Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

Bit late, but there's more from LTT's favorite zoomer. Turns out Linus's virgin brigade has been messaging her constantly about why she left. Apparently manchildren don't know how NDAs work.

New video
Wow.

1. They bought production machines to make millions of screwdrivers? That's optimistic.

2. Linus always says "I wish 'Linus' wasn't in the name of Linus Tech Tips" to be humble. Yet "Linus" is still the promo code for his sponsorships. Curious.

How old is Linus anyway? He looks like he's 45 with dyed hair and beard with that wrinkly face, and those two earrings look extra gay on his big poke-out old man ears, LOL.

He gives off a "Hello, fellow kids" vibe with his teenager wardrobe. It worked on his first videos, 13 fucking years ago, during the late 00's, when he looked like a college kid, but i hadn't watch a video of his in years and it's really cringe now.

iirc it was him talking about the mold: You either buy the cheap prototype one with no durability, or the proper one that will have a number of uses that you would expect for injection molds. Oh, and there is no way he would be retarded enough to actually buy the machine. Hes crying about sub 10k equipment, those start at at 500k+. Mass production gets very expensive very quickly

Its just marketing wank. Any production mold would have millions of uses, because that's how long production injection molds last. Think of it akin to saying "Mil-Spec" gear or "Medical Grade" stainless steel.

Google says 36.

Thats clearly whats going on, but it could also be all the zoomer writers and editors he has to hire to replace the people quitting.

Reminder: Project farm this sunday.

Oh yeah, wrong choice of words on my part.

But still, "we intend to produce millions of screwdrivers" is a bold statement.

This part got me...

It's the same situation as with the backpack — why? I have no problem with "high end" gear for tech enthusiast, but this is unnecessarily complicated and that drives price up with small market demand among average you tube fan. If he made something cheaper and simpler it would sell like hotcakes. If he made something like IFixit kit or set of screwdrivers like Game Nexus it would make more sense. Less moving parts and problems, more profit... Sure, it would be a lesser product but to be honest most people need screwdriver once every three moths and will be fine with some cheap crap. If necessary you can slap some magnets on the side of the screwdriver if you don't wan to loose screws or bits. No mater how good it is 69.99 is lot of money for somthing you don't use frequently...

Realistically, building a computer only requires a #2 phillips unless you want to install m.2 drives then add on a small precision phillips.

I've built PCs for years with my hitachi powered screwdriver that only cost ~$30 more than this and is infinitly more useful.
I don't get why people act like tech requires super special high end tools.

Sorry, but it's all low torque Chinese screws and whatnot. A single Philips driver will do 95% of the work in a PC. People just like to pretend they're doing much more technical work than they actually are.

I've been messing around with all sorts of computers (not just PCs) for decades with a set of old-timey Stanley screwdrivers and that's been fine for 80% of the work I do. The other 20% is handled by a set of Stanley precision screwdrivers and a smartphone tool kit.

As an added bonus, I've used the same set of Stanley screwdrivers on everything from changing doorknobs to undoing hose clamps on the various cars I've owned.

I couldn't tell you how much I paid for all these tools, but it'd be roughly the same as what Linus wants for one of his Chinesium shitters.

Linus really didn't need to develop the manufacturing process on his own, like AT ALL. Just let Megapro do the work, they can literally make that same screwdriver but in less than a year.
just make up prototypes, go through the process until you figure out what is workable, and they can do the manufacturing and the costs will be much cheaper AND the screwdrivers will be less that 70$.
I don't know what it is that got him to think that they will just make an "LTT Edition" of the Megapro screwdriver but they literally can do more cuz making tools is literally their specialty.

At about 18 mins in he talks about being .005 out of tolerance.

Thats the standard tolerance in Machining. Literally his engineers didn't spec the mechanicals correctly, and forgot to make it go one way (either +.005 or -.005, not the standard which is both).

Such a rookie mistake. A locking pin on a rachet isn't some unheard of engineering feat.
Well the thing is Alex competancy is severly lacking as you can see in almost any video when they feature the workshop and this new engineering dude... Well he is in mechatronics. Nothing wrong with that im a mechatronics autist myself but.. You are not a product designer, programing plcs is no the same as being a developer. Sure he could have gone the developer route after school but with how much of a clusterfuck something as basic as a driver was for them im more then sceptical.

One thing im quite curious about is the molding. Cause in one part they show Alex using solidworks. Solidworks actually has some solid built in tools to help you with that. Software today is so good it can help you with where the gates should be, warping, where you should put your weld lines. I have never done any simulations on molds in solid myself but my buddy says its almost bang on if you know what your doing.

Mechatronics sounds fancy doesn't it? Like he should know both Electrical engineering and Mechanical engineering! Its a 2 for 1 deal. New guy seems smarter than Alex, but thats an incredibly low bar to clear. Plus, new guy is new enough I doubt he had any real input on the screw driver.

Feel like I should correct you about the not a "product designer" bit though. For something as simple as a screwdriver with a rachet in it? A mechanical engineer should be entirely able to handle that. If I had to work with one who couldn't draw up prints to spec for a requested screw driver, I would assume a lot worse about his engineering than lack of "product design" skills. Knowing how mechanical parts interact and what is required is the job description.

Yea, solidworks does have all that stuff, but your buddy was right, you have to know what you're doing. 1) They don't and 2) you have to know enough to catch when the program spits out something wrong. Its one of the most maddening things when I see people talk CNC machining on youtube. Yes, you can get the program to spit out a functional gcode program. If you can't read it, its just a matter of time for a crash that is going to cost thousands of dollars to fix.

In the case of a injection molding mold? Well, you make the mold, and its fucked up, and you are now possibly eating the 100k+ cost of the mold.

Oh boy. I'm definitely watching this thread...

That being said, I wouldn't shit on Anthony too hard. I mostly respect the man for being one of the only actually knowledgeable people at LMG, even if some of his ideas and interests outside of work are a little questionable.
Linus on the other hand...he's going downhill fast. He seems to be getting worse with every WAN show.
Nah fuck that. I can't wait til it turns out he's a furry pedo or a faggot. That guy gives me the creeps. Idc how smart he is, plenty of creepy kiddy fuckers are tech wizards. How do you think they get their CP?

Hell look at TuxLovesYou. He's an Arch freak just like Anthony and he fucked his sister.

Never disabling my adblock faggot nor am I going to buy your useless shit
as you shouldn't. You should also install sponsor block so you can watch videos without listening to 2 minute tangents about expressvpn

Why the fuck would I pay $70 for a screwdriver?

Nigga, I can get by with a $10 one from home depot.

The only people who would buy this are people who still think that linus is some computer god. Fuck, I hate grifters.
Exactly why I looked this thread up. I literally found a screwdriver, from a name brand no less, that is used by every carpenter ever and it was like 15 bucks. Why the fuck does he think his aliexpress 2 dollar screwdriver is worth 70 bucks then fakes being sold out to build hype LOL

bro they caught on , like they make it so quick or work it into whatever they're talking about so they catch me sometimes lol

What yall think of Gary Key being Head of the Lab?
just judging from the PSU tester they invested it seems to me that they are overthinking what they need, just from the goals Linus wanted to achieve mentioned in the video.
or they are just confused tbh I really don't know.
You can tell Gary don't want to deal with the media shit. I wonder if this will irritate and drive the actual technical people away.

I had a friend compare his PC building hobby to my husband's car modding hobby in terms of complexity and finesse, lmao.
