Most of his films like Robocop, Troopers, Total Recall, and even Showgirls are fantastic satire that some people are too stubborn or stupid to notice.
I get Robocop and Starship Troopers. I think Verhoeven was off base in going after that work in particular, but I get what he was doing. I can even kind of see Total Recall as a satire of a lot things. But I don't know how Showgirls is satire.

It's a satire of the whole "fresh faced girl from nowhere follows her dreams to become a star" trope that Hollywood has been pushing for decades.

I understand not getting Showgirls, but if anyone doesn't understand the films Robocop and Starships Troopers are simultaneously legit entries into the action/sci-fi genres while also being satires of said genres please never procreate and if you're a "Film Critic" and don't realize that please off yourself.

Since you closely follow the Keffals thing, going as far as taking part in twitter raids, let me break you the bad news:

Even if the site goes down, your thread will pop up somewhere else.
You wanted to become internet famous and brought your baggage for everyone to see.

Whatever ended up here, you posted yourself. The only exception was Brad's ex posting about you trying to feel her up when she was drunk.

No one would have found out how bad your relationship was if you hadn't posted on twitter asking for help. Not manning up and dumping her is on you.

In the past decade your actions weren't even a "spur of the moment" decision making:
You wrote, recorded, edited and released a "review" of you slut shaming Sasha Grey.

You can decry misogyny and every ism known to man on others, but you can't erase your internet footprint.

You conscientiously decided that being a joyless woke snob is the way to go. Tough shit Kyle.

“When I use my preferred euphemisms for the horrors I support, they sound way nicer. Checkmate, CHUDs.”

You can do this shit with anything.

“No one is calling you evil because you‘re a doctor, it’s because you stick icepicks up kids’ noses so they stop acting up.”

“Um, it’s called a humane medical intervention.”

Also, again, if it’s not a medical condition, if it’s some beautiful expression of human diversity as old as time, why does it have a whole kind of healthcare for it. The gays don’t need pills or surgeries just to live. Just lube. Maybe tiny dogs.

This is why I love Verhoeven so much. Most of his films like Robocop, Troopers, Total Recall, and even Showgirls are fantastic satire that some people are too stubborn or stupid to notice.
I'll admit it took me some time to understand where he was coming from but I saw most of his movies when I was a young lad and enjoyed the action portions of them. It's only in revisiting them later that I saw what he was actually trying to say.

Kyle's stumbling block is he never read the books so all he has to go on is the movies.

And he’s part of a cultural moment where reading things that have the wrong politics, even if those are purely inferred by a select readers, is considered to be a memetic hazard or support for an evil system.

Man, I can’t wait till it somehow becomes bad to openly enjoy Discworld. I might even be able to feel pity for the poor sods.

And he doesn't understand European (and Dutch) cinema nearly as well as he thinks he does. Verhoeven might have made Hollywood blockbusters but he's a very European filmmaker. I'm just thankful Kyle hasn't tried to review Dick Maas' films yet, I might actually be offended by his shit takes.

So, there’s this bit during Kyle’s run down of Paul’s filmography, he mentions a film about a woman who is raped, but for various reasons doesn’t go to the cops or avoid her assailant for all time.

Kyle: For very understandable reasons—

Given some of the shit that’s been reported about Kyle, that’s sinister as fuck.

I doubt that will ever happen. The Discworld novels have always been a favorite of the nerd set and tend not to get too much traction outside of that circle. It's practically required reading if you're in IT. I remember when "Monsterous Regiment" came out and half the department had either started reading it, finished reading it or were planning on reading it.

Besides Sir Pterry never said anything bad about troons or anything so I think it's safe.

It shows in his style. You can tell where a director is coming from by how they frame their shots, scene composition and stuff like that. And while he's mainly known here for the big Hollywood blockbusters, and Showgirls, I will admit my favorite of his movies is "Soldier of Orange" followed by "The Fourth Man". One a story set during WWII and the Dutch resistance and the other a psychological thriller. The man is a good director and storyteller who isn't really understood on this side of the Atlantic.

I would argue that Discworld has achieved a fair bit of mainstream popularity. It’s not quite Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings “even your granddad’s read them” level yet, but I could see it getting there. Put it this way, I’ve seen them in airport bookstores.

This is a good point, but nobody has ever lost money betting on the rapaciousness of Book Twitter. Still surprised so many people felt the need to turn on Anne Rice after her passing. Her vampire books were gay as hell, and I don’t mean that as a synonym for bad.

(Though Interview With a Vampire is the only good one)

Something about she did a white supremacy by describing the pale as fuck vampires as beautiful or something.

the ACAB crowd are the biggest faggots around.
They would call the police in a heartbeat if someone shifty was around them.

It’s worse than that. Kyle is someone who (allegedly, I guess) has behaved extremely inappropriately towards women, and is telling his audience of zoomers that, actually, not going to the police when you’ve been raped is Very Right And Sensible.

That's fucking retarded. Just because she called some pale ass vampire "beautiful" doesn't mean it's coded white supremacy. I swear these people are just looking specifically to find something to bitch about.

It's the fucking far-left assholes that are behind that. It's the same in any profession you might care to look at there are good examples of them and bad examples of them. But to say EVERY single cop out there is a bastard just for being a cop is retarded.

And yet, as you say, if they were in trouble they'd be the first to call 911 just because somebody looked side eyed at them. The problem is you can't win with people like that because they have no firm stance on anything. If tomorrow Kyle's entire fanbase turned on him because of something he said that was problematic he'd walk it back, apologize and say he was wrong to have said that. I mean look at Lindsay the Nostalgia Chick. She got hammered on Twatter for something she said and was cancelled by her own fans. Kyle has less fans and success that she has but he'd wind up folding faster than Superman on laundry day.

The man has no spine or things he's really willing to stand up for.

Plus, part of the reason they’re beautiful is so they can lure in human prey. The idea that beauty can hide savagery and evil is as old as folklore. Really, the entire concept of “problematic vampires” is funny as fuck:

”I was okay with Lestat murdering hookers and Louis draining a little girl to death before trapping her in a monstrous eternal childhood, but him being good looking while white and owning slaves in the 1700s is a step too far!”

Well it's a good thing they fixed that in the new tv-show by adding token blacks(TM), or someone's feelings might have gotten hurt!
They should have just made them emotional vampires, that would have been recognisable for the twitter crowd.

Vampires, at least the Hollywood version we've grown up watching, have always been sexy to one degree or another. It's part of their thing as Deacon says here:

Okay maybe a bad choice but sex has always played a role where vampires are concerned.

”I was okay with Lestat murdering hookers and Louis draining a little girl to death before trapping her in a monstrous eternal childhood, but him being good looking while white and owning slaves in the 1700s is a step too far!”
Please tell me that somebody actually said that. The utter blindness of that statement is ridiculous.
