Not as uncommon as you might think...

I quit my PhD program after about 2 semesters because I realized that higher-ed is a fucking con-job, and the entire program & academic community were postmodernist faggots who couldn't offer a practical solution to our discipline's key problems if they had a gun to their head. So, I went and started working for minimum wage at a grocery store because life moves on regardless of ideological disillusionment.

Important distinction -- I, apparently, had half a brain and quickly rode that corporate ladder to a cushy corporate job w/ the same company. The fact this clown is still bagging groceries in some desperate attempt to larp as "working class" is proof he's either: A. way too committed to the bit, or B. a completely self-unaware mark who is destined for mediocrity in the real world while posturing as some sort of online activist.
