Biden just spent $300,000,000 to buy off the collegle vote for the mid-terms so if those bastards aren't ready to turn out and vote blue no matter who then they never will. This Gun grab makes zero sense politically.

A fairly small percent of the population actually has student debt, something like 10%. Even fewer have severe student debts. It's a case of the squeaky wheel making a gigantic fuss and making people think every single person under 50 has untenable debt. They need to do more to motivate all the moderates and democrats without student debt they may have pissed off.

Like I said, dead cat bounce. They had a brief flash of optimism after the loans thing, now it's all crashing down around their ears.

I wonder if Iraq's collapse will have any effect.

We're seeing the results of OPEC+ threatening rate cuts due to US fuckey in the market, plus that uncomfortable creaking sound as various European economies have stress fractures visibly forming. Oh and apparently Gazprom is cutting off supplies to half the Continent day after tomorrow until they pay up properly. We're seeing years of retarded western decision making come home to roost catalyzed by an unprecedented set of shortages created in no small part by sanctioning the hell out of an economy that's upstream from virtually the entire developed world's. I’m assuming the audio from the crowd was muted in this clip, because if it was Please Clap quiet after he did that line…oof. The people in that audience are the kinds who would break into raucous applause as Mushbrain drops a double-whammy in the form of a zinger that targets both those evul insureckshonist republikkkans as well as the 2A.

The fact that even those rally goers who were strategically placed behind him didn’t seem entertained has me wondering if even his own supporters think that line is disconcertingly cringe. After all, if he kept speaking, the conversation would inevitably lead to him talking about killing Americans, which his fighter jet talk implies from the beginning.

Trump might’ve had his own issues, but he was NEVER fucking stupid enough to speak negatively about the voters- even those who hated him. He’d direct his insults, ridicule, and ire towards politicians and officials, sure. But voters? Fuck no. The democrats are so stupid in this sense, but their history of such behavior shows it’s no new thing. Remember HRC’s ‘deplorables’ remark?

…Or, Joe/his handlers got gratuitously excited by the marginal bump in approval and recent legislative successes (after a long, cold spell), that they’re underestimating just how much their fortunes have turned. They may be thinking, “people love us now and all’s forgiven!”

As a consequence of this thinking, they start saying the quiet parts out loud more frequently, and engage in politically dangerous behavior (like shit-talking voters directly). It seems like they’re getting a bit too confident. Whether it’s because they’ve confirmed that the infrastructure for election fuckery is in place for November/2024, or because they’re just that fucking stupid and misreading the room, I dunno.

They’re probably just stupid.

I don’t entirely disagree with the “win, fuck ethics” bit at this point. It’s ultimately what Trump represents when you think about it. The other side is so far gone at this point that bothering to hold to standards when dealing with them is innately dangerous.

You don’t treat a rabid dog like a rational actor. You end the thing as soon as is expedient for your own sake, everyone else’s sake, and the poor thing’s sake

I’m going to make a prediction right now that Fetterman is going to lose in November. This is not the behavior of a candidate who’s driven or capable of winning.

Backing out of debates is one of the worst things you can do as a candidate. There’s no way to do so without projecting cowardice and weakness. The optics are radioactively toxic. You MUST show up, even if you’re bleeding from your eyes. It should be approached with the same sense of urgency that Teddy Roosevelt had when he delivered a speech after being shot, with blood seeping through his shirt.

Fetterman can look forward to comparisons between him and Perdue (2020). When he no-showed, Ossoff could speak freely and ridicule his opponent, gesturing to an empty lectern all the while. It was free publicity for Ossoff. And Perdue had no means of defending himself from the attacks.

Fetterman is backing out because, as shown by his recent public appearances, he’s fucking stroked out and disabled. Merely giving a prepared speech is almost beyond him. There is NO WAY he could handle the rigors, speed, and stress of a debate. He’s probably incapable of cleanly explaining his platform from memory at this point. He’ll basically look like how we all thought Joe would look for the 2020 debates, were it not for the drug cocktails.

I can't figure out why they don't legalize marijuana. It would soften Kamala's image, throw red meat to their base, and make the Republicans cede the issue or engage in a losing culture war issue.
