Is there anything out there that is really worth the cost
Volquartsen extractor and firing pin, Clark bolt release (some don't like them for backpacking or on a take-down model, but i like them on standard models. BX-25 magazines if you're into the look (likewise with the plethora of aftermarket stocks). if you're into quiet shooting, Gemtech makes the MIST-22, a suppressed barrel which is pretty neato. i like the look of GRS laminate stocks and use one on my mountain rifle. the Nordic Wolf GRS Sporter would look nice on a 10/22 with high polish blue or stainless finish.

Gun question for you Ruger 10/22 nerds. I know there is a pretty strong aftermarket. Is there anything out there that is really worth the cost for an already decent plinking rifle?
Club's got most of it. The VQ extractor and firing pin are cheap and must haves. I have one of their DLC coated bolts and it's great but it's mostly just great for cleaning. I recommend putting a couple of dimes into one of those polyurethane 'soft' bolt buffer pins, they're cheap as hell and make shooting a little nicer (especially suppressed).

Stock trigger isn't all that wonderful. You can spend way more than the gun on a replacement. Ruger's $50 or whatever BX Trigger really tore the bottom out of that market. It's a pretty darn good trigger and not bad.

Stocks are far and wide for every preference. I'm mega tall and tend to put new stocks on all the 10/22s I have just because they tend towards kiddie LOP.

There's a lot of stuff out there for the 10/22, I think the best upgrades would be sights (if you like irons check out Tech-Sights or any other peep sights), triggers (ruger OEM trigger upgrade is good), and extended magazines (Buy the Ruger OEM ones, BX-25/15). I also recommend a KIDD auto bolt release. I got a threaded barrel for my suppressor and a 10/22 sporter stock because I wanted checkering.

HKs are decent, they are just overpriced and overrated, like everything on the internet with a cult fanbase. Roller locks are my favorite mechanism, the way they work is so fucking cool, but I wouldn't call them mediocre.

Turkshit is hit or miss. I've seen good and I've seen terrible.

I'm glad yours has no issues. What sucks though is if you ever develop one, you are way better off seeking out a HK certified armorer than you are sending it back to CAI. CAI is known for fucking up guns worse than they got them.
It's a general rule that the less Century has to do with actually making the gun, the better.

I actually got an AP5P myself, mainly cause SP5K's were and are still pretty hard to get. I had some stovepiping even using 124gr ammo like Century says. However, I replaced the ejector lever with a new one and it's running fine now. So overall it's been good, but even with how cheap they are think it's a bit ridiculous I needed to replace a part basically immediately. Especially since the average gun owner doesn't know dick about how their gun actually works and would just send it to Century. I've seen a few of the "repairs" Century has done, instead of replacing ejector levers apparently they "reprofile" them.

Also saw this picture comparing a new ejector lever(left) to the one in the AP5(right).

I really like the Samson MFG B-Team stock I put on my 10/22. Also get a threaded barrel, I put a Mini-14 flash hider on mine to complete the look but also so you can run it with a suppressor. I run a Rugged Oculus on my 10/22 and with CCI standard velocity ammo it gets pretty quiet.

IDK why people don't just go real HK with the SP5 or go with a nice 9mm AR platform, CMMG makes a realy nice delayed blowback 9mm AR upper imho, I love mine.
For people who just want a cool Die Hard gun they can slap I get going with the option that's literally a third the price of the HK.

PSA premium OR an Aero 20 inch upper for budget minded people.

I JUST got an Aero 20 inch "A2 clone" upper with an included A2 carry handle / sight for $328. The PSA premium will usually go on sale for $350-$400 easier.

I just got a Beretta 21a on layaway 😎

Adding, most LGS or FFLs will work with you if you don't look like a tweaker or a crackhead on 0% interest payment plans. Put some down Day 1 and give them more cash every 2 weeks for a month or three and the gun is yours.

My 10/22 got a bx trigger, an aftermarket threaded bull barrel an archangel stock and Harris style bi-pod. Even the GF loves it and she normally hates shooting. My only complaint are mags are a bitch to remove with this stock for some reason dunno why.

Those promag and archangel magazines suck donkey balls.

I even once tried using those 10/22 magazines with a fake 556 cover shroud, and it barely fit lol.

I believe the issue is that of the magazone is not using a steel feeding system like those Steel Lips, they will most likely fail.

Though Ruger magazines are the best choice for their 10/22s though I hate their 10 round magazines.

I changed out the default black synthetic stock for a Hogue Stock though in hindsight, should have gone with magpul. Switched out the trigger system and magazine release for the upgrades from Ruger directly.

I'm surprised magpul hasn't made magazines for the 10/22.

I don't care for the factory 10 rounders, I think they were set on that very old mindset of "a rifle must have flush fit magazine system" circa WW2. I tried filing down the sides of the archangel, its really a shame the mags don't drop freely otherwise its a great stock for the price point.

It pains me to find out that one of the best aftermarket 10/22 peep sights, the Nodak Spud aka NDS sight for the 10/22 is OOS everywhere after NDS was bought by PSA in December 2021. Here's hoping it comes back.

An extended mag release lever is also not a terrible idea for your 10/22.
Its more than just that, they refuse to drop free without a shake to the rifle itself. Being factory 10/22 mags they are perfectly flush with the receiver making them a bitch to remove. Any extended style mag like a 15+ rounder, will easily be removed though. I mistakenly bought like 5-10 rounder magazines when I should have purchased some 25's or at least 15's where I have something to grab onto and yank out. It's not a fighting rifle so I don't mind the mags being finicky, once again I love the stock especially @ only $120 iirc.
