’t build underground tunnels for 2-4 million people in a city built on a marsh. Especially when 100k new Californians and Mexicans move in every year.

Population growth proved the idea of carless planning unsustainable.

Big brained thoughts on street takeovers, perhaps the most egregious example of personal transportation being used as a weapon against society, from this big dumb cunt.
