Please tell me that somebody actually said that. The utter blindness of that statement is ridiculous.
Obviously they didn’t say it like that, but there were think pieces about how Anne Rice glossed over the horrors of slavery or whatever by having Louis be from a plantation family. For context, Lestat more or less turned Louis because he was rich and had a large estate, and eventually they are driven off the place by the slaves when they realise they’re literal and not figurative monsters. If I recall, the piece I’m thinking about also fretted about Jasper from Twilight being a Confederate soldier when he was alive. Now, aside from the fact that fretting about the problematic elements of Twilight is the most 2008 thing you could do besides make jokes over clips of bad 90s movies, Jasper was also the designated arsehole of the Cullen family, so what’s their problem?
