Xbox Game Studios Stupidity Hate Thread Game Pass Edition

What this is doing is WORSE than that. It's basically saying "hey, you can't have these ever again unless we allow it", which Spoiler Alert: they won't.
That's not just MS. They have to sign approval with the publishers to allow their games on the service and for how long. Example: I'm sure R* signed some exclusivity deal with Sony and MS to have ONE game of GTA: The Trilogy on each service to increase revenue.

Hey guys, blame Sony for filling our pockets:

They're discontinuing Xbox 360 games for Games with Gold in September. This is noteworthy because with the whole Games with Gold system, Xbox One games required you to maintain your subscription to retain access to games you claimed, Xbox 360 games weren't like that: if you claimed them, they'd stay on your account as if you bought them, even after your subscription lapses. The last two games will be Thrillville and Portal 2.

I'm surprised they gave them out for this long, tbh.

MS confirmed today that Diablo, Overwatch and CoD will all be added to Gamepass once the merger goes through. That's a pretty big deal.
Not really a surprise, that was a given. Glad it's officially confirmed.

One question I have is will ALL the CoDs on Xbox be avaliable on Game Pass? And what of the DLC?

As of now, CoD is STILL full price on the marketplace.

You guys do know the 1$ conversion trick will still work after your 3 years is up?

If you are currently paying game pass month to month you can stop recurring billing, wait for it to expire, load up on Gold cards (I like to buy 3 months, redeem, then turn on auto billing for 1 additional month, then go in and turn off auto billing, rinse/repeat), and then convert all your time back to Games Pass.

If you did it before then its no longer 1$ to convert but 14.99. Still thats a hell of a lot better than paying month to month for three years.

I think Xbox stopped that conversion. I have to renew mine for next month. Hopefully in time for CoD.

Good stuff, but I'm also hoping for other IPs like Crash Bandicoot, Tony Hawk Pro Skater, and Prototype to get added too.

I also want to say that 343 can go fuck itself for canceling split screen co-op in Halo Infinite, they broke their damn promise.

I don't see why not. They put up Bethesda's back catalog, and nobody was wanting to play Battlespire or Redguard.

No clue, but my guess is they'll put up either last, or the year before's CoD kinda like they do with sports games. As for the newest one, they'll probably sprinkle it with free trinkets and gun skins or whatever exclusive to Game Pass, but still charge full price for it, so they can get people to double dip on both a Game Pass sub and the newest CoD.

Like, I could see them putting up the newest one this year and then you'll get a bunch of people going "AAHHHHH NEW $70 COD ON GAME PASS FOR FREE WHAT A BARGAIN" but then next year the newest one won't drop on Game Pass until it's a year or two old. So my guess is, Vanguard and/or Black Ops Cold War will show up right away, maybe Modern Warfare 2 '22, and then the rest of the back catalog that works on One & Series will be rotated in and out. feel free to tag me and call me a fag if im wrong

I foresee them going the Bethesda route and dumping several CoD games onto the service. At the least, starting with Xbox One era CoDs.

Yeah I think that's very likely too, maybe at least one beloved 360 one (Black Ops 2 maybe?) since most of 'em are on backwards compatibility. I don't think I'd bet on it though, since CoD is such a crazy valuable franchise and adding a single one to Game Pass would make headlines and help keep Game Pass in the public consciousness all the time

I won't deny that 360 CoDs would make the jump. Would they be playable since they are infested with hackers, especially Black Ops 2?

After multiple delays it is finally coming, but seemingly no online play on xbox version:

Load up your silenced PP7s and prime those remote mines: GoldenEye 007 is coming to Nintendo Switch Online, adding online multiplayer for the first time, the company revealed in Tuesday's Nintendo Direct livestream. The James Bond-themed first-person shooter will join the Switch's selection of Nintendo 64 classics "soon," the company said.

It'll also come to Xbox Game Pass for Xbox One and Xbox X|S, and developer Rare noted that this version will include "achievements, 4K resolution and a smoother framerate." It's unclear if the Switch version's visuals will be upgraded (Nintendo's console doesn't support 4K; we asked Nintendo and Rare to clarify) or remain closer to the N64 original, but the Switch and Xbox versions will come out on the same day.

In an apparent tradeoff, the Xbox version doesn't seem to have online multiplayer like the Switch one, but will be available for free to people who own a digital copy of Rare Replay, the 30-game compilation of classics that came out in 2015.

GoldenEye 007 hit the N64 in 1997, as a licensed tie-in to the 1995 movie that introduced actor Pierce Brosnan as the legendary British agent. The game won critical acclaim for its fun single-player campaign and epic split-screen competitive multiplayer. Microsoft acquired developer Rare in 2002.

Fans have been expecting a remaster for Microsoft's Xbox Series X and S to be revealed for months, since achievements for this remaster have leaked multiple times, so that could happen soon. It was reportedly planned for release on Xbox 360 in the late 2010s, and an apparent extended gameplay video appeared in 2016. At the time, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said the game's licensing rights complicated efforts to get it on the console.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Bond movie franchise -- with latest film No Time to Die now available to stream on Amazon Prime Video -- but the series is in a state of flux as fans await the announcement of Daniel Craig's successor in the role. Hitman developer IO Interactive is also working on its own Bond game.
